Who's forcing you to ERP?

how does this forum continue to fall for the same handful of zero effort trollposts almost every single time? it's almost impressive
I think the best way to "prove" the innocence is by reviewing chat logs.
if it comes to that, that is, and Law enforcement starts investigating the case, they're legally compelled to investigate every little detail. now im not sure if SE would provide full chat logs of a player.
but yeah, that's a pretty good way to prove one's innocence.
I'd say its easier to do that online, as everything is recorded, compared to irl where if you meet someone in the club and they say they're 19, but turns out they're 17, you'd find it harder to prove your innocence.
I don’t get it. I’ve read through some of the rebuttals, and I just don’t get it. Either some of you are trolling in response to what you already believe is a troll post, or you generally believe that ERP belongs in FFXIV.
No where in this entire thread have I said that ERP is inherently wrong. I have said that there is a place for it, and that place is not in a video game marketed to consumers of all ages.
Your behind closed doors argument, your let people do what makes them happy argument, and your don’t partake if you don’t like it arguments do nothing to refute what I am saying. You have two options because this topic really IS black and white:
1. You believe ERP and by definition cyber sex belongs in FFXIV
2. You believe that behavior belongs in other platforms more appropriate for their user base
Telling someone to grow up does nothing. I personally believe some of you are culprits which is why you react the way you do. I realize I’m essentially yelling at a brick wall, but hopefully one-day SE will take actual action against this. However, considering Japan produces some of the most perverted media known to the world in the form of anime, it’s unlikely.
It's not strictly an internet problem.
Most real world laws and regulations that restrict what a person is able to do were created because a minority of individuals could not be trusted to act within the bounds of common sense and self-restraint.
If they can't be trusted in real life, there's even less chance they can be trusted on the internet where there's frequently a measure of anonymity to hide behind. Thus laws and regulations start getting spread to online interactions as well. It's easier to blanket ban 100 things under a single rule than to make up 100 rules to cover each of 100 different situations.
Yet that's still an incredible ordeal to have to go through, with the possibility of job and relationships being at risk even when someone is innocent. When it comes to such accusations, many take a hardline "act now" stance to distance themselves from the accused. Bruised trust doesn't always heal completely.
Is it worth the risk just for a chance to talk dirty with a random stranger online?
Common sense would say no, but it's ultimately up to the individual.
I'm fine with people doing what they want in private. Any risk is theirs alone. But don't do it in a place where others can witness it. You don't know who's watching.
Issue is people that engage in this stuff have no idea if the person they do this with is a child or not.
In some countries prosecution could even occur. Good luck telling the police you didn't know - it won't wash.
Keeping it private doesn't protect you though. It can be private and still garner a mark towards your account, if one or the other decides to make a report on it, maybe because you weren't that good or anything dumb. Then it is in violation and your account will be flagged. The thing is even with two consenting adults, if you just met this person for the first time in an ERP club there is a risk that they can report you after the fact, and it too counts as a violation.
YoshiP didn't say "sure you're safe if it's private" rather he states if you get reported we'll plant a pretty red flag on your account with the word warning on it in bright neon, private or not. In some cases even without a report they can give you an obscenity warning. So basically he says "be careful". That to me is not a confirmation that ERP is okay or not okay. It means the responsibility falls in your lap as does your account and there's no arguing your way out of it if reported.
More and more I see is certain people not being careful, but blatantly advertising it to the public with full invitation to take part. All just because they read portions of the violation policy, and twist it to mean something they can live with. That's when it falls outside the lines of private and made public. Offering up a service to the public, (which we all know it's a paid service even if it's virtually paid) puts into question this company's long standing reputation and what something like this could do in the long run if it gets out of hand. Which it is a strong possibility if you think about.
I'm not against private ERP, or the SFW venues. I'm against clubs who purposely advertising it to the public and the advertising of hiring "courts" to preform these services or that some misguided pre-teen behind a monitor feigning their adulthood to join in what these types of clubs are offering publicly. I question where are the boundary lines when it comes to this type of thing. What's next "billboards on highways"?
I dont really care just here for the memes but voice changer is a thing also alot of teens can sound adult....

Like I said you are massively overreacting. You have the most useless approach to the problem you see. If you actually wanted to protect the children (which I always have trouble believing people like you), you would advocate for parents and schools to have proper sex ed. Kids will only be able to protect themselves from harm if they know what's going on and if they have a person to talk about what makes them uncomfortable.
Imagine the workload and the amount of moderation you'd have to put in place to purge all sexual roleplay from the game. That sounds like a money sink.
To purge ERP from this game, they must do this:
1. Stop adding lingerie to the game, there is no need for underwear and skimpy nightwear.
2. Rework 2B leggings and boots or delete them altogether.
3. Stop adding mini/micro skirts, and tight high boots.
4. Delete the Dance Pole furniture.
5. On top of all of this, Ban all Mods. Let's face the truth Mods are one of the main reasons why these people ERP.
This is obviously never going to happen because sex sells and they know that.
I believe erp belongs anywhere that adults congregate and want to do it, so yes, it does belong there. I myself do not erp, with the exception of on discord, I just find the limitations of XIV's chat system makes it a pain in the arse when I prefer longer posts for any rp situation. I just feel that banning things is stupid.
Oh wow, I haven't logged into the forums for a couple of days and said to myself "Man, where is the front page troll thread? There's usually at least one!" Here it is!
