Subscription deadline is coming up and the question is: will you subscribe?

I plan on subbing. I did only do one month, because there are certain things I'm worried about like combat changes, how fun leveling up other classes will be, but most of all: I want to be able to transfer servers to play with friends.

Once server transfers are available, it's just minor worries that only time will tell. So far, I've really enjoyed the game. I can only imagine how much better it's going to be once I can play with my friends!

Every MMO has their cons and pros, but for me the pros of this game win over cons.

There's only one mmo out there that gonna have different objectives in a PvE scenario whenever you repeat one of them and it's called The Secret World, on top of beein dynamic events you cant predict, hence, the elimination of strict patterns (the next update, Issue 8)

Im not sure why you re sayin all this stuff about pve and patterns ... Isn't every MMO since WoW doin the same thing with some more or less thrilling ones ? PvE is all about havin the right gear and gettin used to the fight, nothing new here. And for now in FF XIV its enjoyable, not because of the said fights, but more because its not one of these mmos where everyone buff the dps of the whole raid every 20 seconds. You got time until november to roll another class, gear it up and see the fights with another view, why not profit of ?

Not a single mmo, not one, got a solid and vast endgame straight at release. This is a new game, give it time, if you want that much the diversity and the hardcore content and whatnot, go play pure pvp based mmos where you're looted when you die, not final fantasy

Definitely subscribing, both myself and my non-forum-posting friend. This MMO has real depth, the designers have a clear direction in mind, the combat is fun, the dungeons and landscape are beautiful, and the story is very good. While no game is perfect, the amount of pros far outweigh what few cons there are, and most of those are stylistic decisions themselves (for example, some people complain about how the crafting class quests always have the guildmaster with their arms outspread, looking over what you've crafted. They say its unoriginal. I find it hilarious!)

I haven't even hit 50 yet. Heck, I've only hit 30 on a single class (weaver). I have a -lot- of playtime left in me.

And who says it will be good? After 6 years of watching various mmos crash and burn it always starts out where people praise them for being the best thing ever just to have all that praise go down the drain less than a month later as people find out it's really not much different from any other mmo or the changes that looked so good suddenly are terrible.

I will continue to sub because I am having so much fun. I'm actually considering cancelling my subscription to another MMO I currently play. Though I have fun playing this other MMO, the community for that game is killing it for me. Also, I didn't FATE rush to 50 in the first 2-3 weeks, so I have more than plenty to do. I'm happy taking my time. I'm happy that I may not get a 50 Lancer first but either Paladin or Warrior. A Realm Reborn hasn't been out very long and I'm curious to see how things go.

The only MMO since WoW thats actually worth playing, and has a future ahead of it. Though in its current state FFXIV is a foundation for a great game, but that will take time.

Everything looks great so far, and the fact that Carbine is founded by old blizzard employees that made games when they were good by that company. They know it takes time to make a game, which is why its been delayed and they don't care that there are two other big title MMOs coming out then. I felt this game should have been delayed another 3-4 months after playing beta, but they never and its will cost them a lot of subscribers.

This is actually my first stab at an online RPG and I am loving it. Normally I play a single player game, which at the moment I am doing here as well, but there are many advantages to being part of a community in ARR.
I am an older gamer and can take my time savouring all the games storyline and graphics have to offer. I have 6 characters on different worlds and servers, which happened at the beginning when we couldn't get logged on. I made the characters in different fighting disciplines, so that when a server was down or full, I had choices of others to try. At the moment I am slowly progressing my characters to level 20, and while the story for some is repeated, like Gladiator and Marauder, I can still enjoy engaging the same story with different skill sets weapons and armour.

I have not even started on any of the crafting classes yet, rather concentrating on steady build up before switching some to get my backup skills. There is simply masses of things for me to do and I am enjoying the Final Fantasy backdrop and references to games I enjoyed on consoles years ago. Maybe because I mostly played on consoles before, I am pleased to still be able to use a game pad in this pc game as well, though I admit there are some major control issues of playing with a pad, which strangely weren't evident during the Beta trials?
I have subscribed for 90 days and at this monthly cost I hope I can stay subscribed and enjoying playing for many months ahead. Maybe I am easily pleased, but so long as I'm enjoying it immensely I'll keep paying and playing. If your not then I agree you should leave, it will make the worlds less congested for all of us that ARE enjoying this experience

Already subbed 3 months but that was well before I saw end game....

