Had you forgotten that Yoshi recommended people take breaks then come back?Quote:
That totally proves that the game is in a very healthy state and that no one is leaving at all I am sure.
Im not playing much today, Im getting ready to fight off zombies in 7 days to Die, playing Skyrim, reading, listening to Adagio for Strings in G followed by the Magic Flute....we are in a patch lull and people go off to do other things then come back. Been this way for years.
I dont see an issue here.
He played through it for a large portion of the live letter, but he got through about half the ranks and expansions because it is that quick to do. He obviously didn't get to rank 10, catch rare animals or manage workshops to generate 24,000 for the bike mount, because that would take a lot longer than the duration of the live letter, but he still did the vast majority of the daily chores we do when demonstrating it to us.
Well they are. It's an extremely popular content. I see it in PF all the time, I see people doing maps when I fly around at random spawning hunts. FCs do it together a lot as a casual thing to do in the evening.
Tells someone they're in their own world...because they
used the same logic you did...
I dont remember seeing them say the game was perfect either...
Noone here has definitive numbers so to act all high n might because your particular friend circle/fc has been fazing out isn't smart.
You are literally defending the absolutely horrible preview system we have in char selection screen on the other thread by telling people they should make a char for each voice they want to try and if they're not happy they should go on youtube, yet they also pay full price for a fantasia and dont even get any decent way of previewing either the voices or the glams, or anything else in that regard, you get 5 emotes preview and that is it, and a mediocre customization screen with shadows all over the place that dont even let you see your character properly.
Your opinion is laughable.
I didn't defend shite first off. NOWHERE did I say the system was perfect or ok. I said we have alternatives for some of that until they improve it. If you spent more time reading and less time raging n insulting people you'd know this.
My opinion is laughable...yet you respond to it. If anything is laughable its you. If you're gonna dress someone down at LEAST use facts n not your crap headcanon
In fact this is what I said in case naysayers think I'm lying.
(Don't know how to tag posts on other threads)
"You're paying for access to the servers/game. Paying a sub doesn't entitle you to anything past that. The rest is extra.
If you don't want to make the effort until they decide to change things then that's on you. Not being anti qol here, just being real"
I mean, if the game was truly hemorrhaging players, why then is there plans to add more servers?
Sure, if someone joined during the WoW exodus with other WoW players who played and decided it wasn’t for them them then yeah, you would see a lot of like minded people leaving. Doesn’t mean the entire game matches that.
You also can’t compare stats month to month as there are ups and downs in the expansion cycle. You will always see a huge boost when a new expac drops, with a steady wave of up/down til the next drop. Rather look at it in something like a 2 year block.
If you want to talk actual numbers in a 2 year block, you can get an idea looking at Steam stats. You will see September 2020 sitting at about 19k on steam. This went way up as Endwalker was nearing release in 2021 to like 31k. Now that we’re back to lull time it’s down to 26kish, but still higher than the last lull in 2020.

Reality check: he probably works more than 8 hours per day. And that he plays ocassionaly to help test something in game according to work schedules.
Do you really believe he spends hours and hours to actually enjoy and play the game? just because he shows his black mage from time to time doesnt mean that. So I dont understand this thread.
Yoshi P is not your Limsa cat girl who has the same faces playing 20 hrs a day.
i smell a troll in this topic
Righttt...when the VAST majority use the windows launcher.Quote:
Steam stats
Try again.
Shouldn't Steam stats still be good enough to indicate a trend though? Like anything, yes, they're not representative of the entire playerbase but it's incredibly unlikely that only Steam players would be quitting the game. I don't think there's a significant difference of demographic between Steam users and other PC users.
You guys were also the ones who used Metacritic to prove your point when it suited you and it's literally just 1.2k reviews on a third party website (Not even a tenth of the max number of daily concurrent users on Steam).
Plus, the decrease of players is also supported by Luckybancho, which are probably the most accurate numbers we'll ever get.
Yes, with how many people play the game on steam it is absolutely a valid sample size. IIRC 800 is roughly the point where a sample size becomes big enough to account for statistical error. At a glance on steamcharts the avg player numbers have been pretty stable at around 25k since april. March has been a low at around 17k average. I'm no expert in statistics so if those numbers are indicative of the game heavily bleeding player numbers, someone needs to explain how.
To be fair, the game is in the red more often than not compared to previous years (I took a peek at the chart for the game on Steam). You can compare January 2022-September 2022 & January 2021 - September 2021 as an example. So, that does say something. Could argue covid having an effect on things in 2021 but the lack of growth outside of patch times now is still concerning. Especially since some people act like Endwalker is God's gift to the FF community.
