You can suck at a fight and still live as a bard. Its so mobile that its virtually idiot proof. But we can all agree this kind of party sucks and wont accomplish much.
This leaves #1 as the only reason worth discussing. It is the only unique role brd brings to the table. DPS is done better by the other classes.
WHY ARE YOU PLAYING A BARD IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO SING?!

09-22-2014, 12:47 PMSnugglebuttI out DPS a lot of supposedly high DPS classes constantly, sometimes with AoE's and sometimes with single target as not everyone is geared the same, plays the same or does everything perfect all the time so your comment is pointless and has no relation to reality in game while playing. Gear, skill rotation/usage and ability to use your class are all factors that vary from individual to individual regardless of class so just picking a group based on class, telling people they shouldn't run with a specific class shows you to be ignorant rather than picking who to play with based on how good they are at their chosen class.Quote:

You cannot use the excuse 'everything being equal' which my comment refers to in regards to the other person I was responding to because it never is, everyone has a different efficiency and ability to use their individual classes and characters. You said it yourself in your own examples people not doing everything right and fact is no-one I have ever come across always does everything right all of the time. To dismiss and not group with someone based on their version of DPS class instead of how good they are at said class will lead to failure more often than the other way around.Quote:

Once when using my Bard (alt class) for a pre-made Primal run (joined as random DPS class) with 2 WHM's, half way through the fight the 1 WHM run out of MP and died, he/she started raging in party chat and they rage quit the DG.
We carried on with the single healer and killed the primal easily, the WHM left with over half of his/her MP remaining.
I did the highest DPS by a fair margin.
Do you think I should cut my DPS by 30% singing Ballad for a healer who can't manage their MP in an easy fight? When the other healer is performing as expected. -

to me personally, unless the song is requested of me, the only songs I will play are Foe Requiem, and Army's Paeon. I will only sing Foe Requiem if we have a Summoner or Black Mage in the party as I feel that Healers are better suited to healing. And I will generally only sing Army's Paeon if I am spamming my AoE's. Otherwise if you want a song, ask me for a song and I will oblige.
