yes and no.
The CPU is on par to the PS3 & 360. The GPU however is stronger. The main advantage of the Wii U is the higher memory space.

People will claim the PS3's CPU is stronger, though the Cell is a royal fustercluck to program on (trust me, I've tried with a SDK). So I'd say the Wii U's CPU is on equal footing because it's much easier to program for and isn't based off of alien technology like the PS3's CPU is. :p But yeah, the Wii U passes up the 360 in every way, no doubt.
Let SE finish the PS3 version first, so they can release the PC and PS3 version at the sametime. Then let SE worry about other platforms I don't really care about.
This here is a prime example of bad judgement. What you suggested will delay the potential sales of the game. Equaling longer development time, and a broken promise just to make a port for other consoles from scratch.
I apologize for your emotional inconvenience about me not caring, but your logic, and trolling is flawed.
you don't seem to understand the post. I was mocking the original quote. I'm not actually proposing that SE cancel the PS3 version.
What I was trying to do is illustrate your selfishness for basically saying 'screw everything else, I have a PS3 so make the game for my platform first!" which is typical of every fan of a particular console.
In most cases, you would contract it out such that another team would handle porting to a new platform such that the main team can focus on continuing to develop content for the game. And in fact, SE has contracted with another company to port/develop some as yet unnamed games to the Wii U.
I understand it very well, and I did address that issue in my closing sentence.
think about it, splitting the development staff further will ultimately slow down production, so its best SE have priorities to finish sooner. In this case PC and PS3 version was first.
edit: we all know how bad that bayonetta port was from sega.
But he is right though, even though I don't give 2 shits about the PS3 either. Besides that typically if they finish one port for a console it makes it much easier to port to another, because they have at least the conceptual interface parts finished and merely have to adapt the game to the new system, hence scrapping PS3's development might delay things further for other console ports.
I'm not disputing that. There is a possibility this could happen, though certainly not until some time after the game is released and then it would be contingent on its success. There's no good reason to just shoot it down.
Not every game port is a disaster. This isn't a reason not to do it.Quote:

WOW imagine crafting/gathering on the touchscreen while watching tv or playing other less brain cell killing gameplay.
I just hope that when Sony Releases the PS4 or whatever they intend to call it that FFXIV will be playable on it so there is some longevity unlike FFXI not being playable after the PS2 due to backwards compatibility being removed.
I'm pretty sure the ps4 will more than likely be backwards compatible, I mean I don't see sony suddenly changing their Blue-ray CD thing. I just hope the game scales on it's own to better hardware. I would imagine it would do that... otherwise the dev team would have to release a ps4 version lol.
lanch day is today >< let's hope SE puts some games out for the wii u especially FFXIV
It really depends on Nintendo's online network policy. Are they open to crossplatform play? That is the question.
There was an article last month about SE bringing one of their AAA games to the Wii U. Who knows.
True, it's up to Nintendo but isn't it free to play online? If so, I don't think Nintendo would mind about it unlike how greedy Microsoft is when they said "no" to SE's cross-platform FFXIV. FFXI was very lucky and PSU is only on Xbox Live without PC and PS2 users.
i guess it would be funny to deal with the nintendo community ....but they would need to create a better console than wii to handle a beast like 2.0 will
oh no disrespect to DQ, i'm just saying the AAA title people want for a nintendo platform is Final fantasy
though i'm not too sure, it's just as powerful if not more power as a PS3Quote:
No it's a system. I got a chance to mess with it a day ago. The screen is pretty nice.
Wii U is more powerful console then PS3 and Xbox right now so FFXIV would do 10x better on wii u then it would on ps3. PS3 have memory issue and would not look that great but wii u i bet would look fucking sweet on HD and wont have much issue running ffxiv 2.0.
But when ps4/xbox720 or w/e they call the new xbox the wii u would be less power then them sadly lol that what happen when you release a console so soon. Look at Xbox have shit load of issue at release and ps3 had less issue and was working most of the time without issue. I hoping once ps4 come out the ffxiv would have port over to that and once ps3 hit is limit for ffxiv they just cancel making any new areas for it due to the limit like they did for ps2 in NA for ffxi.
i would not mind having FFXIV in Wii U more players but only if they can make a deal with them.
This is the best part, it took developers years to even fully harness the power of the PS3 so it will limit games, but not any MMO for years to come and the only way it will limit it is in ways that doesn't truly matter in the long run. "Oh lemme have my flowing cape and seeing thousands of others with it!" How does this affect gameplay? How is this a selling point to an MMO? Consoles usually limit in terms of memory management, which the PS3 has a pretty powerful memory setup even if it's a limited capacity, it's a very solid "small" amount of memory.
Having actually tested the Wii U extensively (differently from those that say that "it won't last" just because they prefer another system) I can easily say "why not?". It lacks nothing in terms of power, and launch games match performance of equivalents on other systems or even slightly outperform them, so there's absolutely no reason to exclude a potential platform (and potential sales) out of fanboyism.
It was already said they want to deliver on the promise to have a PS3 version, then they will look at other platforms, Yoshi-P knows of this request and he wants to allow as many players as possible to play but a PS3 version takes priority because it has been promised.
I think a higher priority should be the handhelds.
"Wii U: 12.8gb/s, separate eDRAM pool
360: 22.4 GB/s, eDRAM for framebuffer
PS3: 25.6 GB/s main memory BW, 22.4 GB/s graphics memory BW, no eDRAM
GTX 680: 192.2 GB/s
PCPer did a teardown. Great stuff... they actually read off the RAM chip (SMRT!). There's only 4 chips.
Samsung K4W4G1646B -> DDR3 4Gbit, 1.5V, 800/933/1066 speed bins -> I'm pretty sure that means "DDR3-1600/1866/2133" data rate.
256Mx16 would imply 16-bit I/O per DRAM... So... 17GB/s at most for main memory bandwidth. They didn't mention the rest of the numbers on the DRAM, but they ought to have high res photos later."

The eDRAM/VRAM better be very fast to compensate for the Wii U. I'm not to impressed yet.
