That is the ideal way to use it. That and just following artists. Get a few updates on upcoming/ongoing games, admire a few well done anime girls or whatever, accidentally get some new ideas for dinner, call it a day.
Used to be useful as a quick way to transfer screenshots from your PS4/Switch to PC, but can't do that anymore.

This is not actual SA (as Ibero-America). It's a just a representation of what they think is pre-columbian America, more exactly what it was the Inca Empire, and the remnants of it in some communities in Peru and Bolivia.

If they wanted to make a true representation of Latin America, they also need to knowledge the Imperialist past of all our countries, and not only as subjects of It by the USA but also as Imperialist themselves against the natives and black folks, which is sadly a It's a thing that's not talked enough. In other words the European influence that shaped our countries. Also, depending of the country they would also need to include the African Influence from the slaves that were brought by the Portuguese and Spanish to the colonies.

So to answer the original question: DT doesn't represent my culture because I'm not from the zones of Peru or Bolivia with a heavy indigenous markup, and therefor I cannot pass a judgement nor that I care to do it.

I think people here need to remember that the goal is not to recreate American culture, it's a fantasy setting with inspirations from American cultures. it doesn't have the goal to be an exhaustive representation of these cultures and their struggles. In the same way Ishgard is very French Middle-Ages, and as a French I can assure you that, by that metric, it's not done well at all. But it doesn't matter.

Lots of interesting insights on what they did represent from people from South America though, so thanks for that.

Sorry, but Europe and Asia get all the good stories because it's racist to depicts others in a state of conflict. Didn't you know the conflict between the Aztec Empire and their enemies was solved by the power of friendship?

Then why are you even part of this discussion? You do realize mesoamerican culture was based around imperialism and human sacrifice, right? My grandfather always said the Spaniards were karma for how we sacrificed the Otomi. A lot of people here believe that colonialization was a blessing.

DT isn't bad, tho. But it's an americanized perspective of everything.

Then again, fantasy world which got inspiration from here, so. Not a bother and it has been fun, even more to make fun of what they get it wrong.

The problem is that you can't make fun of it without hating trans people.

The further I get into DT, the more of a crime I think that this game doesn't offer a Spanish option.

Also, they really muddled the cultures. Alpacas and Mezcal??

Tacos and wool?

Come on... is Pisco that hard to look up?? Is it that hard to find silpancho or saltenas??

The environment is REALLY pretty...but I feel like they really didn't do the cultures justice.

Tural isn't literally mezo america. It's inspired in the real world cultures. If they said it was based on a single country you'd have a case to complain about mixing elements and traditions from multiple civilizations.
This game takes place in a fictional universe. They could have a community that celebrates the day of the dead and eats dango for all that it matters, as long as the origin of their culture explains why it's a thing.

Tural is more like an amalgamation of lore inspired in latin and some north america put in a blender. No different to how the Doman lore was inspired in a mix of asian cultural references, and Ishgard isn't literally France.