There is only ONE level 50 4 man dungeon, CM/Prae (little more than easy mode philo farms), 3 HM primal raids (2 are easy, third one is a giant road block) that once you get your weapon and or relic bit there is no point going back, and then the coil which only a VERY small part of the community will get to see. That's it.

Could level an alt class/job but I have almost always find a class I love (WHM) and stick with it. Heck, I played resto druid in that other game almost exclusively for 7 years to give you an idea of my dedication. Basically I am not an 'alt' person....and besides leveling other classes is extremely boring since it revolves around grinding Fates which the first time around was not bad but after that it's really um...not fun.

Could level a crafter but it really does not interest me at all and besides; competing with the other couple 1000 crafters and botters is just not attractive to me.

I will just have to hope that new content is added that adds some longevity. You take Rift at launch which had what 5+ lvl 50 small group dungeons with HM versions, 2x large raids, open world lvl 50 content through public/private raid rifts, and then fully functional PvP systems with 3+ venues for 16+ players to fight in (4v4 mode which is essentially a WoW arena thus no thxs! Wtb AV ;)); it is the only MMO other than WoW/pre-cu swg that has kept me going for more than 6 months. And amusingly, Rift was considered pretty light when comes to end game...so what is FF 14? lol.

Problem is FF 14 has a very limited end game atm compared to even games like SWtoR. Lack of 'end game' content has proven to kill more MMOs than I could count now, I pray FF 14 does not make the same mistakes. Until 2.1 or what ever comes out...there is not much to do really; I can only run AK so many times (over 100 now) before I may find something else to do...

I won't immediately subscribe, but it's highly likely I'll subscribe in a month or so. I just have too much going on in the next month to play. That said, you can kind of count my vote in as a "If I could subscribe, I totally would subscribe."

So basically Wildstar will also offer nothing new and you re excited, good for you. You should give a look at Everquest Next, at least there's some innovation ;)

I played WoW for 7+ years...sure there was a lot of bad apples but my 300+ member guild that I was in for the same duration was down right mature and awesome over all. My faction was also great since we were under dogs so the community was super tight.

How long did you play WoW for? My guess is not very long if at all.

Since Yoshi made a statement ARR is considered as new game, i will put and try my faith to their product for now.
Even though im legacy, i will keep playing... right now there's still a lot of thing to do.... I know they will add huge content ahead sometimes in the future (it's not patch 2.1),
for that i am preparing, gearing, and making money. When i got bored i can play other games for a while...

Definitely not. What a bland, unimpressive experience. It hasn't been a disaster, there just hasn't been a single genuinely good thing about this game.

SE chose the tried and true model instead of innovating but nevertheless managed to deliver two steps short of adequacy on every single front. Every aspect of this game is underwhelming and insufficient for a 2013 title. As soon as the initial curiosity wore off, it became obvious that the developers collectively phoned it in for three years and created something resoundingly below average that I'll have forgotten about in a month.

I won't even be angry, it didn't piss me off like GW2 or self-destruct on arrival like Warhammer Online, this game is simply a decisive level below par in every conceivable way. The only thing it has going for it is being new during an MMORPG drought. Enthusiasm is dropping like a rock, people are coming down from their New Game Smell highs, and all the game's inadequacies are becoming obvious.

The developers clearly had no idea how to make an interesting MMORPG experience and are now moving on to repeat displays of extreme incompetence (banning people for being rich, telling the players of the game's most underpowered class that they all just suck, etc.) which is the last straw for me. Unlike even the biggest MMORPG failures, FFXIV hasn't got a single noteworthy feature or accomplishment. Nothing is special about this game, and it isn't robust enough to get away with just doing the basics.

This game is like the precursor to WoW, not the successor. It's a step back to ten years ago when things like instancing, structured itemization and class roles were just becoming a real thing. For a 2013 title, this has been embarrassing. It's what I would expect in 2003 as the next step after Everquest had only just begun to define these elements of the genre. Square-Enix have slept for a decade and this game is only taken seriously at all because there are so many fans of the Final Fantasy franchise.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at? My experience with WoW was the same as yours, and I played the game from it's beta, with some breaks now and again.

