That could very easily be material melding, my friend.
Do not get overhype

True since it was originally referred to as such 'materia crafting' - though I hope their localization examines the wording. Distilling memories / assimilating memories really isnt a craft, as it stands currently (see further below also).
Before someone semi-logically says "what about brewery" you have to realize brewery also includes combining multiple materials, times, processes, and more then I can think of - can actually go along a recipe. Materia's only recipe is level and type, so if you want to argue crafting on those lines then I guess its an extremely shallow crafting experience Xd (shallow experience != good, rewording would lend better light if this is really the goal still).
* Dont want to insinuate complex recipe = good crafting, just meaning crafting is an involved processes requiring skill generally with hands specifically. Materia in the past really didnt fit this, unless skill = 2 seconds of rng while it converts into rng type of rng tier.
Certainly hoping for more then just the original - but we will see.
Ya, i realize that. Just seemed odd wording and i didn't see anyone discussing it yet.
Going with the Max Time for each phase since SE tends to do stuff later rather then sooner I got this timeline estimation.
Feb 18 - Beta Phase 1
April 1 - Beta Phase 2
May 6 - Beta Phase 3
June 10 - Beta Phase 4
Launch Late June / July ?
I vote August for launch
I vote the game is released when it is ready :P
No word on benchmark? I am so excited to finally get to play, even if I have to wait more. ; ;
55(ish) days and counting!
22 September :D
3 years after official original release seem like a neat little trick for SE to do, that or soon after the E3 hype!

And let Yoshi handle this like a boss.
Launch date for me will be as soon as I can import my character, I'm used to playing half ass games. Beta should still be better then 1.0
SE needs to market this game. A lot. This needs to happen at a worldwide event like E3. E3 is all about new games rather than those already released. Logic tells me the chance of this game releasing before E3 is 0.
Even if all beta testing is completed by the middle of May they will hold off the launch until after E3. They may even artificially extend the latter phases for this reason. Alpha was originally meant to end mid-December but they let it run a bit longer to let more people in.
This game will launch mid to late June if there are no delays. Don't expect it any earlier but do expect it later as delays always happen on big projects.
looking like summer time launch, so ill say Sep 2013.
Beta... yeah yeah yeah yeah... Beta Beta Beta Beta... :D
Yay, can't wait for Mid Feb!!
Giving Legacy account holders guaranteed access? Hard to believe, but if it's been confirmed by the Subligar King... hmmm..
Anyways, if it is true, then it is further proof that this time around, YoshiP and staff are really showing some customer relations on an entirely new level.
SE is the ultimate team player out of any company i seen up to date. they actually talk to the people paying for there services.
What logic exactly? With all due respect it doesn't seem much logic, as much lack of knowledge on how marketing and the industry work.
E3 is a press/industry event. It's not a consumer event. The marketing effect of having a game at E3 towards customers is very, very limited, especially if a game has been already announced and shown a lot.Quote:

What works as E3 is New announcements. IE: Showing games that have never been shown before. This doesn't apply at all to FFXIV: ARR.
By your logic they should wait for october and launch after Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom, that are partly consumer events and more in line with their target. And even then, the marketing effect would be very, very limited.
"logic" (the real one, based on actual marketing, not on "OMG E3!") would actually dictate to release as soon as the game is ready. Due to the alpha and the roadmap the hype is already building. Hype works like a bell curve, and launching later rather than earlier means doing so when the curve is already going down.
I really cannot stifle a chuckle at those that are already here preaching that Square Enix will undoubtedly (and intentionally according to some, LOL) miss their worst case scenario completely after they just published it today.
That's a bunch of chocobo crap Indira. SE didn't even give the official forums any answers to any of our questions about alpha & to the many others reason of (why this & why that). Only thing that was up to date was the road in 1.0 rebuilding phase to servers going offline & what to expect next. Global Alpha comes along we get totally excluded in information on these forums and to where Alpha forums are considered the official response base forums when they're not.
Legacy ppl are almost guranteed to get in on phase 1? and ppl that have the square enix code have a higher chance to get into the PS3 beta? o.0 *does the happy happy joy joy dance around computer*
So nice how they giving Legacy folks access to first beta and such :) I guess though that rumor was right about the game not coming out until summer LOL
Got into Beta with Legacy!
