Brb, buying FFVII
You are not more entitled to see a video than "these fracking random germans". First that's really offensive, then today was medias/professionals only at Gamescom.
Does it makes sense to promote a game through medias first rather through customers that will get the game no matter what? Ask yourself the right question seriously.
SE needs to convince medias more than anything know, and certainly not these forums. We will try 2.0 no matter what, even if we had 0 information we would at least try, don't deny it. And we will most likely do whatever we can to get into alpha and beta tests.
So yeah, it makes more sense for journalists to see it first rather than current XIV fans.
The water looks too wet.
While I don't agree with anyone's tone of entitlement, I do agree with the notion that it makes sense to have these videos readily available on your own Web site.
That way when these media outlets write their reports, they can link to beautiful HD versions.
No one is entitled to anything, but having these videos available is common sense for good marketing. You're average consumer won't come back to see the trailer if it's not there in their face right away.
As a journalist, we're taught that a reader generally gives print up to 15 seconds and Web up to five seconds. After that they look for pictures or video and move on. So unless these media are writing in a way that's going to whip the uninterested into a frenzy, it's best for SE to have their bases covered.
Just be patient for that. The message saying that no video will come also says "at the moment". Which suppose that this may change in the future. We will get video in due time. SE decided that now it wasn't the time. I am sure there is a good reason behind this.
TGS is around the corner. Also FF 25th anniversary event in Japan. Who knows what will happen in these two events that will come in September.
I'm happy with what I have seen already :d I'd rather than and be happy again in one month, rather than be super happy now and having nothing to eat for a month afterward :)
My expectations are lowered to a more realistic level now. A shame the game didn't launch like this.
so stoked. thanks to the team that's making this happen.
The thing is, a lot of us have been told to "just wait" for three years.
"It's only beta, just wait till release." "It's a brand new MMO, just wait for the first few patches." "Yoshida just took over, just wait till they get comfortable." "Just wait till the non-existent Golden Patch." "I know they promised video at E3, just wait till Gamescom." "I know they said 'all summer long,' but just wait till mid August." "I know they promised gameplay at Gamescom, just wait till TGS."
Again, no one is entitled to anything, but there comes a time when consumers need to draw a line in the sand and hold a company accountable.
If a company is going to boast a "flood" then they need to start by opening the gates. Not putting a drop in a pond and hoping for the best.
Im not saying im entitled to seeing the video before everyone else, im saying its terrible marketing to show the first proper ingame footage to a crowd that has video recorders so the people that actualy currently care about the game "thats us" get to see this in second hand shoddy quality.
You have to relalise this was not supposed to be recorded AT ALL and they would have shown this video... yes I will say it again... to some random german journalists that would have only been allowed to write about the vid they saw...
The vid looks great from what I can see.... so i cant understand the logic of showing it to some room of people that should not be recording it (but obviously someone will.. and did) and not putting in on there you tube channel for us.
So now we have this crappy quality vid leaked. Sorry there marketing blows. They dont have a clue.
Anyway on a positive note im pretty excited, 2.0 looks really good. Gutted I had to see this vid like this though.
WoW has the most realistic grass. It will never be killed.
Haha, brilliant, can't believe you said that.
Ahem, no of course not. How could they possibly have a clue? I mean, who are they anyway!?
They're all dressed in clown suits in the office each day I'm sure, throwing up over each other as they're laughing so hard about how crazy it is that someone gave them a job!
It's not like they're developers, managers and directors at one of the largest global video game companies in the world is it?
...oh...wait a sec....
They know exactly what they're doing I'm sure.
(I didn't see if anyone mentioned this, but...)
In the video the character is "Square Enix", right?
The other characters are "Gamescom [Eins/Zwei/Drei]" (aka 1,2,3 en Deutsche)
So I think that someone behind the scenes was doing the Square Enix footage live as Yoshi-P was talking, following some basic "lines", and the other characters were probably players trying it out in the SE booth, where the booth reps would ask them to cooperate with the main character. That's why they'd get the video /first/, it's Live, not pre-scripted, which...personally, I appreciate more. It's truly showing off the game to anyone who can see it, and thanks to the cameraman, we got to (early).
I think that meteor thing might be the reformed battle regimen...
It looks so good! It's just making me even more excited! :o:o:oQuote:

Back to the video. In this video, there is no battle log, not saying there wont be, just saying that instead, looking like they implemented one of those scrolling 3d-text damage graphics things.
Wow...movement animations have been REALLY smoothed out. Strafing is actually possible, too. The lalafell doesn't seem like its moving in fast-forward mode compared to everyone else. Good start.
the people that point out the grass (which looks fine by the way) in all of the beauty of that footage are the same kind of people that would not date Megan Fox because of her thumbs. i mean seriously, if you're so uptight about realistic grass why don't you go outside for once and roll in it, maybe eat a handful?
this is a huge step forward for this game, deal with it.
/end rant
It looks great! Can't wait for beta~
@ work and can't sit and watch the whole thing. when does it show the limit break in the video?
Do we have a play by play translation of the video available that anyone is aware of?
In video, when he drags the item into the slot, around second 35-50, does it look a bit laggy to you?
I was trying to understand if the music when they enter in the village is new lol
I vow to play this game using an Oculus Rift every single chance I get.
Aincra- I mean... Eorzea, here I come!
In mother orzea fence jumps you!
