Exactly, even with a shiny new world to explore SE can't expect to have players doing the same two dungeons that they've been doing for the past months.

Well, what all the people with several/all 50's needs to understand is the game will have things to do across all levels of play. 2.0 isn't being made with just lvl50 in mind, that would be a bad move and wont bring in any more people. Perhaps try making a new character (especially since extra characters wont cost extra anymore) and experiance ARR from the bottom, and be patient with new content. The game was remade from the ground up with a new and better graphics engine. It is inconvenient yes, but thats just how its going to be for those who played through this 'beta'.
What they're doing is not only completing the current game, but drastically upgrading it. There will be tons to do at launch, especially if you don't have everything to 50 (I'm looking at your sig :p). We'll be able to explore the new story quests, wander the new maps, try out the new systems (especially limit breaks), hunt new achievements, and even watch revamped cutscenes! Yoshi-P is even taking measures to make sure it doesn't burn out too quickly! The introductory sequence is supposed to take 30 hours! We'll be getting expansions and gradual enhancements in the years to come, so there should be plenty to do. And if you feel you've already done everything available, then build karma by helping others catch up. If that fails, you can spend that time making money and upgrading your classes.
An MMO is never "finished". The only reason XIV appeared "unfinished" at first launch was because it was so technically broken that it lost most of its player base.
Well i agree with the op, they shoulkd release a game with almost everything ready, you have players that have everything at 50, so high level players must have lot to do, it doesnt matter if we wait 2-3 months more, we´ve waited 2 years lol, but being realistic, if you started the game from scratch theres a lot of content to do without the ones hes saying, my friends were overwhelmed by all the stuff they needed to do to catch me up, so the reviewers im sure they´ll like the game just for all the stuff that the game already has.
it never fails ppl already crying about a ream reborn and it not even out for beta yet ppl here on the threads have nothing better to do other than cry about something not out yet
I'll be really happy if Odin and Behemoth (or King Behemoth)r are in the game at launch and open world.
I'm also hoping the world is at least somewhat full of Notorious Monsters worth caring about and killing.
What I really don't want is a brand new albeit awesome looking game world with a whole lot of nothing in it but a token based Cutters Cry which at this point is verging on Hamlet in terms of how enjoyable it is.
0/1000+ for Cuirass, DIAFF.
There needs to be a suitable endgame in place for the launch of A Realm Reborn. While the storyline and dungeons will be fun for awhile, people will grow bored with the game if there is nothing to do. This is not a traditional launch of a game, this is a relaunch meaning they need suitable content for both fresh new players and existing ones. If they focus too much on either side they will lose players. I'm sure they have content in the pipeline waiting for us and just have not spoken about it yet but they definitely need to make sure they are ready to launch with content. If they don't then it's going to be 1.0 all over again.
Don't care.
The fact that this was mentiond:
Brings a smile to my face. I thought they were going to fail on delivering a PvP system at all.Quote:
about PvP … we hope to have it at launch but because of all the balancing issues and with me being a hardcore PvP-player we want to make it perfect before releasing.
Going off the PDF, it seems like there are a few (not sure if open or instanced) dungeons that are affiliated with each of the beast camps. The PDF names it as challenging, so my best guess is that these will be the endgame aspects of the game until crystal tower/labyrinth come out. Also going off the PDF, there were not labeled as post-ARR release, so there's a good chance that they may appear at release.
Lets not also forget that there is a large crowd that considers PvP as endgame in the MMO community these days. If SE does pull off PvP at launch, it will be a good plus on their side.
bad news indeed, Wada strikes again. If you launch without a major feature (PVP or take your pick) you might as well forget about it, because 95% of people interested in that feature will have moved on by the time you finally put it in.
What it means is the skeleton and structure of the client and other back end support systems are done. They are in over drive as far as porting over 1.x content finishing maps and creating new 2.x related content.
after that's mostly done they pick a group of pro-bono crash test dummies and send them into the meat grinder to break things.
Just wanted to point this out from another thread since it seems to fit well here:
"I read the game watch impress article before bed last night. A couple of highlights until Rein finishes it up:
The water shaders and indoor lighting systems aren't finished yet. A few more reflective detail shaders need to be applied and they're just working out the appropriate layers to do it right. Indoor lighting system will include a kind of ambient lightning they call "all direction lighting". Yoshida is very critical on all of the lighting being top-tier, no matter where it is.
The rivers and oceans will have separate animations but they are not high-tech wave simulations. (ie: crytek engines and so on) due to scalability. They did this in order to lower the tax on low end systems. Waterfall animation/texture and lighting is already completed.
Oh and that previous interview (can't remember who posted it) when they said something about no Crystal Tower at launch is a misinterpretation. They're aiming for launch. It's a long instanced raid with special featured (undecided as of yet) but aiming for a length of around ~3 hours.
Ishgard being destroyed is incorrect too. That's Ishgard's fortress or something rather, the actual city is fine.
One more since I've got time: Yoshida wants to place the alpha test around Gridania. He thinks it's one of the more pretty zones and has changed the most dramatically. The alpha test is specifically to test the game and not so much a player experience. He expects people to enjoy (in a free play sense) themselves from beta."
hey hey, you should link it to the original post..just to make it clear tho :)

