Points well taken and appreciated.
Also, so right on the FPS on consoles. I will never get it.

ok, people dont want server cross dungeons, but with our low population is needed something to create partys easier than now (sure system is good, but too complex for some people)
How about a NPC in each city that allow u to "subscribe" different events (like dungeons, or more future content) and a search system like Markets to see WHO is subscribed on each event?
I personally doubt there will be many issues making parties when people are actually motivated to create them. Although for dungeons and stuff it would be nice for there to be a list of players to sign up as.
"Interested in joining a group"
Then again forums and normal social interactions have been the backbone of a orginizational hub like this, and I'm sure they would do perfectly fine for people looking to join linkshells and other such groups for group events until they find themselves a good group of friends to play with.
I think this would be a great idea, I remember when it was almost impossible to get sky or sea access in XI unless you were able to find a good commited group of people who you could work with on your server. I never had this problem but I do recall many people who applied to the end game shell I was in, being turned down because this was mandatory (before you say they should have should have shouted, been more outgoing etc. a lot of these people were with no success as noone wanted to do these missions over again or were tired of helping.) It would be nice if they had access to something like this to hook up with people from other servers who needed the same mission/battle done so they could move on, and get to enjoy the end game content that the end game LSes afforded.
Having Sea/Sky access wasnt a requirement for some LS just because of the content there, but because it also showed that the player had initiative, decent teamwork skills, and was competent.
Take charge and form your own group to complete these dungeons! Relying on SE to make some sort of matchmaker is pretty silly and lazy.
I duod every fight to get sky at 75. You could solo all of it if you were really good x_x(I was scared of soloing the zilart guy @ the top of the tower + soloing other fights)
You know what I think is funny, I don't like Western style games usually, but I was reading an article about Rift, and they make you group up for everything, quests, leveling, people always have the option to join your party and they do often. So no one plays that game alone unless they are specifically trying to be antisocial. Rift beat us with group based play.....LOL!
I don't appreciate that kind of attitude. It gives the impression that you judge entire groups of people that you don't even know.
Game systems that take out unneeded time sinks and boredom are good. They would not be "catering to the instant-gratification needs" of anyone. They would be facilitating the use of the parts of the game that people find enjoyable.
If you find enjoyment in asking friends or others to help you accomplish goals then fine. A lot of people don't and would rather experience parts of the game without the hassle.
I still don't understand how the content its self is any different regardless of how the group came to being. What lvl of coordination and skill the content is geared towards is a hole different matter entity.
So can you drop the old man looking down at the rest of the world act now? Instant gratification is part of the human condition and has been since recorded history. Sometimes it is fun running past steps 1 2 and 3 to get to a more enjoyable 4.
What you have to take into account before anyone will take you seriously on the subject is that if the people involved have skipped over steps 1 2 and 3 when it comes to skill, coordination, and planing they wont make it through the dungeon anyway. And that is the dedication the game should take into account, not pro Facebook friend finder skills that you deem so very important.
What are you talking about? Rift is like WOW, it's 100% solo based until the level cap(50). Do not repeat things you read, because people post EXTREMELY retarded things that are 10000% wrong(This is why Kilta should not be posting, her opinion is based off of other things people say which are probably just as wrong). I played rift, hit 50, and have experience with it. I solod to 50 doing easy quests, it is not a group based game at all. Everyone levels solo.
Yeah, I agree with this. it's really annoying, companies shouldn't focus on spoon-feeding people. People need to stop being dumb and actually try for once, instead of being lazy.Quote:
So SE is required to literally spoon-feed their players?
Maybe instead, SE should try to find a compromise instead of just catering to the instant-gratification needs of part of the player base.
i sure hope this is not a queue game where the only time you see anyone is in town.
nononono, wait: there is some people that, for some reason, don't wanna a feature.
They can absolutely avoid a LFG cross-server if they don't want use that but, and I don't really understand why (I'm trying to be polite), they see that tool as a menace for their gameplay.
I don't want waste my time waiting near totonawa, and I don't wanna lose my time creating a party. I have done for years and now there are (nice) tools for this issue.

