Just want to add on that it's not just EU servers. I'm on Gilgamesh, which is NA, and I'm getting the 2002 errors too. I don't think I'm the only one, either.

I don't know what this is supposed to mean, or add, and I don't think its fair to tell people they can't be upset. They delayed the game because it wasn't finished on relatively short notice when people took off of work. That's fair. Now that people probably can't get off, they can't manage to log in before having to go back to sleep so they have to go back to work. There is plenty of valid reason to be upset, especially given how foreseeable this was. You don't actually know that there was nothing they could do, you only know that they failed to solve the problem.
Getting angry isn't exactly productive, but making excuses for them isn't either. It is a problem that needs solving, not apathy.
And now it's constant 2002 Lobby errors. Can't even get into the queue at all. Six times in a row now.
I have no problem with the long ques, it’s the multiple 2002 errors when i am in triple digits ets or less after waiting through a long 6000+ que that is getting really frustrating.
I've been trying to log into Siren for just over 4 hrs. First time I started I was at 1800+ and got to #1 in queue then got kicked out with a 4004 error. Second time started at 2800+ then was 2002'd at 1400-ish. Third time I couldn't even queue at all and kept getting kicked out of the launcher for almost an hour. Last time I tried was at 2790 to start, and was 2002'd at 1372. Think I'll give up for now... :(
I've been through my share of MMO/expansion launches so I understand the rush for new and returning players. I LOVE the fact FF has this issue. Just frustrating that I haven't been able to play yet myself.
Good luck everyone. I'll eventually see you in Eorzia.
Worse than ShB but better than SB and HW. Not as bad as I was expecting at any rate.
It is a good problem to have, I agree, but not one to keep. I genuinely want the people who are giving the game a shot to enjoy it rather than deal with this and come to the conclusion it isn't worth it. That isn't fair to the devs either. Nor are the people who come to that conclusion not worth keeping or undeserving of enjoying the game. Plenty of hard-working and busy people want to play and don't have the time to deal with this noise. They pay their subscriptions and bought the game, their concerns should be considered with weight.
And remember these problems are with removing the free trial people. Hopefully the system is designed well enough that free trial people aren't even in the lobby considering the volume.
The problem isn't 2k ques. Everyone would just laugh at some one who said "oh no que". The que isn't stable and you can sit in que for 30 mins and go from 2k to 5k.
I thought it would be 10k queues but it was 2k ok but not good.
Precisely. If the only problem was massive queues that folk have to wait in to get ingame, that is something that is to be expected. The real problem is that folk might wait in a queue, but actually see the number of people ahead of them go up, or, alternatively, spend an hour or two slowly moving up the queue, just to get booted out with an error message, then be put back at the end of the queue when they log back in.
2 hours waiting an then 2002 error and starting queue again. Why?!!!!
To an extent, even a ridiculously long queue time cannot be prepared for. If it takes hours to move through a queue of 3000 people, that is all the time some people even have. Throw a mildly unstable internet connection into the mix, and that's it. You don't get to play. I would prefer to believe something could be done. I don't want to see people miss out on stuff like this, times are hard enough. Even for the people who are logged in. "I want to take a small break but I don't want to log out" isn't something I want to see people saying, but I am seeing it.
Part of the issue with ques is not only the number of people "Trying" to log in, but also people trying to visit other servers, which "Should" have been disabled for Early Access, but SE didn't think of that so servers that are normally not congested are being hit with people that aren't even from those servers.
At least Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have to worry about being the worst videogame launch anymore.
I'm glad Yoshi-P delayed the launch by two weeks to improve the quality. Much improved. Such quality.
Neither heavensward nor stormblood had these issues. Hell, for that matter, Burning Crusade didn't either. So to anyone saying this is par for the course. It isn't.
Even in favor of giving the anecdotes the benefit of the doubt, I would prefer that they were considered learning experiences by the people who need to feel that way; rather than seeing this nonsense as "good enough."
I'm sure the quality of the game itself is great, I haven't gotten to experience it yet because I've been running around collecting the classes and doing a few other things; waiting for my girlfriend to get in so we can level and play together. I imagine more than anything else, this is a hardware problem. A failure on someone whosoever is directly in charge of making the decisions that procuring the necessary hardware to prevent this situation "wasn't worth it", whether it was by paying a premium for it or renting it. In those cases, it is not my decision to make, and I understand that; but also in those cases, it is my criticism to give, and it's valid. I respect the people who created the game but not the people who decided it was okay to force us all to deal with this and turn the player base on each other for not wanting to log out for a 20-30 minute break in order to deal with hour(s) long queues.
whats the quick launcher?