Already have subbed for 180 days only cause they did not have an option to subscribe longer.

You pointed out that pretty much all WoW players (14+ mill back in the day) you have met were/are jerks in that post which is why I replied since that is simply NOT true.

Subscribed for 180 days, and will continue doing so until they shut the game down xD

I won't subscribe, but not for the OP reasons. This game requires dungeons for advancement, but I hate dungeons, and especially hate waiting for one for an hour for a group.

The problem of running AK until T2 capped or CM after AK caps as the only viable means of farming at launch was poorly thought out. The battle is clunky, not fluid at all(even GW2 was better). It's just not fun when your only means for progression involve mindlessly grinding a dungeon only to have SE's shortsighted approach to instance servers making the experience take way longer than necessary, not to mention you don't even spend a 1/3 of the time in the dungeon that you spent waiting to get in, it's inexcusable.

So back at the beginning of the month I took down my payment info and let the account lapse, and unless something really ground breaking happens with the next content patch I likely will not return. Already turned off to the idea of PvP in a game that takes far too long to ping your location before deciding whether or not you actually dodged an attack.

And this is all of course not even counting the nightmare of launch, open beta, early access, etc.

Great post. Pretty damn spot on too.

SE did not try very hard it seems. Perhaps their budget for 2.0 just wasn't much. Or perhaps their developers/coders/network designers just aren't up to par, which ties into their budget I guess..

No I will not be subscribing... There isn't enough stuff for me to do at end game. I would want more than 1 dungeon to gear up.

People are always fighting in dungeons, it became a drag to log in and queue up. I don't have a good FC to go with so nothing is really keeping me in-game.

Gil sellers/botters/cheaters are everywhere and it's annoying, they need to clean that up.

I will watch to see if there are any improvements and subscribe if I want to play again.

I Didn't subscribed :

- Im a dps, too hard to find a group and cant farm dungeons very well, the ilvl spirit is incredibly ridiculous too, I feel useless when I must wait 2 hours to make a dungeon.
- Money is too hard to find, craft and ah are boring, really. I feel I will be broke only with teleports.
- Lags are killing the game in my country I cant even dodge correctly.
- And the main reason that broke my experience : GM didnt do nothing when I accidentaly reseted the relic quest, I lost 80% of my money in it, they cant even give me the green weapon.

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

Ultimate game card is a mess and I don't feel like using 20 each time for a card and since we don't get 15 dollar ones then I won't be playing and anyways there isn't much in this game at the moment to keep me attracted to it. I'm just using my time leveling a lancer right now kinda sad even though I wanted to be a summoner but sadly they just made it into a warlock from wow so ya won't be looking at this game for awhile now.

The primals are just side stuff that isn't even part of the end game just gives you a cool looking weapon which is equal to the relic weapon. Coil was just added to give people something to do for those that have cleared all of the current end game content which is getting full dark light and relic weapon but otherwise once you have all that there really isn't much left to do in the game. i liked the game when i was leveling but the end game ohhhh gooooood the end gameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, its sooo boriiing i dont feel the fantasy anymore.

Untill they clean up RMT and botters, i have trouble finding the motivation to pay for this. i am tired of blisting 5-10 rmt every time i log in multiple times a day, visiting cities are a nightmare but i HAVE to go to them if i need to craft or quests. I pretty much have to be a healer if don't want to wait hours to get a group and hope they don't suck, i don't even want to think about endgame right now with how horrible the attitudes are.

It's incredibly sad that when someone says they are new, people just bail. This is the complete opposite of what this game is about, the game it self isn't that bad it's the people killing it.

Its pretty funny people keep mentioning end game is boring and when you search them in lodestone all they have are dl gears :/


Just because you have full DL gear means you reached end game. End game is coil gears.

I will subscribe but i hope they make some way for DoW/DoM to make a bit of money soon
I really have 0 interest in crafting/gathering but I am soon broke because of repair costs...

EQ Next, are you serious? they may be innovative for an MMO but some of the features they are putting in are just going to end in utter tragedy or being very limited.
