Except I still out heal WHM's every time even when not factoring in bubbles. So your "argument" is invalid. I've been able to keep the group alive solo and res our dead White Mage many times with little incident in Ifrit hard mode.

1) Bubbles aren't over-healing.
2) Scholars have very little over-healing - it's WHM's with the double regens that often tick with people at full health.

Thus, the "overall healing" isn't just getting stacked with little effect on the actual healing being done like you're inferring.

3) I can bring a tank back from near death just like a WHM can. 3x Lustrate (off GCD) + 1 Adloq will bring anyone to full with little issue. Oh an my Faerie healed the tank during that little mishap too.

The entire point of a Scholar is to not let yourself get behind on healing, by using your bubbles correctly, and to say that we can't recover from that is just silly and illustrates you have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to healing.

WHM can out heal us on burst AoE - The end.

Um, no. You fire off your heals before a WHM ever would because they have less potency and you don't have to worry about the overheal.

For instance, you'll fire off an Adloquium at a ~500 health deficit. A WHM would wait til the same target has a 1000+ deficit. You also can feel more at ease using that Adloquium in a multi-healer environment because there s less chance that heal ends up being wasted when multiple healers are topping off targets.

Of course the big thing is the fairy. A no resource embrace that anyone worth a nickel will be spamming endlessly regardless of overheal.

Where in your thought process do you not realize that bubble heals are more effective than reactive heals? Have you ever healed any competitive progression raiding? That Adloquium has the same effective healing as the WHM heal (way more effectiveness if it crits), but gave the tank an effective +500 HP. Those are also using your numbers, my Adloq heals for ~700 consistently giving me a ~1400hp heal non crit.

I can maintain higher HPS for much longer than a WHM, prevent them from healing with my own heals, give myself multiple buffers through the reduced damage Scholars receive, and have 3 on demand instant off-gcd heals for the tank if there is a moment where I get slightly behind.

Please illustrate where I am "not as powerful as I might think", because all you've done this far is inadvertently prove why Scholars are just as good as WHM's twice now.

So, based on what YOU posted - it appears you either fail to understand that bubbles are still heals and they aren't inflating anything, or you're trying to justify your decision of playing a WHM over a SCH, which is completely unnecessary I might add.

It's silly to come here and expect everyone to just subscribe to your line of thinking without any factual evidence or math that supports your statement of "SCH only look strong because they can bubble, they're not that good".

The only thing we can't compete with is Cure III - your burst AOE healing capability (which I already conceded to multiple times in this thread), and you're not going to be spamming that anyway.

Now we're also getting right back to the argument of over-healing stacking the meters and not really being as powerful as it "looks". More often than not heal over time spells end up as over-heals because of how long (21 seconds) it takes for the full value of the heal to be applied to the target.

Oh FFS...Neither class is hurting for healing power. Bubbles are fantastic, but its their nature to snipe heals from a relative healer, that doesn't diminish them in any way, but it's going to skew a parse. It's basically like you getting a head start on your wack-a-mole.

You're acting like SCH dominate WHMs because of a parse and its logically unsound. The SCH is in no way weak and I'm not saying that, but neither is it heads and tails above a WHM like your parse(and you) would suggest.

Your fairy heals being free are not relevant to healing throughput. If the fight becomes a MP battle, that's obviously a big bonus for SCH, but it's not any different than me pointing out my Regens can't die or require healing themselves to keep alive in certain fights,

I think we are inadvertently arguing the same point. If you go back to my original posts in this thread they are responses to people saying that SCH needs to be buffed because we suck vs. WHM. Which you and I both know, is complete crap. I didn't post this information to say that WHM's are terrible and people are stupid for playing the class. I only brought up the healing parses because it was being taken as gospel that SCH couldn't compete with a WHM on any level.

I am a strong proponent of WHM's and think it's an amazing class. I'm going to be leveling my CNJ to 50 now just so I can be as flexible a healer as possible. I also love healing with 1 WHM 1 SCH vs 2 SCH. Two scholars are just not as effective as WHM/SCH healing combo. WHM/SCH is borderline OP.

My faerie's heals are free. Your regens are not. My faerie heals 300 value in 2.5 seconds and 600 in 5.5. Your regen heals 300 value in 23.5 (not considering reduced GCD) seconds. How was this a fair comparison again?

Complete misinformation, fairy first off has a recast of 3 sec. Secondly it takes her her 3.5 to 6 seconds to heal. Watch any hard mode fight and notice the occasional delay between fairy or even just play sch .
1. There is always a small delay for her to heal after we issue the command
2. Occasionally a random 1-2 sec delay when we command
3. We cant command whilst casting.
4. She wont heal players till they are 70% there has been occasional where people have low but fairy wasnt healing.