Yeah big queues are expected and anyone who wasn't expecting them was a fool. However I will agree the 2002 errors aren't really acceptable. Especially because it can be hours of queue time where you need to methodically baby sit the game to try to beat the grace period to log back in should you get the error and in some cases that doesn't even work. I got home around 3pm and Balmung had a 3200 queue. Fine. I'll feed the cats, make dinner etc while I wait. But at 1600 (and 40-50 mins later) or so I noticed a 2002 just by chance as I passed and quickly logged back in. In this case the placeholder system worked and I was back in around the same spot I was at. Then at 800, another 2002. Only this time when I tried to log back in I started getting it when I hit 'start' and so far I've been unable to even make it to the character screen again even after waiting a bit. So...that's frustrating. There are expected and unexpected problems that come with a popular game in a big expansion launch and we have a bit of both here.
Final Fantasy has been around long enough and made enough money to not have these problems. They should be able to support sooooooo many more players w/o disconnecting people and limiting logins. I havent played since FFXI and I'm so disappointed in this prelaunch. WoW never has these problems any more!
I'm appalled at all the entitlement on this forum!
SquareEnix is a Poor Disadvantaged Multi-Billion Dollar Company with a Highly Successful Profitable FFXIV MMO Franchise, they can't just Procure more Servers and Make things better for subscribers. That's expens- because Covid-19, Semiconductor Shortage, <Insert Convenient Excuses>
My work came into shit loads of money thanks to all the covid relief, no just throwing money at it does not make it just magically get stuff, and we are still constrained by internal timelines. We just like Square are not the only ones trying to purchase items that use super conductors.
You got source on that because my company is unable to get them in on time.
Yeah and according to the Nvidia CEO, probably the more profitable company that uses these chips more often, it will indeed be a shortage well into 2022.

I was so incredibly excited to play today and I did get 3 hours in but I mistakenly logged off and now i'm in a endless 4000+ q that never ends and I get error code 2002. I love Square Enix and all their hardwork on making Endwalker the best expansion ever but I just wanted to vent that I think they should fix this issue and take the game down if that is what it takes. Many players such as myself already lost a whole day of early access.
I'm going through the same thing. But i haven't even logged in since the maintenance. Finally have some time to see EW for the first time and cannot get past the queue of 4,000 people. ERROR 2002 every time....
My hubby got in this morning played for 4 hours. 96 people when he tried.
Anyone with common sense knew this was coming in advance especially given how populated the game has been as well as the shortage of semi-conductors which means no new servers. The only people who are throwing a temper tantrum over this are clearly new to MMO expansion launches.
It was bad in the morning, then ok this afternoon (had a queue of like 34), now this evening it's worse than it's been all day. Multiple 2002 errors, 4000 queue waits on the smallest worlds. And the worst is getting to 1 in the queue after an hour plus wait and getting a 4004 error booting you from the game, then being forced to the back of the queue for another hour plus wait. Someone who's waited that long should not get an error message. That's not congestion. That's just bad code. Queue time in understandable. 2002 errors when trying to log into the data center is understandable. Being boot from the queue when you've been waiting and being forced to go to the back of line isn't.
Most people expected queue times. Queue times are not the problem, which is obvious if you take even 10 seconds to read the complaints. The problem is getting booted from the queue and being put at the end of the line of several hundred, or several thousand, just to get booted again after waiting an hour and end up at the back of the line again.
I've been lucky so far ::knocks on wood:: I've gotten the 2002 dc while in queue and every time, I've gotten back into the queue at the same spot. The worst for me has been waiting in queue for an hour (even with the disconnects a couple of times) but finally getting in the game, was in maybe half an hour, and got dc'd. So now back to a 4k (well 3k now) queue and had one 2002 dc but got my spot back. I'm on PC, so it's not the luck of the PS.
I got in just fine, aside from a handful of 2002 errors which were expected, and I don't use third party addons lmao
yes indeed. thank you. :)
i had a queue of 1155... and played for 6 hours before i logged off again. there were a LOT of people around who also enjoyed it. i got the 2002 once before i even entered. the second try worked. thanks for this actual smooth start for most people