I wouldn't say the game is bleeding users though because the RP scene is obviously alive and well and people are still logging in to do their weekly clears/other content, but I've definitely noticed more people having issues with this expac and considering to take time off till the graphics overhaul were getting in 7.0 in the hopes that things will improve.
The sad thing is people not willing to do due diligence on what those numbers mean and just yell doom and gloom.
If they checked, they’d see years when an expac is new, numbers swell. The lull years, decrease.
People keep trying to compare 2022 to 2021 without understanding this..making such comparisons useless. A more apt comparison would be 2020 to 2022.
No hate meant to anyone, but people gotta do that due diligence.
I actually realized that so chose to look at 2019 just now. Before the pandemic was even a thing period.
Same case applies with more months in the green than red.
The same also applies for 2020. 2022 has the lowest green (positive) months in several years so far, excluding the burst of activity when Endwalker launched which I will say was pretty intense.
Also you're more than welcome to quote me and direct your viewpoint at me. C:
15 pages and no-one has even tried to talk about the Blue Mage Battle Royale PvP idea in the interview?
I know it's not coming any time soon, maybe not ever, but that sure does sound like a sweet addition to BLU content. The big blue showdown.
Would be nice to have an alternative to mob grinding for getting BLU xp too.
It seems pretty similar to shadowbringers when that launched. 3 months after expansion launch, average player count hits a low and stabilizes afterwards (EW stabilizing sooner compared to ShB). There was a massive spike in july and august last year but I think we are jumping to conclusions if we just attribute that to how good shb was. July had the 5.58 patch which brought almost nothing, most notably it was winding down the savage tier and giving the option to buy the last remaining trial mount. Many wow players came to check out the game but that is more telling of how wow was doing than how xiv was doing.
I rarely agree with the OP, and think they should strongly reconsider their game of choice, considering the amount of frustration and issue they seem to have with this game, and with such frequency.
That said, they usually at least bring up good points, but this thread isn't one of them. Having not played Island Sanctuary on their personal account doesn't mean they aren't intimately familiar with the island.
It's usually the more rude peeps that are doing the more..vocal complaining-
In the case of Endwalker speciifcally though, I think it's unfair to just count the numbers, as Shadowbringers was a fairly uneventful expansion outside of the game.
Endwalker had the usual new-expansion hype, but the launch was pretty near to the WoW harassment nonsense that caused a wave of players (and youtubers) to flood the game. We obviously also have the Corona Virus which has more people stuck at home looking for something to do. It's hardly surprising the tsunami of people declined as fast as it increased, so a better figure would have been retention percentages or yearly averages.
Unfortunately, while we don't have a lot to work with, we can see the grand total up or down between expansions is pretty good. If this is truly a downturn, we'll be able to better see that once we get numbers for the 7.0 lull.
Pretty much attack the person, not the idea going on right now. The white knightery is strong in this thread.
It's not even like it was out of context. It's a straight quote.
There's a difference between designing something and using it (any mechanic or repair tech will tell you that).
You can design a car for amazing specifications but if the ride is uncomfortable as sh!t people will complain.
You are the epitome of white knight to be entirely honest, so obviously you wouldnt see them.
You already quoted that yourself in the previous page, I dont have to do it.
You literally said that you pay for the subscription and that it's all it allows people to do with it and that they have no right to complaint about it because it's not part of the sub, then I had to correct you that the fantasia is a fully paid service and that a decent preview options should be provided as it's a paid service.
You are ready to defend this game at all cost which is very laughable, but at least you are very oblivious to it, which makes it even funnier.
You need to get off my case dude n put your hate boner away. You already tried to lie about me in this very thread. Dumb move as anyone can go to that thread n see that you're lying. Am I a white knight for simply pointing out that it's not true that Yoshi only cares about content that effects him? Or is it the classic "you don't agree with me so you're a white knight" bull? I challenge you, pull up at least 3 posts of mine where I'm apparently knighting and I'll wear that badge. Until then keep that label off my name thank you VERY much.
I see we're still lying. Quote where I said folks have no right to complain about it due to it not being part of the sub? I said iirc we aren't entitled to extras. Hell I even stated changed can be made and even admitted hair is something you have no way to check. Yet...I apparently defend the game at any cost. You constantly lie n lie n lie on my name and it's truly pathetic.
