Request for More Character Customization Options

Due to the way the game is coded you can't just simply add a bunch of new options. Every customization slot added would cause exponentially more lag in player populated areas. We're basically at the reasonable limit already which is why you can't even use a fashion accessory along with a minion or mount. They all have to share the same slot to save space. Any new option added would have to be replacing something currently existing.

Body sliders are never happening. All gear has to be manually adjusted to body shapes. Adding an entirely new body type would be close to the same amount of effort as adding a new race. I'm fairly sure tattoos/body scars wouldn't work either because skin textures are baked into the gear and would overwrite it.

Frankly I think the customization in this game is already good enough. They just need to expand on what's already there. There's something to be said for how difficult it is to create a truly ugly character in this game. I've seen what people will choose to create when given infinite freedom and it isn't good.

I'd like to see options for Viera tails. People could still have no tail if they wanted.
Also, Miqo'te ears!
More tails and ears for everybody.. Oh, and Roegadyn tails and even furr options? Making a Galka could be cool.

i was just thinking about this subject in the shower,

it would be really cool if they added variations of preestablished hairstyles.

For example: Take the Azeyma hairstyle and change the bangs so they're aren't so anime and give it a nice fringe/bangs or something.

Theres a few base game hairs that have either a fringe or no fringe, more of that would be really neat.


Ideally, in a perfect world, id like it so hair didnt clip through everything but my guess is the game engine wouldn't be able to handle that.

I'm hoping that they can give Hrothgars the option to stand up straight.

More face options, horns/hairstyles separated from faces, ability to dye eyebrows, BODY tattoos...

This is not really true. You can scale the bones of the model and make everything scale with it. You don't need to make completely new body shapes.

Yes please. And body sliders.

Just had another idea! How about reach race has their own fighting stance for each job?

Apparently this is something Dawntrail has had a lot of background effort into fixing. The same server infrastructure upgrades that are hitting housing are also going to aid with the limited options and layers of details we can pick for our avatars, along with just the new models being better optimized all around.

I don't think we're getting some of the insane requests, as much as some would be awesome, but stuff like 2 layers of face paint, body tattoos/scars, and more options for things like tails and ears. Like, they might actually be able to unlink Auri horns and faces now. Perhaps new faces in general.

So, instead of 30 things for the server to read for each individual character, we'll have 35.

From my understanding, the issue here is, as stated by some other players, is that bones for the waist, thigh, or butt just don't exist, so it's not an option with the current models. Having a butt slider is one of the longest running requests of the creator, and Yoshi-P himself has stated as much a few times, but if the just added it, our bottoms would clip out of most pants and skirts, since the bones weren't there for gear, unlike with busts. (And even then, it's not uncommon for busts to fluctuate wildly in size with some chest gear because of how they were/weren't scaled.)

The characters do have thigh and waist bones, every model that is designed to move is rigged with these. The characters are not likely to have their butts rigged though, because the models weren't designed with butt scale in mind, so if they ever wanted to add that they would actually need to go back and add bones to support this, and then add geometry to the butt area so they aren't blocky, then they would add in the weights to all the leg models. I'm not sure if they will ever do this since it would be a huge workload, though if they did do this, the tops wouldn't need to be modelled to not clip with the butts, since they can scale the skit/cape/coat bones of the gear to move with your butt slider. Either way, I think a body slider (with limitations on how crazy you can go) to scale basic things like shoulder width, hip size, and maybe an option to make the character chubby or thin is something that's actually pretty realistic for them to add without too much of a workload.

Honestly, I would take butts just being more nicely shaped, we know it's possible, the sheer popularity of 2B's panties over any of the dozens of others skimpy bottom pieces owes itself to the fact it gives your character a much nicer rear, and while I understand that this is to make the cosplay set more accurate to how 2B looks, the boots do something similar to your legs to much less... satisfactory degree, I also frankly haven't a clue why that didn't become the standard after the Nier raids, it was clearly popular, but even recent sets still have the much flatter butt.

I agree this is what I want. I do not care for face sliders as I am hopeless at using them and become overwhelmed with too much choice.

The bodies on our characters look bad and need to be upgraded.

I would love if we got a color wheel in the character creator instead of limited color selection. A color wheel would allow for so many different color options and is a feature in other games' character creators.