The ai is not perfect. Regen is always reliable compared to fairy.

Top guilds are stacking whm for titan and bahamut coil. I have not seen sch stack in highest endgame yet

Fixed.

The faerie's heal is 2.5 second cast with a 3 second cooldown. My math is spot on, you are incorrect, the delay you are noticing is waiting for the 3 second cooldown. She chain casts using Embrace on cooldown if there is HP to be healed or isn't busy casting one of her other spells.

I have an idea, why don't YOU post a video with Eos in range of the tank *not* casting for 6 seconds when (s)he's missing HP.

That is such a ludicrous claim I can't believe you're even posting it. A 4-6 second delay on the Faerie healing would make Scholar healing impossible. It's been noticed, acknowledged, and praised by several posters that the Faerie AI has no delay or susceptibility to latency.

Edit: Updated to respond to your insane logic. Even if it took Faerie 4-6 seconds to heal 300 value, regen still takes 5.5 seconds to do the same amount of healing and costs a WHM mana.

I have noticed mine will wait until someone had taken a more significant amount of damage and then chaincast two or three embraces extremely quickly instead of keeping people topped off at a more reasonable level.

Generally the problem occurs when are chain healing physick and aqua while trying to get the faerie to heal, sometimes the command doesnt go thru.

Once you get to a point where your tank has 6000 hp, she won't wait as long to start a heal as you currently see at lower levels when players have HP pools that are closer to the tank's total HP.

She heals the tank like crazy when she's in range (use place). There are often times where you will be in range to heal the tank, but Eos is not in range and won't heal at all.

One example: I have found that placing Eos on the tail of Ifrit increases her healing throughput exponentially vs. letting her follow me around.

Most hard modes a small deficiet is bad, because of the one shot potential (e.g titan). Like someone said before she will wait till the peeps are much lower hp(especially non tanks).

If you're trying to micro Embrace, you are doing it wrong - it's really that simple. All you are doing is delaying your own heals from being cast and healing priority targets.

If you're trying to micro the AoE regen, +20% magic protect, and +increased healing that's fine.

So it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Proper placement of the Faerie (in range of the tank) and trusting the heals to be there is more productive, better throughput, and ultimately makes you a better healer.

The way the tool-tip was phrased in Phase 3 (and maybe 4) described it as being 150 value spread out over the 21 seconds.

Considering it's common knowledge that you can't cast your own spells when trying to cast pet spells or vice versa - you just admitted you prioritize using a 300 value heal from a pet instead of one of your own 400 or 600-1350 value heals in clutch situations.

And Eos get's a 100 value HoT that can be applied to 8 targets. Why are we even comparing a single target pet heal to regen from a class ability?

Actually he's right, it's better to control your pet manually. Your pet's GCD is separate from your own, so if you keybind his skills and tell him to cast Embrace right before you cast your own heal, you and the pet can both heal the same person at the same time nonstop. You're not using your own GCD to tell the fairy to heal and he then can cast the skill while you cast your own. All you do is instant click the Embrace keybind, then click your own heal. What you can't do is cast your heal first and THEN tell the fairy to heal, but you can easily do it the other way around, which makes total sense if you think about it.

When I click Embrace while my GCD is on CD, she doesn't respond. How do you have it keybound? Are you using a macro, binding a key to the pet bar, or dragging it out of your Pet section of character abilities?

The whole basis of my argument is that I feel like I've had to both wait for GCD to be off CD and wait for her to start casting before I can start my own heal.

If this is not correct - my keybind is broken and I concede that I am wrong.

check your ability book bro , put embrace onto the action bar. Ofc make sure its the right embrace spell since there is 2.

If u press embrace keybind either before or during the .5 sec off free time after physick/aql , she should cast it on your target .She occasionally doesnt tho which i would like fixed.

Drag the pet skills from the skill menu onto your action bars, assign a keybind to it. Press pet keybind, then press Physick/Adloquium.

That's how I had it set up - and it wasn't working. Granted this was a week ago when the duty finder was laggy and kicking people into 90000 so I shall try again. And yes I had the right Embrace, they're different colors.

2 pets has 2 different embraces, but you can only let one out at a time. Why on earth do I have to swap them manually each time I swap pet 0,0?

Btw you can tell your pet to heal one target THEN you heal that target also, its true. Thats the only way to focus heal at the moment as your pet command actions are considered as an instant cast (albeit without accompanied GCD). Questionable/stupid mechanics. Once you get used to it you will adjust yourself to mic your pet between cast.. At least its better than let it auto heal. Pet AI is to idiotic to be trusted.