(Also nice dodge, asked you to provide proof to show the masses n you ofc don't. Probably because you don't have proof outside of your own perception)
I suppose it was too much to expect for people to connect the dots despite the glaring issues with the quote in the OP, but at this point it's hardly worth explaining. Gradually over time since Stormblood we've been forced to put up with more and more of Yoshi's whims and terrible ideas in the vein of limited jobs, limited races he never planned to follow up on, and most recently what many view as his attempt to tamper with directly with the game's storytelling in Endwalker. No wonder it felt like such a disaster on that front, Dynamis didn't exist when Ishikawa wrote Shadowbringers.
As for content and gameplay, I hardly need to go on at length about either. Take a look around. This "playground" is in ruins.
Then I simply ask. WHY continue to fund it dude? No trolls. No bs. Literally just why? If it's THAT bad. If it's THIS terrible why waste money on it dude when there's other things out there? Better ways to apply your time.
For example I have issues with Phantasy Star Online New Genesis (played the OG game for years prior to its release). I've said all I needed to say in the right places n I've since left the game til it makes the changes I'd like to see. It's a much more healthy approach compared to basically choosing to piss yourself off with a game you've disliked for years it seems.
Speaking as someone who's come from several now-dead MMOs, sometimes when you really love a game and you perceive it going in a bad direction, you'll try to communicate your grievances in the only way you can in hopes that things might turn around. You don't want to drop all the time you put into it, so quitting is your absolute last resort. I remember being in OP's shoes on the old tera forums, knowing that the devs probably weren't reading my posts, but continuing to submit feedback and criticism because I loved the game and didn't want to see it die. The community's opinion of my posts didn't matter to me, as long as someone who could change the game read my feedback (which was echoed by people I talked to in game who never bothered to make forum accounts) and considered it, because they were seriously going down a bad path that had them losing more people each patch. Anyway, nobody ever listened and the game continued to lose players and now it's dead.
IDK what OP's exact grievances are, and I'm not gonna dig through his post-history to find out, but after watching BDO slide off a cliff and tera straight up shut down, I've come to recognize red flags myself. Dumbing down gameplay to fit a broader base is usually a big one. The development team seeming increasingly out of touch with their player-base is another. Sudden lack of communication is another. When you start to see these things in any game, you should point it out imo. If you visit the dps/healer sections, there are threads for days where people complain about their job feeling dumbed down. The dev team seemingly does these things at a whim, even when the players are happy with the job (see: the anxiety over coming drg changes), showing that they're not always in touch with what the players want. And when you come to the forums to complain about it, nobody responds; there hasn't been a staff response in years. Communication comes in the form of live letters, the bulk of which aren't even officially translated.
Sadly, there aren't a lot of other MMO options. I'd bet people who cling to the game while having nothing but criticism for it are secretly hoping things change since there aren't many better options. The MMO genre is in an absolutely dreadful state at the moment. WoW is run by people who molest their employees. BDO is a cash grab. Guild Wars 2 fans are leaving in droves. PSO2 is a hentai lobby game. For the MMO fan, the suggestion that they "Just Quit!" is followed by "and play what, exactly?" WoW? BDO? Guild Wars? lmao. XIV is probably the best mmo on the market, and that is ... scary as hell if you're a fan of the MMO genre.
Not trying to speak for the op, btw. Just sharing my own experiences as someone who used to make threads like these on another game's forums.
This makes sense. It all really boils down to your viewpoint. Some have issues with the game at large, others love the current game state. Thing is we have to remember it's all opinions.
Sunk cost if very real and I'd never discount that. But I still say you need to do what's best for yourself and step away from things that upset you. In this case, xiv. OP has listed better games than xiv (to him) and some of us suggested he go play those. I do it as do many others. (Currently back to playing Mass Effect myself).
Dev communication here is definitely odd but if I'm putting myself in their shoes I wouldn't be speaking here either with how volatile things get here. Not saying it's ok not to speak at all. Just being understanding of possible reasons why they dont.
MMOs aren't in the best spot rn that's true. Speaking of which I'm now curious about the state of Lost Ark lol.
What dots precisely? The only thing present in this thread is a misguided perception of an interview. The only thing you've tried to do is use the absence of play for Island Sanctuary on the producer's personal account as a weight for your argument that design choices on the game are made on a whim, which is about the closest to mental gymnastic you can achieve.
Whether I do or do not personally agree with some design choices being made on a whim or without proper forethought is entirely different, but to try and use whether a particular piece of content has been played on their personal account as an argument for it or anything is misguided at best.
Trying to use it as being indicative of anything is laughable at best.
