Ninja as the poster class, with new scouting and casting jobs.
I don't know - I feel Dancer could be very interesting if it were done right (and no reason to think they couldn't do that) - actually think that the 'attack on the move' aspect of the job could lend itself pretty well to a cinematic.
I'd argue that the biggest issue against this is that - sexist undertones not withstanding - players would expect this sort of thing:

Rather than Derplander in a Dancer outfit.
It'll be Summoner again. Every expansion Summoner gains something really cool. 4.0 was Bahamut, 5.0 was Phoenix, 6.0, was Ifrit, Titan and Garuda, 7.0 will be Ramuh, Leviathan and Shiva maybe? Or at least that's what everyone's asking.
Trust me you don't want to be the poster class it's always cursed, Your Job will be the weakest for all of the expansion.
Also why healer? we already had Warrior, we also just had Paladin like give Dps or tank a chance smh.
Hopefully reaper. Would look cool
It would be funny if it was a profession class. Saving the world...one craft at a time.
Do you remember where you were when the WoL saved the shard with his mighty skillet during the potato famine of the 15th Umbra Calamity?

I wonder if we'll actually get an expansion teaser at the Fanfest, and from that we'll probably be able to picture the actual poster class.
I highly bet that if it's Meracydia, I think Summoner will be a big thing. It would be a nice breath of fresh air to see the WoL actually being a caster, and Summoner even have physical elements (Ifrit's dash combo) to add some action to a trailer.
The Scions filled the caster/healer niche for a long time so there wasn't any need for the WoL to be a DoM. It's honestly hard to tell if we will finally separate ourselves from them this next expac but if we do, I would expect the WoL to be some sort of Caster.
Otherwise going down the list:
Pld: Done in EW
War: Done in ARR
Drk: Done in ShB
Gnb: Thancred's poster job
Whm: Cnj Y'shtola's poster job ARR-SB
Sch: Alphinaud's poster job ARR-ShB
Ast: Urianger's poster job
Sge: Alphinaud's poster job
Mnk: Done in SB
Drg: Done in HW
Nin: Possible although sort of covered by Yugiri
Sam: Done in SB
Rpr: Depends if Zero sticks around.
Brd: Ach in 1.0
Mch: Possible
Dnc: Possible
Blm: Y'shtola's poster job
Smn: Possible
Rdm: Alisaie's poster job
Blu: lol get out
If we get 2 new jobs next expac, I expect Krile will job change to one of them (probably new caster job) so then it'll be whatever the other job is which is very hard to guess.
Look at this list again, Mch or Smn would not be a bad choice.
Assuming they are going to go with something that portrays as masculine/physical as they have the entire time. Of the jobs left, Gunbreaker or Reaper seem likely unless they go for something new.
Nb4 they reuse a previous job and don't use a new job at all.
healers need more representation something something buzzword buzzword reeee.
But seriously, The Derplander hasn't even been a healer in any of the trailers. They deserve to be in the spotlight once in a while, and maybe that would motivate the dev team to do something about the fact that most of the fight they¨re just mashing one button.
You means healers aren't supposed to besleepingwaving from the back of formation playing the 'weak, UwUfied anime healer princess'-role while their biggah stronger tanks/melees/physicals take the front row? :p
/s
They tend to like Tanks/Melee because they can do fight scenes with them more. Not including 1.0 Archer, we've had 2.0 WAR, 3.0 DRG, 4.0 dual MNK/SAM, 5.0 DRK, 6.0 PLD.
In addition to that, we have the Scions taking up several slots:
GNB (Thancred), AST (Urianger), SGE (Alphie), BLM (Y'shtola), RDM (Alise), DRG (Estinian), PLD/WHM/BLM? (G'raha)
The Jobs that haven't been done yet, and aren't headlined by Scions already, would be WHM, SCH, NIN, RPR (debatably featured in EW via Zenos), BRD (arguably, if we don't count 1.0's ARC), MCH, DNC (though it did feature briefly in the ShB trailer), BLM, SMN. And whatever new Job(s) are added in 7.0.
.
The real thing is it depends on where we go and the theme of the expansion. If it has an Alleg/Meracydia theme, they could do SMN. SMN could actually make for some fantastic cutscene work as well if they wanted, especially considering FF16's got a similar theme going, albeit more punchy.
They've also used a brand new Job before (in the case of SAM) to headline an expansion, so that's possible, too, but RPR is less likely since it just came out and is very specific lorewise to Garlemald's secret society stuff, the story of which is PROBABLY done unless they double-down on Void/Thirteenth in 7.0. NIN is unlikely since that would most fit SB or an expansion centered on Hingashi, which while possible doesn't seem especially likely. And so unless they decide WoL needs to stand shoulder to shoulder with Thancred as a second GNB, that covers all current Tanks and Melee in the game.
WHM isn't overly likely unless they do a War of the Magi theme (in which case BLM could also feature, possibly as an antagonist like Zenos RPR or possibly as the WoL with the WHM being the antagonist), SCH is unlikely unless an expansion is themed around either Nym or around knowledge in some way, or travel to a Faerie Kingdom Shard (which is pretty unlikely since Il Mehg exists and already kind of covers that). MCH is possible if they're going for a more mature theme or a steampunk "Let's go to the FF6/7/8 world's Shard", which is possible I suppose.
Krile will probably feature as "New Caster/Healer Job X" if there is one, meaning the WoL probably won't be whatever that is, instead being "New Job Y" in the case there are two added and they want to go that route.
.
EDIT: I suppose if one wants to get REALLY technical, they could point out PLD, WHM, BLM, BRD were in the 2.0 trailer, but...considering we also got PLD in 6.0 and they were Ardbert's party rather than Derplander himself...
Definitely Reaper cause it will be a void expansion. Literally the only "reasonable" choice.
Personally I like the idea of being a farmer as the poster job, just vibing on Island Sanctuary. Free from the burden of saving Planet XYZ all the time. Not gonna happen tho. Imagine the trailer pops ups showing this scenery I described and then the WoL transforms into the new battle job in one fight scene. A new caster job is long overdue. I actually find the argument that casters are not poster job material flawed, look at the ARR mage for example who is on the games frontside. They just need a caster who feels dynamic and powerful and is potentially able to shapeshift. Could also be summoner in 7.0 with another rework.
Should either be Sholar or Summoner because books are cool.
In the trailer he (the WoL) will be a machinist working on the on the airship taking us to new lands. As the airship travels it will be attacked by 'the swarm', and insectoid race that will serve as the expansion's primary antagonist. During the attack the WoL deploy drones, shields, and other technical gadgets to protect the ship. Unfortunately, it is not enough and the ship crashes on the new continent where we will begin our journey. The situation looks grim, but the machinists unique talents and automated weapons systems make the ideal job for dealing with the threat of the swarm, who attack in enormous numbers at great speed and have hardened carapaces are resistant to more traditional weaponry.
Zero dies
WoL becomes a reaper
Zeromus is still ugly until mid through expansion where we kill it wih fire and reaper thinggys
The real Golbez awoken and get back his body and becomes a Scion
I'm kinda hoping for a ranger class - scouting gear, of course, emphasis on using traps and poison. I realize bard have bows and arrows but maybe there can be a difference in shortbow v longbow.
I think it will be a entirely new job for 7.0
though Reaper might have a chance since its a cool job.
AND if the Lifestream plays a part later.
I say let Meteor rest, and bring out Meteorite, its time for her to shine.
