Error 401 and 601 CE Upgrade

I tried 5 times to pay for my subscription and each time I had the 601 error. It's a shame cause I like this game and want to pay but SE doesn't want my money. I'm starting to have flashbacks of trying to get my card to work with ff11.

I don't get it, you would think they would have this fixed by now. Most companies would fix the problem fast when it affects their wallet. SE really needs to get their act together.

This is exactly what I thought worked yesterday, only to find out today that the payment was canceled :/ I'm about 60% sure I had the 2000 crysta in my account last night when i went to bed and today when i checked the balance was zero and the payment canceled by SE.

This is a huge joke. How much egg can SE have on their face? So many damn issues. PAYMENT should not be one. This is unbelievable. It is like opening a store without a cash register. Ashamed of SE, and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Edit: Seems like now lodestone is down for maintenance, hopefully they resolve this issue. Just use paypal, god damn!

Tried buying crysta, tried IE, Tried Firefox. All addons off, (dangerous).
All that is left is to buy a game card and try and redeem, I don't feel like that is necessary.

Edit 3: it is back up, and still 401 and 601 errors.

I shall state I am not alone as well, been trying all morning on my end to get in.

Shame I register but the card didn't show up afterwords on the ffxiv mog station or the old style site, kept trying to redirect me to put the same info that I put in mog station on the old payment site, but after awhile it started throwing me the 401 and 601 error codes.

It boggles my mind that there can be so much incompetence when it comes to setting up a payment system that works.....

As it stand me and I am sure many other 1.0 vets are locked out of the game as of right now.....

Another 601 here. please let me put food on your table SE. I am also 1.0 CE customer, it seems the problem is restricted to us.

This is the ticket I just opened up after my latest fairly to pay for crysta using an ultimate gamers card(i know the prepaid card was declined by SE?!?!!!). It reads as follows:

"I'm going to write a ticket everyday until this is resolved. these are the steps I personally have taken in order to pay for the subscription fees:

-Debit card(failed)
-Credit card(failed)
-Credit card from another bank(failed)
-tried to sign up with ultimatepay(failed on their end)
-purchase crysta using paypal(thought it worked but the next day the payment was canceled by YOU)
-purchase crysta using an ultimate gamers card code(the code was seriously declined by you. That's odd because there's nothing connecting it to a bank or anything. It's a prepaid card!!!)

Hmm I'm a 1.0 vet I guess too... although I didn't play the game as much. Definitly seems like SE dropped the ball on getting a decent company to setup/manage/maintain their billing. Its even worse if what people are saying about CSupport blaming customers and their cards...

I bet this is why it seemed like there weren't as many people on last night. I'm on a Japanese server and I think they are a day ahead of the US so they probably got kicked off sooner.

My wife and I had our subs for 90 renewal and v1.0 vets, woke up this morning and said we had no payment information, tried using 2 different cards from 2 different banks still got the same error


I understand a botched launch, it happens, but when someone starts messing with yer money, its time to get out of sleepy land and get it fixed pronto

Also a owner of v1.0 CE with the same problem.
Can't believe they're testing the patience of their players so intensely. First the 1017 and 9000 bosses, and now the new ones, 601 and 401.
Square really knows how to make people quit playing. Even if they want or not.

I have tried most of the methods mentioned above Credit card, Paypal, UltimatePay..etc, none of them works.
As a former 11 player, I am disappointed with the SE once again.

I'm a 1.0 CE legacy player, having the same issues. Two of my roommates are also 1.0 CE legacy members, and both are having the exact same issue. Incredibly frustrating. I've tried entering my credit card/debit card, only to get the 601. I also tried purchasing Crysta, only to have the order immediately canceled and my money refunded by the vendor.

Just two more frustrating hours until we can hammer support, at least. Hopefully it can be resolved quickly.

This goes past quit playing. Right now I'm infuriated that their customer service is nonresponsive. I would assume after the problem was discovered today that so many payments that were established suddenly disappeared, SOMEONE would have put out some kind of notice to the public. "hey sorry there was an error with ______. We understand your frustration and ask your patience as we work to fix the issue". Something!! But no, all day it's been quiet about this problem.

This isn't just a botched launch. This isn't just a botched relaunch. This is a complete breakdown of their system. This is the kind of thing that leads to massive distrust even among hardcore fans and eventual bankruptcy. Everything is compounding together very quickly and if they don't address these issues quickly WHILE informing their customers to their recognition of said issues and plans to fix them, that is ultimately where it is going to lead. They did a fantastic job keeping us informed when the old production team got canned and the new one stepped in to build this wonderful game for us to play. Jobs not done!!! Continue giving us that support or see your servers suddenly empty when no one can pay to play anymore.

Same problem here, a v1.0 CE account, tried 3 different cards from different banks and no luck.
Since it's obvious the problem lies with Square I guess it makes no sense to keep trying. I just hope they manage to resolve it soon.

1.0 owner here, having the same issue. Tried the original credit card I used to sub to 1.0, yet error 601.

I'm actually living in Tokyo now, thinking about going and knocking on their HQ door to see what happens.

If this isn't resolved GG my time spent leveling my Glad up to 50 =(.

This is why their FF MMO's fail.

Update: seems like ultimate pay is down, and might be the cause of everything.

Except I wasn't even using Ultimate Pay. I was using CC/Debit Card...

My friend, also a 1.0 player had the same problem. Just bought a fresh copy and registered his credit card with no issue, so looks like they want us to rebuy the game afterall =P.

I wonder how many pages a thread must get to before SE announces something.
Free game time until this is fixed is the only solution.

After getting ping pong'd by the twin errors 401 and 601 I've decided to contact the support center, I queued at 18, after 2hrs I've finally reached #1, few minutes later I get this:

"Status: Canceled
There are no agents available to chat with you right now. Please try again later."

This is unprofessional and your support center is the worst since 2004. I'm so disappointed.

Credit Card: Fail
Debit Card: Fail
Visa/Master Card/AMEX: Fail
Crysta through SE: Fail
Crysta through UltimatePlay: Fail
UltimatePlay with Visa/Master Card/Amex/ Paypal: FAIL
Internet Explorer: Fail
Firefox: Fail
Chrome: Fail
Email support: Fail
Chat support: Fail
Call center: Closed (which for a global product, should be 24/7)
Ultimateplay website: Login FAIL/website down?
SE staff, what the hell? How much failure do we have to put up with? I am glad your server issues were resolved, but until this gets resolved, Free game time check box must be turned on. This is unacceptable.

Error 401 / Error 601

I play on other games, one by a company called Kixeye, really terrible company, crappy costumer service, laggy glitchy game most of the time, but rest assured if something goes wrong with their payment options they get it fixed asap so they are back as fast as possible to take yer money... SE has payment issues people want to give them money and yet they dont take it..

Why can't those people be re-directed to centers that are open?
This is a global game, that is open 24 hours a day, you need to have support.
You don't open a 24 hour store and leave it unattended without CSRs. Why? Because Customers will have issues.

Unfortunately, this is about par for the course with SE. Has always been this way. Bit frustrating that they still can't get billing right after all these years. Seriously. Never had anything remotely close to these kinds of issues with ANY other MMORPG I've played over the past twelve years.

Its how Japan is in general. Hell, most some hospitals are only open 9-8, so good luck getting admitted if you get in a car wreck at 3 am.

I spoke with Globalcollect, it is not their issue either.
The fact that a customer is having to call to track down Square Enix's problem is ridiculous.
