Yeah..everyone new or old has seen the the E3 package so it's not that much of a teaser but it serves its purpose. If it had gameplay trailers or even creation trailer..then we'd be in business with teasing as that affects everyone.
Were people really expecting something brand new here? Didn't they say the site would be geared towards people who really haven't been following XIV and that would find this information new, even if we didn't?
ok... if I wasn't following ffxiv and I was interested in it and looked at the site... I would be super disappointed.
@Starlord
Oh cool overtime, like we have right now..... They could have added a TEASER trailer with the TEASER website...... I would have been fine with that.
They already said that's being saved for August due to Spoilers, if it wasn't for that they would have done it. It also has "Videos" grayed out.. which makes me feel like were getting it soon Japan Expo perhaps? will see.. but like I said 2.0 beta is where it's at =)
Technically they said they were going to release a "flood" of information but what shown on the main page really does nothing more then show how "pretty" it all looks. Any MMOer interested in the game will look at this site and go... ok so what it looks pretty but what are the features being offered and why should I care? Perhaps the site will actually be updated with text tomorrow but honestly this site doesn't do much to really draw people into coming to 2.0. If they want to draw people in they need to add a features page lol pictures only go so far.
Really? So you don't want trailers for other games? That would be spoilers. Lets call up every company and tell them we don't want trailers because they are all spoilers.
Really?
Oh lets tell them to take those screenshots down while we are at it. That's spoilers as well.
Flood= August Campaign (Gamescom)Quote:

If this teaser site is for new players not following the game, how would they even know about it? I don't see it advertised anywhere <.<
Really what's there to spoil? Moon crashinig in planet? We stopping the moon? Graphic change? new genders? new maps? who dies(I suspect people will die)?
The moon pretty much spoils the story already. So I don't see why they need to keep it hush hush. They said with the launch of the website there will be a trailer.... well the website launched and I see no trailer. "oh but it's a teaser" WHO THE HELL MAKES A TEASER WEBSITE IN THE FIRST PLACE!?! They need people to join the game, not to be like..... oh... that's cool? If they were going to put anything up at all it should have been full on. I don't mind the wait if they don't wanna do it till next month or whatever, but don't launch a site with stuff already seen. If they were worrried about spoilers give me everything at once, get me overwhelmed with stuff that I explode, get me pumped! Just like the first launch of the website back in 09 or whatever. That got me pumped, tons of info on races other things. They didn't launch it with just screenshots. They launched it with info.
If they wanted to do a teaser site just put a bit "COMMING SOON!" on the site with a really cool background that makes us wonder or a teaser trailer. Ya know thats like 10 seconds long.
Rokien being Rokien it seems ^.^. ( This is not saying your right, its me saying I don't care anymore because it's just a site.. like all the billions of Websites out there) 2.0 beta is what my aim is.. you can gloat about how this website stinks all you want.. while I
ll be excited for September's 2.0 ^^
2.0 CAN'T COME FAST ENOUGH!! :D
Please stop defending this meager website. It was pretty poor. 2.0 itself looks great, but there's no denying that this was underwhelming to anyone who tries to keep on top of XIV news. If it's for new players then it should have gameplay mechanics too. I'd actually rather them release it late and full of content tbh.
Don't expect much before 1.23.Quote:
We will continue to update the site with news, screenshots, and more from version 2.0, so keep an eye out!
Once again, a thread degraded into Rokien having no idea what he's talking about.
This site serves the purpose of presenting some aspects of 2.0. Whether it's stuff we've already seen or not is irrelevant. More can easily be added to the site as it is, and information can be added as it comes out. Now, instead of having to come here for every bit of new information, people can go directly to the site.
Also, for something such as this, a trailer CAN have spoilers. The whole hype of this is that the 7th Umbral event will be this big in-game thing that can only be experienced for a limited time. The CG trailer can show what happens at the end of this event, or even the event itself. I would rather not have that spoiled.
I have to dig up the teaser screenshots we got recently from the con a few weeks back because I did not notice that they also had that adorable male Miqo'te in battle screens until I looked at the screenshots again but this time on the teaser sight. Seems like I would have remembered seeing that the first time.
Looking at the new finalfantasyxiv.com, I think what has been removed is more conspicuous than anything else.
That site exists primarily to provide a taste of FFXIV to people who are new to the game. Up until this point, it has been filled with information on 1.0. Not anymore.
