He was complaining about some perceived quality slight because it's a male hairstyle. It's one that's been in game for like 7 years, that was all I was pointing out.

Perceived? The slicked back texture on his head doesn't look normal compared to the female version.
I have nothing against what they chose for male Viera (I think the ultra-feminine look is a niche that was unexplored for the game), but I don't think I've ever seen a consensus on their desired look. We had everything from actual kids to rugged half-naked hunks.
Agree with OP. The amount of boys pretending to be men have gotten too high. Its not even how soft they look, its also how young.
Auron is one of the best characters they(SquareSoft) has ever made. It is impossible to make anything remotely close to him with the game creator.
"Old" people in xiv look like raisins. They don't look experienced they look decrepit.

Please please please please please SE.
The requests have been drowned out bc they've been small threads I'm guessing
Or bc the japanese playerbase hasn't requested it, it's not a priority. They like their femboys
The SE team seems to have a hard on for stubble or faint chin hair but nothing else -
Cid Garlond in XIV is the only man to have a full beard & eyebrows. super sus
Yup and there is the problem with SE they dont have any clue at the management part what their customers wants and only good dev's made the diffrence for them.... for that reason many SE games feel like "that is cool but why the heck is there this BS??" every SE game has it and FF14 is no diffrence. In my opinion they should play more the game and watch how people play but hey this would cost money and the SE management cant afford this- "smoll indy company pls understand but pay for merch and subs and we have shop please use it, thanks" And the same shop makes spending money almost hard work, SE is paradox wants my money but does a lot of stuff to make it harder almost like a trial.
As Yoshida - san has said repeatedly, they DO play the game all the time. He said as much in an interview.Quote:

Yoshi himself tours the servers, I am told ( not sure if its true, as I wasnt there ) that he has been to Materia ( Ravana I believe ).
So yes, they do play.
You got my vote, Aveyond-Dreams, but I don't think anyone's explained this about Granblue Fantasy's Draph.
Yes, they're big burly men, and the women have a particular aspect of their body be drawn large and disproportionate. But their lore is honestly interesting. Their horns are power measures. They're stronger the larger those things are, and while it's not always applied (Threo, an Eternal, has fairly standard, even if larger-than-most horns despite wielding ridiculous amounts of power by story standards), when it's applied, it's done in interesting ways.
This guy, Mugen, is an absolute adorable manchild, and his story is tragic as all hell. But don't get him mad, or he'll literally nuke the city and its vicinity.

But he's the worst one. No other Draph is that ridiculous.
Basically Draphs are Roegadyn Au Ra with power meters.
Either you dont read, or you didnt watch the video. It isnt my opinion, Yoshi has STATED that they do play the game.Quote:
Hmmm, not sure but some of the stuff we received lately and some of the job changes and state of some jobs, says otherwise or he is tonedeaf on blizzard level. Idk but hey my opinion, your opinion. Take care.
Fact, not opinion.
I spell it out more clearly, if Yoshi is playing he is tone deaf in my opinion. Example: Healers, old content needs love, Blue Mage, Glamour, Housing, Jobs.
Yoshi is tone deaf on Blizzard Level in my opinion. And what we see is a stroll on servers, i speak about clearing Savage, playing extremes - playing the game as we do and lets be honest i man with his job (Director in 2 tripple A games) i highly doubt that he has the time. So yes most likely he is streteching the truth. Even if, i think there some things going south and Yoshida-San is ignoring them or dont know in both cases same problem as Blizzard. They dont know who their customer are and how their customer are playing. This my opinion. Take it, leave it. No hard feelings.
IF? Thats already been proven he does.Quote:

Thats your opinion, not fact and not established. The comments on jobs etc are diverse, and anyone with half a brain knows better than to try and design anything based on the cacophony of opinions and theories here alone. What you see as a problem, others wont, so whom do they listen to?Quote:

Hm?
..aaaaaaaand.........you just blew any credibility you had.Quote:
So yes most likely he is stretching the truth
I think they do, far more than you will ever realise.Quote:
They dont know who their customer are and how their customer are playing.
Ill leave it. Your opinion is yours alone, and whatever you may think notwithstanding, you havent told me what they will do with other players who disagree with your hot takes.Quote:

Game design by committee..especially anyone from THIS forum?
HARD PASS.
It’s not my thing as a character, but I do appreciate the option of having a muscular, weathered man without the typical baby face we see in FFXIV.
So, yeah, options that lie somewhere between backstreet boy and Conan the barbarian are a plus.
There is nothing of substance to be gained from discussing how people phrase things or not. It is little more than a distraction from the discussion, and unfortunately there are a handful of posters who insist on trying to call attention away from the issue at hand by bringing that up instead of staying on topic.
Regardless, players of both genders want high quality hairstyles that fulfil the fantasy of them both. Masculine hairstyles for men. Feminine hairstyles for women. Neither of these should be a big ask, and by 2022 we should've had these in abundance. Instead, we keep getting things from the hairstyle contest and in forms that aren't accurate to the detail expressed in the original artworks or hairs that are too ancient to be considered on par with the standards set out by both female and male Viera hair quality, which is notably higher than that of most races or unlockable styles.
If workload is somehow still an issue then by all means release the haircuts as genderlocked if need be and cut the work in half, because at every turn there are players who remind me about how large an undertaking this could potentially be (despite 3d modeling resources being redirected to other, more obscure projects.) As far as men go, here is more inspiration for their hairstyles:

One reason I only have one man bun is because of the limited options, I wanted both a somewhat androgynous male and a more masculine male. The options for the former were perfect and I have no complaints other then wanting more customization options in general plus unlocking face-scar-etc settings and so on. But I'm completely on board for any extra masculine options for them and other races, so long as they're still options. As long as my "j-PoP lOoKiNg JaIlBaIt" rabbit stays the same, we're golden.
On that note, I completely understand players are extremely passionate about wanting more options, so am I but the bishie-bashing and man-gatekeeping really needs to be curbed. You'll attract more flies to your cause with honey than vinegar, also Wheaton's Law applies. If you can keep your hate boners in your pants you'll likely get more interested in backing you too. Just saying.
You had me until this. Don't give squeenix that out to flee through. I personally can't stand genderlocked or class locked anything, it's a plague. A cancer on games and it needs to be treated as such. I totally get that you want your options and want them now, but again don't bend and give them that inch. As you said it shouldn't be a big ask.
I’m not entirely into hyper masculine things myself but even I have to agree that male roe and highlanders are missed opportunities for that. Male roes would probably be far more popular if they didn’t have a cartoon shaped body and bad face options. Meanwhile give male highlanders better faces and their eyebrows.
As much as I love male viera, they could’ve used a older face option. Tho I personally think not only do the male faces need older options but females need older faces too (tho that’s for some other thread discussion).
New hairstyles have been extremely disappointing on top of that.
Ok, no problem but i had my fair share of 12-14 hours days almost the whole week with a lot of responsebilities and mine are by far not on the same level as Yoshida-san and i can tell you : you will not play, you just cant. Your body and your mind needs a break after such a workload. Thats my expierence. I guess he plays some encounter here and there and thats NOT playing like a customer. In my opinion every customer plays more and diffrent content then he does. I just use reallife expiernce to say, yes he plays but not very much. How could he with this workload? Thats in my eyes just not possible but i am just a stranger on the internet with an opinion (like billion other people) so i may be wrong. And no argument of yours convinced me otherwise at this point. I am very interested why you believe he plays the game like we do ? (this not sarcasm nor an attack)
Back to topic: OP is right, please consider it SE.
He's noted that he comes in early to play and unwind before work. (I think this was on one of the media tour interviews) Maybe he's not doing savage and extreme, but he's still there. He can be a fly on the wall and see what people have to say about things firsthand and it's a much more relaxed interaction than things like the LL or browsing through social media. In my experience with these people, that counts for something.
but yeah, on topic: add whatever :) it's still a weird vibe in here.
Ayo Vel why you getting so tilted all the time? We don't yell at you virtually over a forum. ;3
You sure that ain't a child? Cuz that precious widdle boi looks on the young side. Hardly an example of peak masculinity, kek.
