I love the design of Burmecians. I think they could do something interesting with their lore since they look much more humanoid than Qiqirns.
I don't see a problem with Yuke, whatever they make I'm sure they're going to have to redo the armor to fit whatever. Lizardfolk/Dragonkin same thing. I even thought if they made robots a race (first thing that comes to mind is the robot in the original FF behind the waterfall) I'm sure they would have a basic naked frame, and possibly armor would look like parts when equipped. Whatever they decide to do I'm sure Yoshi-P can handle it.
Ya actually Viera already won in the official poll...
Is it ok if i want a race from an almost FF series game?
I only care for a new race if it is Sovani race from Last Remnant...
Other then that imma be indifferent.

I'd rather see races added as the lore provides them, honestly, starting with some significantly different tribes of the initial races, with a distinctly styled appearance from an of course similar build, such as more proportionate but more intimidating elves, leaner Roegadyn, longer-eared, more lynx- or panther- like miqote, and perhaps some esper-influenced Hyur.
Eorzea as it is seems like something of an especially amiable mix of races. I'd like to see where more segregated diversity might lead in the some of the races' more prominent homes. I also wouldn't mind these choices being locked out until your account has discovered them, and/or at least for a couple patches until they're (in the view of the Eorzean citystates) well known.
Edit: In all honesty, I'm not too fond of a Draconic (especially scaled) race, and I do feel that we otherwise have our bases already covered. As such I feel that this would be a more natural choice for diversity. As we expand far further than Eorzea alone though, then Burmencians may well be interesting indeed...
Well I would want the Ronso (Actually I wanted them for the male Miqote but whatcha going to do) and to up the incentive their /pose should be thundercat ho!
Here's one for all of you who think Viera won anything official
Tanslation: Viera didn't win anything, it was merely used as an example. More than once, Yoshi said he regretted putting their class name in the poll since he feels people responded to Viera directly.
The poll option was:
ex. = exampleQuote:
Mammalian demi-beastmen (ex. a rabbit-eared race such as the Viera from FFXII, etc.)
The emphasis being on Mammalian demi-beastmen rather than Viera, but oh well, so many people need glasses apparently. . . .
As for the topic, I'd looove being able to play the Qu <3
Also, I'd like to see a race along the lines of Seeq make an appearance in XIV playable or just NPC. I love those ugly mofos :3
Bottom line, don't really care for more humanoid races. No Ronso, Viera, Guado, Gria. . . . they're just human reskins with more ears/fangs/wings added onto them.
P.S. Can we get one fatty-fat-fat race ingame already?
And suddenly the Sahagin are a playable race.

Dont you mean the other way around? Kinda hard to believe Vivi was based off a race which was never in a game until 4 years after FFIX was released. Vivi and the Black Mages of FFIX were based off the traditional look of a Black Mage from FF1. I might play a race like that if SE created it though i think they would make a better plot twist like Garleans, Allagans or who knows using Magitek Soldiers. Magic powered machines designed to be expendable and have no will of their own. Like how the Blackmages were used with the exception of Vivi in FFIX.
Way way way back i voted for burmecians or a totally original race and i'm sticking with that though if i cant reroll my race/name when new races are implemented i cant see me giving up my Lalafell.

Yes i understand what E.X means.
With that said when someone says "a rabbit eared race such as the Viera from FFXII" I kinda somehow (and you can call me insane) get an image of the Viera in my head. If they made a rabbit eared race in FFXIV how different you think it would be from the Viera we already know?
Also it dosent matter if what poeople thought Yoshi said and what he actually ment where two different things . if they thought "Oh! Viera" and voted for that then it dosen't matter what Yoshi really ment. what matters is that the majority of the people voted for it cause they thought it was Viera = what majority of people wanted it at that time.
I dun care weather or not it is going to be the new race dude. i aint changing a thing. But it is pretty clear that if there is an official poll with 10 races and one of them is "a rabbit eared race such as the Viera from FFXII" and wins cause people voted for it cause they thought it was gonna be the already known Viera, it means it was an OFFICIAL POLL in which VIERA was voted the most thus it won... :)
read this carefully please.
ps: i read just fine with my glasses. they like made by N.A.S.A and shit look