I don't care if I can still talk to them, I won't see them in the world. If they add cross server friend lists/queueing, then I'm still playing a lobby game, a FPS, D2, etc, and not a MMO. How boring.
Not knowing ANYONE on your server in WOW is a horrible feeling. In vanilla I knew almost everyone, even their alts. In WOTLK I pretty much didn't know who anyone was at all, because of dungeon finder, cross server bgs, cross server arenas, faction changes, server transfers(3 day cd really?) name changes, etc. Might as well not be a MMORPG at this point.
Too bad this is what the new gen of gamers want, you know, that gen who plays FPS on their consoles(LOL), and other retarded things.
I love you guys, I really do :)Quote:

I understand there are many levels of play. Being an MMO you cannot avoid veriaty, that is half the point of the genre. However, this does not mean that the game should cater to the easiest option every single time.
Tbh, when I pay for a game, I want some challenge to it. Otherwise I might as well spent that money on movies and watched them without lifting a finger
Kimiko x
i think this game will be payable when ps3 version is released. but for now it lacks
I play rift last week when they give rift weekend free and i play with my gf and let me say :) everything is solo like wow. you even start doing PVP at 10 like wow and start doing dungeon at 15. the only time you party with others is when you doing the random rift that can happen in the area you are in. each rift have a level you go to it a fight on your right side of the screen is your quest log and it would tell you want you need to kill to win the wave of mobs. It's like garrison in ffxi in many ways at the end you fight a boss and you close up the rift. Now rift is fun like hell vs wow in pvp there no BOA which is a item you can only get if you have a char at max and did the dungeon for them. Pretty much anyone with BOA can one shot you in wow tho some are dumb and still die with it. In rift the pvp is fun i can even kill a person 5-6lvls above as long as i do what i need to do.
With the rift, quest and dungons and "pvp battle ground" you always busy too busy to even do quest sometimes. You can even make your own class by making 3 class within your tree. Tho i don't like rift that much i do i have to say i enjoy it more then WoW. Most of the makers of rift made wow so everything in Rift is a better version then in wow to some point. But at the end it a solo game which FFXIV should not even try to do allow to solo but the main thing in ffxiv should be party base. i don't know why FFXIV trying to feed you everything like a kid i think players need to stop being lazy and work for something in a game at least. everything in a game should not be 100% solo/casual i find that very boring if i can solo everything why would i even play with my friends or gf it be 10x easy with others.
oh btw the rift are auto party so soon you sit foot in the battle you enter a party with the other players around or right click a person and auto join.
I didn't mean "make you group" i kinda rushed what I was saying, I was talking about the auto group feature, I found it similar to Vindictus almost where someone could see you were going to a specific dungeon and could join. But I did not play, I read an article and watched a friend play. I just thought their auto group feature was cool, it wouldn't work in XIV.
I also vote against cross server interaction in any significant way... Too easy for it to cause unwanted griefing and etc. One of the things that gives the FF mmo's such a good feel is the close knit server system, and cross server interaction just brings out the worst in some people, since they know they can grief away and not suffer any loss of reputation or any consequences at all really, save for being kicked from that particular group, after nabbing a drop or ruining a party or whatever... Then they are just free to go on to do it again in another group.
Maybe cross server stuff would work if there was some kind of a ban for it or something... Like if you get kicked 3 times for grief related things, you're banned from cross server stuff for at least the rest of the month or something. Would probably work as long as the vote to kick had other options, such as kick due to afk, kick due to needing a different role or wanting room for a friend/lsmate, and then kick due to griefing, etc.
/agree to all this above. Final Fantasy should never be to other MMO like RIFT is to WOW. If I wanted another WoW knockoff or twist id stick around for another expansion or race in that game. I like Final Fantasy cause it is the Final Fantasy world and feel/game play. There are some bugs and I have been angry at times due to those bugs but the end result is worth the wait in my opinion. This patch's download time however is not.... lol