Ah, Auron the spiced wine of gaming. They really don't make 'em like him anymore, do they? Mothertrucker was hot asf. Spicy, sizzlin' ;3
I don't think I remember the last time we got a no-bs/no-frills hairstyle (the last one was either shadowbringers WoL or 9s').
Sadly we didn't get a new WoL hairstyle cause he seems to be the only one that brought various good looking male hairstyles (there's a reason you see so many WoL copies cause those hairstyles look DESIGNED for males first)
Something short and simple even if has to be a male only hairstyle so females can get their ponytails and long hair. We had that in the past and it worked out perfectly fine back then...
Id love more Short Hair for Females.
Not even a Masculine thing, I just like Shorter Hairstyles. Maybe even short Braids.
I guess its mostly a functional thing that ties into my ideal Warrior/Fighter designs and aesthetics
I'll put in my 2 cents and support, at the very least, Muscle Tone sliders for every race. Hyurs shouldn't get to be the only ones who get to decide if they work out or not. lol
And youd be wrong,.Quote:
I guess he plays some encounter here and there and thats NOT playing like a customer.
Except he stated he has played all of Endwalker, start to end, and he plays as we do every day.
Here's an already established thread for hairstyles and facial hair that could use more input
https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...es-Facial-Hair
Probably an extremely unpopular opinion, specially for Viera players, but I just want more hairstyles that are combed backwards or have exposed foreheads. I guess most of those are considered "masculine" for whatever reason....tho I'm just tired of bangs so I may be biased lol
More on topic: Lost Ark has my ideal "in between Roe and Highlander" male bodytype. My character's aesthetics were pretty much the only reason I played that game as long as I did
One of their latest summer skin sets:
I like Lost Ark's character models, though it's a shame there's no body hair. WoW and TESO both have male models with body hair which is nice. I wish more development teams accounted for the fact that not only do many men have body hair, they neither have it in excess or are inclined to shave it all off...
Given the alleged "10 year plan" for FFXIV it would be unthinkable for it to follow through with it without implementing either an overhaul to character creation that allows for such body types or by adding them via new races altogether. Given Yoship's stated fondness for a Lizardman type beast race, I think it's important for him to wake up and realize that adding in something as limited as that would anger more people than please them. We do not need a repetition of Hrothgar, who are already more than enough to deal with.
Of the various races they could implement instead of that particular whim, two of them include:
https://gh.cdn.sewest.net/assets/ide...jpg?quality=65
Ilsabardian Hyurs – modify the male highlander base and, just like with male Viera, come up with some sort of lore to justify their inclusion and ability to wield aether. Doesn’t need to get more complicated than that. Make the Garlean eye a toggleable option if needs be. I really don’t care at this point.
https://fftcg.cdn.sewest.net/2019-10...os-desktop.png
Aegyl – an Ivalician race whose most prominent member is Feolthanos. They could act as the FFXIV equivalent of WoW’s Dracthyr, which has an inherent flight ability adapted from Guild Wars 2’s system. Implement it as an ability or a mount and let people fly once they finish the MSQ of a zone and collect all the aether currents. No need to overthink things here.
I only hope that should they choose to ever implement new races that they use logical and efficient methods, such as reusing already existing head shapes and designing new faces for those heads rather than creating entirely new models to then have to retroactively fit over 100 hairs to each.
The current au ra male bodytype completely ruins them. Well, their little run animation too.
Lost Ark warrior male bodytype is a bit too big for my tastes, but it's definitely nice for the people who like that. I haven't played Lost Ark - aside from logging in - for months, but, I think, at least in one version of the game, they have actually adjusted the bodytype of that class. I don't know if that screenshot is after adjustments or before.
If a lizardman is off-limits, there's absolutely no chance for a winged human. The game can barely handle emotes with the fashion wings already and gearing would be a complete nightmare.
I agree they should give us more masculine options but it can be done with the current races. Add more faces, more varied hairstyles and muscle tone sliders.
I wonder how they would even do a proper lizardman. Like, that race would realistically have to be limited? What are they going to wear wigs for shared hair? With hrothgar, hair can actually make some amount of sense. In ESO, they have specific, like, feathers as hair, if I recall, for argonians.