All the races we have now are very human-like, so I'd prefer to see something a little less humanoid than what we already have, without delving into "furry" territory. I'd be cool with being able to play as one of the in-game beastmen races (goblin, Qiqirn, Amal'jaa, Kobold, Ixali) or maybe some of the FF Tactics races (Viera, Bangaa, Nu Mou, moogles). I'd figure the in-game beastmen races would probably be easier to implement. Then, you could possibly have beastmen cities where said characters could start out in (possibly something along the lines of Natalan, U'Ghamoro, and Za'harak aesthetically, but designed without aggressive mobs and more city-like), and add in some storyline elements that show more of the beastmen's perspective in the Eorzea vs. Garlemald conflict and how they learned to summon primals.
Vira "like" actually.

they should make a race that looks like a yellow rat that shoots electric bolts at its enemies and has red cheeks.
I meant the darkness - but I should have checked my dates :D
FFIX - 2000, Chronicles 2003.
Either way, they look quite similar to me in idea lol
Thank you for that though :D - I would have kept making the same statement :O :O
I -also- think this type of race could have some excellent plot twists and more personalization then usual (most characters already really know who they are).
Would love to see a race neither bestial or human. But also to would like to see a monster / other very different race..
This is way too funny. Anyway I would love to see some tall cat chicks in the game. I wish we could switch our char to a new race but I don't see that happening. I'll just have to settle for a mule I guess.
Insectoid!!!

Yoshi did say it was more beastmen like rather than humanoid. I hope that they consider insects.

Black Mage??? This little creature is clearly not any of the known races, but they appear in the parade starting the quest in Ul'dah. I would love to know more about this species/race. They have been in FF for most of the games, yet all they are called is "black mage." They are a mystery and I would love to play one.
ah lol would be something cool :)
would be a real fun race to play ^^ sadly that we got almost all main races from FFXI.. instead of total different races..
but well... all we know now that there is going to be a complete new race :) which gets me excited ^^ sadly not at ARR launch.
Yeah think they meant the Mammets

Sure, if it was an official poll to vote for actual races, as opposed to general categories like demi-human, dragon-race, robot-race etc. I agree. Otherwise it doesn't really make sense. He could have used in that poll, instead of Viera, any other human looking race and the results would be different, yet still make the poll valid in terms that the demi-human option got the most (or least) votes, depending on the appeal the race used as an example has.
What if he never mentioned Viera in the poll and mentioned Ronso tribe as the example for the mammalian beastmen, or even demi-human (not sure where they'd actually fit). I'd dare to say that people would probably respond differently to that than they do when they have in mind a half naked bunny lady. Apart from the mixed races, the Viera was the only familiar name up there that people could relate to and get an instant image in their head, without any doubts, what a bunny lady looks like and that in itself made the demi-human option more appealing since they didn't just have vague hints of what a race would look like. I have no clue what a wolfman race would actually look like in XIV (or FF in general since they're not very often encountered) but hey, drop the name Viera and I know exactly what you think.
tl;dr version: What good is it if I'm thinking one thing and they meant another. . . .
Then it's safe to say the majority didn't vote for something they didn't have such a clear association with. . . . or, the majority voted for the only exemplary race on the poll(?)
Whatever the case, people indeed had a big reaction to the race name itself, that's true. The poll was clumsily executed/worded.
Whether they make it or not eventually, I just hope they redesign Viera's freakish feet with that cringeworthy toes >_>
I don't really care, I'll find them equally uninteresting as I do Miqo'te. Half the time, if I don't pay much attention, the Hyur females, Elezen females and Miqo'te all look the same to me until I go " Oh right, giraffe necks, ears, tails". . . . Especially when fully geared in non-revealing armor or robes. In that regard the Viera would be equally "meh" to me. The main thing that would differentiate them would be the long upwards pointing ears, and longer limbs possibly, but Elezen already have a claim on longer limbs so yeah, "meh". Or, as you said, they could take the Burmecian route when designing the Viera race and make them more beastly looking.
I'd go as far as to say that XIV desperately needs a more distinctive looking race as an addition than more human rehashes. Quite frankly I'd say a race like that would be moderately popular among the playerbase, which is good. Kinda don't want another fad-race all over again (i.e. replacing Miqo'te as a fixation with another "popular" race, be it Viera or whatever). So, I'd opt for different > popular, but that's just how I personally feel. Iono /shrug