I dunno I find it annoying. But you can keybind the pet bar if you really wanted to. It's in the keybinding menu along with all your other action bars. Solves that problem easily. The only reason I don't do it is because I want to use keybinds for my pet that I have on one of my main bars so spreading out the keys between two bars would look weird and mess me up too much, not to mention it would screw up my other jobs.

There is no point to keybind my pet bar for now as its almost useless, I only need to manual cast embrace and heel/move.

If I could macro it to casting the spell then re-entering steady stance I would be ok with it. Or if they fixed the obey command for fairy.

Edited to reply to post below, dumb post limit- that is what obey SHOULD do if I understand it, use only basic ability on it's own and allow you to command the others.

noone will choose 2sch over 2 whm or 1sch 1whm, the videos and screenies of bahamut have been of 2whm. Sch dont stack well compared to whm(medica2 and regen stack is crazy healing). titan vids are 3 whm or 2whm 1sch.

SCH and WHM are different for a reason and fill different roles and situations. Instead of trying to nerf one class or be jealous of one we should focus on how to improve our own without trying to focus too much on the other imo.

Shields are not healing they are absortion... they never fall in the same list in any of the healing counters i have had.

Because prevented damage is always superior to healed taken damage.

Between FF11, FF14 (both versions), Phantasy star, Aion, Guild Wars, everquest, and tons of free to play like shaiya, rappelz, free world int (ones that actually have healing classes)... and in all of them i talent (if able) to all solid heals and no absorption shields. besides absorption isnt healing.. its ABSORPTION... im sure thats a shock to some of you..

Yeah as a SCH I felt I needed Much Stronger heals yesterday when 3 guys from Shiva let me tank the adds in AK at last boss, and then complained that the DPS were dieing while I was healing the tank, and then tank dieing whyle I as healing the dps, Huehuehue.

Between FF11, FF14 (both versions), Phantasy star, Aion, Guild Wars, everquest, and tons of free to play like shaiya, rappelz, free world int (ones that actually have healing classes)... and in all of them i talent (if able) to all solid heals and no absorption shields. besides absorption isnt healing.. its ABSORPTION... im sure thats a shock to some of you..

Yes, absorption is not healing. In fact, as Apollo said, it is better than healing.

Absorption gives you two important abilities regular heals wont ever be able to match:


- Ignoring boss mechanics. With a decent absorb shield up, players are able to take hits that should (in theory) oneshot them. Especially important in fights with lots of AE in combination with heavy single target hits.
- Burst healing before damage happens. Usually (no matter the MMO), boss damage happens in spikes. Typically, large parts of boss fights will have relatively low damage done to the party, followed by periods of heavy damage or periods in which healing is made difficult/impossibly due to som mechanic. In these situations, being an absorb healer means having the MASSIVE advantage of being able to do some 'healing' before the damage happens, which hugely faciliates topping off the group during or after the damage period.

I'd say some boost to the AoE output would be useful, as well as improved Pet AI (or at least better control of their abilities through macros would be GREATLY appreciated) though otherwise I think scholars are fine. I feel they do taper a bit compared to Whm in terms of not wanting 2 in a 8 man, mostly due to the fact they don't have that big UMPH aoe heal. They are a bit behind i feel to WHM due to the aoe aspect, but far from being 'gimp'.

Gentle buffs, but no where near needing a big buff.

In my opinion, Scholar seems prefectly fine except for 2 major annoyances :

- Pet control/AI/lack of macros, should be remedied asap. I don't really mind not being able to control pet while casting, but at least give me te possibility to facilitate some stuff through macros.

- Shields from Succor and Adloquium not stacking. A relatively easy solution would be to turn any additional shields into minor HoTs. It prevents the possible OPness of stacking shields, but also prevents the gimping of having multiple SCH in a party. It'd be a different take on WHM's Medica, yet WHM's burst AoE heal would remain superior.

I really want to know how you play, as I never have any problems of fairy taking a long time to heal. Not counting the weird spots in some maps where she's apparently out of sight of the tank and won't do anything until you move her a bit. That's a bit annoying, but I've seen it happen only a couple of times.

She heals the tank like crazy when she's in range (use place). There are often times where you will be in range to heal the tank, but Eos is not in range and won't heal at all.

One example: I have found that placing Eos on the tail of Ifrit increases her healing throughput exponentially vs. letting her follow me around.

In my experience, faeries start to heal at around 75-80%, and they should almost always be told to stand still. They won't die to random aoe, and letting them follow you will just decrease the time they're healing, and sometimes they will even interrupt their cast to follow you.