To me, that says that the XIV team thinks that 1.0's remaining lifespan is now short enough that it doesn't make sense to sell a brand new player on it. Though 1.0 still has several months left before it goes offline, the devs may feel that there isn't enough time for the average casual player to make a purchasing decision, start the game, and progress to a point where they get a lot out of the current version. The seventh umbral era storyline is one of 1.0's big selling points, but we may be approaching the stage at which slower players (and people without much time to play) might run out of time before getting to experience it.
The flow of the game, including the means by which the average player levels and experiences the main storyline, will be changing with 2.0 as well. People who have not progressed very far in 1.0 may find it preferable to start anew when 2.0 hits, as they will be able to learn the new systems and experience the new story from the ground up. Throw in the fact that there will be a period of up to one month between 1.0 and 2.0 where our original characters will be inaccessible, and it makes sense that the dev team would want to stop advertising for 1.0 a good bit before the relaunch.
They may not be ready to open the floodgates of 2.0 information just yet, but at a certain point it becomes sensible to stop stop tempting new players to 1.0 and just have them wait for 2.0's open beta. That may be why 1.0's promo site is now history.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but don't most teaser sites, for anything, provide little to no info to begin with?
I can remember looking at a few upcoming game websites at the end of last year, with just a mailing list option and some artistic front page.
It's good to see they've put it up at the very least. I'll be watching it closely as it develops.
I imagine the frustration is due to being promised a trailer at E3 only to be shot down last minute, then have a 2.0 web-page teased to find that (We mostly knew this but had hope extended) we would get SOMETHING from it when it launched.
I'm a bit peeved but I'll survive until the trailer launches and even then I doubt we will get alot of information just pretty lights. Then we will have to hold out until 2.0 or the 2.0 beta starts.
we need trailer on the site :o
Why are you swearing? :(
I don't think Yoshi fly to paris only to show old stuff..
The site is intended for new players.. Think about the big gaming events, don't you think they will advertise the site there? That's probably why the site is up now..
Mort Strife said it best but I altered it just a bit.Quote:
Cannot belive my eyes.. stop being so fucking dramatic over a fucking website Rokien for fuck sake.
They put it up so they can put up new information, not to put up with your shit Rokien .
Go out and play with a ball or something. All this whine, I cannot take...
We are all eager to see new informaiton, thats its pretty clear, but SE has decided to put it on hold.
They said its for a bussines point of view. Let them do their thing.
We would like to take this opportunity to share an update regarding Naoki Yoshida’s attendance at the 2012 Japan Expo.
The Future of FINAL FANTASY XIV
When: July 7 at 15:00 CET
Where: Video Game Stage
Im sure there will be some new information there
Teasers sites tend to at least give you some information. People who don't follow FFXIV will look at the site currently and go:
"K, so..um yeah story? Gameplay information? Class Trailers? (This is common on teaser sites) Anything other than pictures..?"
That's why it's underwhelming. I highly doubt there will be any changes prior to just 2.0 Alpha going live. So regardless of who it's geared towards, it doesn't really do much. 1.0's teaser site had a lot more information even if it was minimal, the least they could have done was linked some informative interviews if they're treating the 2.0 patch as a final chance to get the game fully off the ground.
I don't know, maybe I'm just the only one that thinks new players would want to know know what the game is about and how we're going to be playing it when you go to a website, especially since a lot of lodestone related information will be invalid come 2.0 anyway.
"Please Yoshi, I want some more."
There was a general start. Horror was depicted on every countenance.
At least its nice to see 46k like on their FB page, hopefully that will increase and reflect interest... I know we are all waiting for the videos tab to be unlocked ^_~
This makes perfect sense.
This is for all you idiots surprised and/or upset over the teaser site.
-New information around august, likely on the promo site.. arealmreborn.com
-Teaser sites usually start off small, or even with nothing.
-They launched the teaser site yesterday, because of the event yoshi will be showing off ffxiv at tomorrow.
Hopefully there will be ew information, but I wouldnt expect too much until late August. Then you have a reason to resume your mindless bitchfest.
this. Lol all my friends who played at the start of 1.0 (and havent kept up with the game) are still very confused. They are like "wtf that failure of a game from 2010 is still around?" they know nothing of the interviews or what exactly 2.0 is. Most people don't want to go hunt around online for info. :/
When my friends want me to play a new mmo they link me to the site (even if its a teaser) and it has plenty of info for me to decide to play or not. So far the majority of my friends who( don't play xiv) that I show the website to still refuse to play or give it a chance.
@OP
I think its looks good, atleast for promotional purposes.
Besides it had to be done sooner or later.
It's clean & simple, no confusion here. (Good job SE ^.^)b
Kinda dissapointed there wasnt something "New" we havent seen yet, but still ok.
