Too bad SE invite people that won't play the game and only applied to alpha because it's free and don't look at the legacy members.

Too bad SE invite people that won't play the game and only applied to alpha because it's free and don't look at the legacy members.
What's a Whinge? Is that? Like even a word? Am I gonna have to urban dictionary it?
Did you just use British English?
Is that allowed? I'mma report your post as offensive just incase it isnt..
Quoting myself for visibility.
And in meanwhile MY UNCLE (that played the free months), called me from saying: Oh i got the alpha invitation, now what i have to do? I have to click on the alpha forum link? How can i download the client..? Etc,
Me: Uncle, did you pay ANY month for the game?
Uncle: Are you crazy? Paying for that game? Of course not...
So even MY UNCLE is trolling me? (Along with fb friends, other forums ppl, old TS friends etc.)
Stop being SE defender force, please
Yikes peoples...
Calm yo'
It's ok... Whether you played one month or two years of playing... it's just Alpha...
SE didn't force your uncle or your friends to apply for alpha.
SE doesn't know your uncle and friends did it for the lols.
SE aren't mind-readers.
The inactive part may be a bug/glitch as I've heard of one friend who gets rejected from the application, and we have someone a few pages back who also had the same experience. I'm not defending anything of SE's - NDA may be black and white, but opinions are at least fifty shades of grey.
That's half the fun of being an uncle!
And you're like acting like a 5year old about it. This isn't some fan contest thing, its the company business of application testing. Your uncle is agreeing to play an early/buggy version of a game. If he's expecting HIGH ADVENTURE he's in for a letdown.
Get a grip!
Feedback from players who quit after the first month is more precious than feedback from players who stayed until the end.
I really don't understand the rage here.
Playing 1.0 for a long time does not make anyone a better (stress) tester for ARR. Nor does it make you somehow more entitled to do it.
No one has gotten an invite without applying to be a tester so they can't be completely unmotivated (or they wouldn't have filled an application).
Stop White Knighting SE. Just stop it.
Are you now seriously attempting to rationalize why dedicated players weren't chosen? You have all the right to be mad and demand to be taken in. Now, if you're gonna spew some nonsense about "false entitlement" I suggest you first raise your head above SE's boots.
Bad move, SE........ bad move.
please. cry. harder. it's entertaining as hell to read all this boo-hooing.
Report yourself lol.
whinge (hwnj, wnj)
intr.v. whinged, whing·ing, whing·es Chiefly British
To complain or protest, especially in an annoying or persistent manner.
[Dialectal alteration of Middle English whinsen, from Old English hwinsian.]
whinger n.
whinging·ly adv.
in your case, it's not false entitlement, it's just blatant entitlement :p SE will conduct their alpha test the way they think is best. The only thing they owe to the player base that supported them through 1.0 is to delivery a good 2.0, they don't owe you jack as far as choosing you to be an alpha tester.
This is a fking alpha test, there are FAR more players than spots open, not everyone is gonna get in period, now get over yourself.

(offtopic) I haven't heard the word 'whinge' since I left the uk (grew up there and left 5 years ago lol), so to hear (well...read) someone using brit slang makes me feel a little homesick in a good way lol. I have a hard time trying to get my American husband to understand brit slang - like whinge, Mard-arse etc lol. Thanks for the nostalgia kick! <3
I don't think anyone's said that. We all applied for alpha registration where it was specified that selection will be based on the criteria and options laid out in the application form, not by how many level 50 disciplines or how many relics you have in 1.0. We are all on equal ground for this alpha testing, so long as we satisfy the requirements laid in in the alpha registration page.
Nowhere do I see "Players who have achieved a substantial amount of progression in FINAL FANTASY XIV will be guaranteed a spot in alpha testing when global invites are distributed." Whether you dedicated to FFXIV or not has no impact on your standings for alpha testing in FFXIV: ARR.Quote:
Disclosure of Proprietary Information
As stated in the “FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Tester Agreement,” testers are prohibited from publicizing any proprietary information related to the Alpha Test on external sites. In the event that we confirm that infringement has occurred, your rights to be a tester will be revoked and your FINAL FANTASY XIV account will be suspended.
We will announce if and when Alpha Test-related details can be publicized, so please take great care in their handling until they have been made public. For feedback and discussions between testers, please use the dedicated tester forum, which will open at a later date.
Application Requirements
- Must currently have an active FINAL FANTASY XIV account
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be willing to participate actively and submit bug reports in at least one of the following languages: Japanese, English, French, German
- Must have a PC that meets the minimum system requirements of the game
Alpha Tester Selection
- Selection will be based on the answers submitted in the application. Those selected will be notified by email.
* Testers will not be selected on a first-come first-serve basis.
- Acceptance notifications will be sent to the email address registered as Email Address 1 on your Square Enix Account.
* If you have an active spam filter, please deactivate it or approve messages from the “square-enix.com” domain.
- Selections will be made in each test phase, and the number of testers will be gradually increased.
- Testers will be able to participate in testing for the duration of the Alpha Test.
- You do not need to submit multiple entries for each test phase.
WHO CARES??????
Geez, do you want a tissue or what? lol Guess what? I've been playing FFXIV for a long time as well, and I didn't get in either. Big deal, I'm a Legacy member! Pretty soon, I'll be paying $9.99 for a subscription to this game while newcomers paying the cheapest rates will pay $12.99 for, as well as a couple of other perks. You mean to tell me that, with all I'm getting, I should be whining about not getting to ecperience ARR earlier through a bugged out alpha? What's even worse is that there are LEGACY MEMBERS crying about this. Ugh...
