I think it is funny that everyone complains about content lacking in the game then when they add more quests they complain about them. SE is thinking of the game on the whole not the individual quest you are doing at the moment. It is an end product result.
I for one an excited to see these quests and if they play a bigger part in drawing me further into the story and world about me like the added city quests have.
p.s. does this notice board remind anyone else of the notice board in 12 amd 13 for the wanted monsters? I love recurring elements in my favorite games :P
Ok so how does this actualy work
the board says what they want, do you take it to the guild? or how do you accept it
i suppose im wrong but its to my understanding that not only is the average player done being under R10 with/either class theyre interested in, but it literally only takes a few hours, literally at most, to get to R10 on any class anyway so whats the point of this? shouldnt we add simple things for mid level players to do as top priority?
Yes because clearly they had you in mind with this update. Again, people don't get they're not fixing the game for you any more, they're fixing it to have a successful PS3 launch - this system helps the lowbies out big time in the meantime, I'm sure they'll add a lot to it.
think of it as a small infusion of sp for now for a turn in
doing it once here and there gives nothing until they give us higher ranked ones(which could tier based on what youve done already or they could be using this to test the system and add more per patch)
im doing them on my high ranked stuff for extra sp on crafts i HATE leveling(cooking)
We now have 4 variations of quests. with another type coming soon and a another coming after that.
Thats 6 variations of quests in a game less then a year old. Thats more then any other game I've played.
I think the broader point this speaks to is that we would like more information on the future implementation of this newly added feature and maybe some idea of how it will work in the meantime. The whole "here is something new to figure out" and slew of people speculating on its random rules is not every player's cup of tea.
Does the job you hand in have to be 10-20 to get sp? Or can I get sp for doing a job with my level 34 alchemist and get points?
wow, just 5 shards for r1? thats garbage :P
Kay, I'm away till wensday/thursday so wont get to log in untill then, it's not a huge bonus, but thats still 1-2 crafts plus the bigger bonus is the shards :> probably a good one for sure for headache crafts like cooking 30+
Good news tho. Blacksmith and Armorer are separate for this ^^. Yay
SE is most likely starting out low rank tasks as a foundation for what the higher rank tasks will be. In other words, more waiting.
Damn, Skill Points for a reward? I was hoping it'd be Guild Points. It'd make more sense, and give us a nice steady way to gain GP instead of random rewarding on local leves.
Oh well, I'm glad to see those boards and counter NPCs actually doing something now.
I love waiting. Let me know when they add rank 40 stuff and higher. Time to play more of my ps2 emulator. x.x I laughed when I spent like 4 hours fighting with the godforsaken patcher, only to login check the board and do a few turn-ins in Ul'dah? I really wish they wouldn't put in pointless patches with insignificant amounts of content. I'm 80% tempted to go back to FFXI but then I'd have to pay for it.
I think the board system is a great idea. I'd like to see other ones utilized for hunting down certain NMs. Maybe some NMs that wander a zone and need to be hunted down. That'd be something fun to do running around on Chocobos! (hint, hint SE lol)
I actually agree with him. I wish they would update the game every 3 months that way I wouldn't have to check this damn site so often, but then when they do release something I actually get excited.
Edit: and to clarify I was never on the, "give us updates every two weeks!" bandwagon.
Exactly, this patch entertained me for about 15 minutes, then I was bored of it and logged off again. I'd rather have a GOOD patch every 3-6 months like FFXI than all these insignificant patches every other week. I mean guild tasks are a good idea, don't get me wrong...but only adding level 1 and 10 sets? Why not make it so the higher people can benefit and get worthwhile sp as well? Just seems like they dropped the ball with this. Also didn't they say this was around 30% of the content of patch 1.17? Cause patch 1.17 if it was 70% their numbers are way off. They didn't even fix the easter quest or give any additional info.
I'm all for the implementation of supplemental content, but this was beyond lazy.
Garbage patch lol, this system is very boring.
Ah well, cant argue with it anymore, auto response is "they busy with battle systems!" What every single member on the team? lol
You know what, I will complain a LOT about this game (it deserves it) but I won't really complain too much about guild tasks. Its something that I was not expecting and its at least something new to try out. I don't really like crafting as I found it boring but with this it gives me a chance to use some of my random items I have lying in my inventory. This was the first time I tried crafting something that was NOT a from a local leve.
This feels like it was more like someone (like a specific random dev) had a idea and figured they could implement this fairly quickly with the existing code, or they had it in the bank of unused code and just needed to finish it. Yes it feels half baked like everything else but its a start, also if your lower level like I am with crafting it gives me you extra goal to try and complete.
Also this NPC line made the whole thing 1000% better for me.

Bodenolf: Th' Admiral's got us workin' the forges day and night, readyin' the armada fer somethin' big. Left our stockhouses bare as a whore's back end, it has, but the guilds ain't got the manpower t' plenish 'em. 'Tis why the forgemaster started postin' tasks on the wall o' th' Wench. Might ye be interested?
I wonder how the daily selection of tasks is going to change, obviously it can't all be the same stuff everyday. Also it really shows how much you have to look outside XIV to get basic info, I wouldn't know like 95% of the recipes for this stuff if I didn't have outside guides for it.
