Healers that don't want to DPS are like DPSes who refuse to move out of AoEs.

I don't know about you but I have done expert roulettes with double dragoon dps and they were melting away the biggest pack pulls you can imagine in a very very short time.
Ok my holy spam sure did help but they really knew what they were doing.
And honestly. Drg AoE isn't so bad.
I just lvled mine to 60 a week ago and I didn't feel helpless at all during the AoE pulls. So really, what's the problem there?

There are also healers that DPS too much and end up getting everyone else killed. Yoshi pointed this out as well, even saying he'd do away with Cleric Stance if people weren't so keen on DPSing as healer. All I can say is the tags in this thread speak for themselves lol.

And yet everyone that supports the dps meta believes it's correct to ignore your responsibility above a bare minimum, to the point that a stray/unpredictable crit or an accidental misstep snowballs into a full blown raid wipe because neither healer wanted to do their job correctly and thought it was safe to halfass it. It would be like a tank with a dps at 99%, the dps pulling the boss off every few seconds and causing the target to spin. After all, the tank has aggro over everyone else, who cares if the dps might wind up cleaving the raid on accident? He can just not attack and let the tank build up a lead again.

But what you seem to miss is that there are NO unpredictable crits in casual contents like this.
There are pretty much 3 common types of incoming damage: avoidable dmg and not avoidable dmg. And well, I also kinda count Tank Busters as a third one.

Every healer should (actually, IMO its a must) take the boss into focus target and keep an eye on what hes casting
or what hes doing (even though I think theres hardly any casual content with visual-only indicators for skills?)

So its all about KNOWING skills and what they do. I dont recall a single unpredictable crit,so if you do, please help me refresh my memory.
The only thing i can think of are the Adds in the Zurvan EX fight, cos those f*****s hit really hard. But its not unpredictable,they have a 70% crit rate.
Its rather unpredictable when they dont crit. I can solo heal those and let the second healer dps. Or vice versa.
Everything else is either indicated by a certain visual move (e.g. Sophias yellow/green auras) or by a cast bar.

And if I run some content where I dont know what people are like, as a healer, and I know theres avoidable damage incoming, I'll actually take the safe route there and take CS off for a moment because I can kinda tell that someone WILL get hit.
(example: Dun Scaith. Theres usually always 1-2 people who take every unnecessary hit).
But after that, I just switch back to dpsing.

Nah as a Bard your role says DPS. You're not there to use any non-damaging skill, right? The rest of your kit doesn't matter. DPS is DPS. That's all you must do. Are we having fun playing our classes yet?

I am a pro-choice dps healer and supporter.

The healer should have a right to choose how they want to play their class. Their role is healing and cleansing, if those duties are being fulfilled they are doing their job. They can choose if they want to dps or not.

I dont know why some people try to force playstyles on people.

Make your own preformed parties if you are so rigid

The problem is when developers cater to these bad playstyles and remove accuracy on healer gear and apparently design fights around healer DPS being zero. And I think anyone who cleared A1S week one can safely say, that if your healer wasn't DPSing too, you likely didn't clear unless you were in the top 10%

An easy fix is to give healers a buffing mode.

Instead of stance dancing to heal and DPS, you heal and buff your party's damage by about as much dps as you would have done in CS.

You can DPS or buff now and everyone is happy.

I haven't seen many healers that do this as repeat offenders. Occasionally one will tunnel vision and cause a death, rarely a wipe, but it's definitely preferable to someone just spamming Cure the whole dungeon and more than makes up for the time loss. And once it happens once, the healer usually adjusts and does fine while still tossing out dps.

I've honestly died more as a tank from healbots and afk healers than I have from healers trying to DPS. Healers that stance dance and DPS usually have the mindset that they want to excel and they adapt accordingly, the others may or may not have that mindset.