im not crying about something that hasnt been released, i just say, if we´ve been waiting 2 years for a new game whats the problem on waiting a few more months, wouldnt be better for this game if it had those 3 things already? just it seems dumb to me releasing the same game in its final chance to shine among new MMO´s without all the stuff possible, if it fails this time thats it, might be a low population MMO that will be F2P later on because of that or just shut down.
So yeah i want to play this new game as soon as possible but if i have to wait to get the best of it then ill wait.
More info about crystal tower

When saying Crystal Tower, the image is that it takes long. From my personal memory it was really long that I left my Famicom’s power on while I went to school (laugh). How much of that will be reproduced?
Y: Yes (laugh) you couldn’t warp out and stuff. We will have some parts we put in consideration but reason why we can talk about to “Decide to warp back by wiping” is because Final Fantasy was able to continue for 25 years. And there are generation of players who don’t know that, they will say “I can’t understand why you can’t save” but to those people old fans like myself can say “No it’s different” I think for an MMO that is the good part where any age, race, players from the world can pay.
Is it like please keep in mind that it’s going to take longer than 3 hours
Y: It’s not even 3 hours (laugh) I can’t talk about the details but there are phases and when looking at it entirely it will take a long time. It won’t be the end with just one and will be a content that will be updated to go higher and higher.
Sounds like another companies title “Druaga’s Tower”
Y: Yes (laugh) With updates it will go higher and higher so with this patch will be till here, next patch will be more... image is something like that.
I see, so the Crystal Tower itself is a large scale content. When will this be released?
Y: We are planning at the launch of FFXIV 2.0 There are many players at level 50 so for them I would like this to be the first goal.
Very nice to read. The mistranslation was probably towards the fact that the higher floors won't be in game at launch. I'm all up for this, and kind of curious towards when he said, "We will first pull it off with Crystal Tower and another content I can’t talk about yet."
Though to be honest, I'm probably more excited towards the fact that SE is ahead of their schedule. Gives me a lot more confidence towards the team.
Johnny Bench called.
I can live without PvP.
PVP is pretty much just a substitute for the self-esteem boosters that we've robbed males of via the "trophy generation." A vast majority of PVP players are people seeking out a method to fill the void of masculine competition that they've been robbed of since sports have been watered down.
Don't believe it? Check the demographics. Almost entirely male and in the 18-24 range.
They may not be able to throw a spiral but they can nuke the crap out of another player.
Honestly, the fact that they remade the entire game is impressive enough as it is. I'm willing to stick around and wait for those extra few months for them to finish up the implementation of new content. The Arcanist (and maybe more classes) as well as the new world itself should be enough to entertain us for the time being.