+1. You "protect" children by educating them and preparing them. That's it. Any program with chat will be used for cybersex. If a child is engaging in ERP or cybersex, that's on the parents, not for others on the internet to protect them, it's just completely unrealistic. The person that you responded to is the type of person that thinks that has never seen Footloose. Saying that something is prohibited to a child without explaining why or what it is will push the child towards it in very unhealthy ways. They don't realize how many catholic teens get pregnant because they have sex but don't have condoms because they're afraid their parents will find the condoms. Children are going to do things if they want to do them. You need to prepare and educate them and advise against it, but you can't stop them.
I mean, it's never going to go away, but there's 1 thing that the can do (and the ONLY thing they can do to mitigate ERP): Remove chat and emotes.
That's it. Where there is chat there is ERP. People will ERP in full armor, and mods are already banned, how well is that going?
1. What "lingerie" has been added to the game that you feel is a problem?
2. No worse than swimsuit briefs (and far better than string bikini briefs when it comes to skin coverage).
3. As much that I would like to see more knee/calf lengths skirts added instead of miniskirts, the miniskirts aren't a problem. Nor is any type of footwear.
4. Removing the Dance Pole furnishing doesn't accomplish anything when players are still able to do the same dancing without it.
5. Mods don't create ERPers.
You do realize that the first 3 of your points are basically blaming women for ERP, don't you? You're saying that if women didn't wear such items then ERP wouldn't happen. Were you going to bother addressing a man's responsibility for ERP or are they blameless in your eyes?
ERP in various forms has been part of human society for centuries. It's not going to suddenly disappear because you remove a couple of items from a game.
The best SE can do is set standards for how players are expected to behave when they're around other players.
Educating children about and protecting them from sexual activity might be the responsibility of parents but parents neglecting that responsibility doesn't make it right for others to expose children to sexual activity.
People need to learn to think with their brains, not their genitals. If someone has an urge that need to be addressed, please just take it to a private location.
well 17 padges am now totaly bord time to leave.
Dropping by to tell people in here to check their kids search history because odds are you're already too late on keeping them protected from sexual things.
Time to realize this isn't the 80s or 90s anymore and kids are exposed to sexual content on the regular via YouTube and other platforms.
Instead of trying to stop places from having sexual content, do your job as a parent and put up parental blocks on websites. Install a keylogger on your kids computer and check it every week or two to see what they're typing to people or in their search bar. If you're that concerned about it, take the steps needed to keep your kids away from stuff you don't want them to see.
It is not our job to babysit your kids. It is not Square's job to babysit your kids. That's YOUR job.
As all mods are already banned, your dress code and content removal pitches strike as ineffective at improving your cause to keep teens safe.
The actual threat they face are predators and listed below are ways to purge predatory behavior:
- If an adult contacts a teen in bad faith, report it to SQX in detail. If you have evidence, have at 'em... but at that person(s).
- If you witness the breaking of explicit content guidelines, report the evidence against that person(s).
- Educate teens to communicate such happenings to their guardian, as well as doing the abovementioned.
Aiming a pitchfork towards communities suffering bad public opinion does nothing to make minors safe, and everything to make your moral comfort the burden of everyone but yourself.
It does make for an active thread, however...
Correct. However, as adults, it IS our responsibility to act accordingly around random strangers on the internet, especially in a setting intended for teens/young adults. Even if said strangers are deceptive about their age, that doesn't matter much, if at all, to law enforcement. So, it is probably best to avoid engaging in various..."activities" with random people, but I know that logic doesn't always prevail since a fair amount of people don't think with their big head.
So long as your pf adverts say 18+ idgaf what you do. Full on public erp, still dont care just dont be upset if some tight wad reports you ya know? If a minor wasn't taught to stay away from these things that's not any other players fault. Can it lead to you possibly interacting with one? Ofc there's always that chance (though tbh I dont believe we have axsizable amount of the in the game do to its sub nature).
I don't believe as well that if you mistakingly did erp with a minor that you're automatically a pedo (so long as that's not the secret intent).
Think of the kids is bull and always will be. Parents get off your ass n do your jobs plz n ty!!!!
See, I'd agree but as someone who was once a teenager and had internet access, my parents wouldn't go and hunt down people that I flirted with or roleplayed with sexually. They'd put it on me to not engage with strangers on the internet and to act my age.
It's a two way street. You absolutely cannot control what people outside of your own family or household do. So, if your kid runs into someone who offers them ERP, you should educate them to say no and walk away instead of engaging.
Worry about what you can control rather than what you can't. Sexual content will exist no matter what, wherever you go on the internet that isn't an educational website made for those under the age of ten. Parents need to do their job and have conversations with their children about how to act appropriately online and how to recognize places that they shouldn't be engaging in.
All I'm saying is the game has a lot of ERP in it that won't go away. Even if its taken out of the game, people will just keep doing it through Discord. You can't stop people from wanting to be sexual online, it's just literally impossible. All you can control, as a parent, is your own kids internet habits and what they have access to.
Adults should absolutely do their due diligence in avoiding interacting with minors but parents can also limit this by educating their kids on places they shouldn't be visiting online or installing parental blocks to physically keep them away from them.
It's a two way street. Trying to babyproof the internet or video games is something that just won't happen. If you want that, set up parental controls.
ESRB doesn't rate player interactions.
Sorry.
Nope, but law enforcement does.
Wow. Seriously, just wow. You completely missed the point in the most spectacularly horrible way possible, and you clearly haven't read my feelings on ERP earlier in this thread besides. I never once mentioned 18+ ads either. If you had done even a sliver of prior reading, you would know what I was talking about.
Seems like a stretch in order to simply dismiss the topic. Idk, I brought this up to see where the community stood, and I got my answer. Some support the idea of it not belonging in the game, and some exposed themselves as the degenerates they are with the weakest of rebuttals. Either way, I’ve realized I brought this to the wrong forum.
