This! This is a very nice upside to this turn of events. :o
To be fair, most of us have to work at least 8 hours a day, with probably another around 1-1.5h being devoted to getting ready and commuting, and another 8 being dedicated solely to sleeping. Add in things like chores and cooking and you basically end up with little free time relative to the hours you have to work/sleep on any given weekday
It would be nice to be able to sit down and enjoy your hobby uninterrupted for a few days between having to slave your life away
Well I think it said the next version update for Dragon Quest X was supposed to launch on Nov 11... But pretty much all my western friends won't play it because they cannot read japanese. And a couple that got the free version on Nintendo switch using a japanese nintendo account said they can't buy the full version because they don't have a payment method issued in Japan.

That's funny because you didn't unlock your first achievement until July of this year.
I totally understand everyone's concerns regarding this delay. It totally sucks that the delay is happening and at a time of year when for most people getting time off (PTO, etc) is nearly impossible. I feel no one should be expressing disdain, etc. regarding how people choose to use their PTO. It's their PTO and if they want to use it to play video games more power to them.
As to the development team, again I totally understand their concerns and why they felt they needed to delay the launch of the game for 2 weeks. You want to do some last minute housekeeping, you want to make sure the game is amazing for your players and I totally love this care for your players.
However, I am very disappointed, if not upset that you market items on the mogstation knowing that the lunch would be delayed. Yes the 50% off sale. If you knew the game was going to be delayed you should have let the players know this at the time it was 100% certain. Before you setup a marketing scheme to play on people that needed that last little push to complete jobs to 80, I am one of these people.
If I had known I would have 2 extra weeks to grind out my last 2 jobs, I probably would not have purchased the tales of adventure given that I had the full picture of the status of the new release. But in my eyes FFXIV pulled a marketing ploy directly from Blizzard's game-book, actually Wizards of the Coast might be a better comparison. Where you knew the game would be delayed, but yet you still marketed to your players in a way that gave the impression that the expansion wasn't delayed. Then you waited a full week to release this information, allowing more players the chance to feel pressured to buy something they might not have needed due to time constraints.
Very disappointed in the game but more so I'm kicking myself that I fell for your marketing ploy to "Jump Start my adventures" in time for endwalker. Just not letting us know there would be a 2 week delay.
Touche! This type of sickness must be PURGED!
lmao i should use that on my professors when they ask for my assignments. be like "stop being upset that i didn't submit it on time. it sucks that it might screw up your plans. BUT THAT'S ON YOU. Not me. Take a step back and put yourself in my shoes for once. Guaranteed you would see things very differently" haha
but for real, you don't get to tell ppl how to feel. and its 100% on SE. that's why yoshida is so upset. he knows he let ppl down.
as a university student, the delay doesn't affect me, but it does mean my gf likely won't be able to get time off for launch now. its gonna be lonely at server up.
I don't get the logic of lashing out at people who don't share your opinion. /shrug
I get people are upset and want to voice it, but I get tired of people acting like this is something se would just do on a whim without a really REALLY good reason. It sucks, your work may make changing pto hard (some do that), but acting like the developers did this without a thought, care, or on a whim and it wasn't a very serious decision to make is just silly.
It is enlightening reading through this thread with people who are calling people, who are disappointed in having their time off being out of shift with EWs release, entitled and "having first world problems". A lot of people, like myself, can only devote a handful of hours to this game a week with how much we work. For a lot of us, this wasn't PTO but time earned from overtime (that I'm probably not getting back-pay for, but that's a personal fight).
Being understanding about the scheduling push-back and being upset that you won't get those hours back are feelings that can and should coexist.
I work full time and am back in school full time, and have to rent out of someone elses house because I can't afford one where I currently live. Still have to do chores, cook, etc. I'm disappointed but I'm not out here saying this is the last straw, game is dying, etc, like it feels like people do on here anytime anything slightly negative happens.
An assignment, and a MMO are 2 different things my friend. And Assignment has a clear end. The steps to complete said homework are going to the be same. The only thing that could possibly change that is you. Game development you can work on something and new bugs appear. Good luck.
And I don't care how you feel. LMAO. I'm telling people their are good reasons for this. You want to know the shame they'd feel if they released a broken game? Consider the options. :)
Terrible comeback tho :)
Let's see...Yoshi deciding the expansion isn't up to standard and delaying it two weeks to get it as stable as possible...
OR
End up with a potential CyberPunk situation where key components are working as intended, and causing lots of problems for players(not likely to be as bad as what Cyber had, but if the stability of the game is in question, a huge amount of players would be impacted by not being able to actually do anything...)
I'll take a delay thank you.
If they were behind. And this didn't happen over night, why wait till after investor revue and after pushing new mog sales for the expansion. Also why is it any other company is a company that doesn't deliver, but SE gets the think of the employees?
Is it a stability issue? Is that the delay or did he admit they took too much time on lore and couldn't make it to QA. A transcript needs to be released. I feel like people didn't hear what caused them to reach this point. Also we got stormblood, they aren't that meticulous about what they release.
Stop for just a moment and think about this. Do you honestly think that this is the type of news that Yoshi wanted to announce?
There are certainly regular meeting all during those months, during each one people plan and provide estimates and it goes up the chain to the producer. Each time he gets news saying that they're on schedule, but each time they're always risks that could delay the schedule. They try to plan to reduce the risks, but sometimes, they can't , and stuff happens.
They announced a schedule, it will be late, and they informed everyone in advance. OK, they provided a 2 week warning but they may honestly have found it only a week ago, may even a bit more before that and it could have taken that long to get a new schedule approved.
I took off 2 weeks for launch and it is WAY too late for me to cancel it. It took a lot of work to get coverage for me.
The delay itself is whatever but I'm really disappointed they didn't have the courtesy to announce the delay sooner, they obviously knew about it. Yoshida himself made it a point to apologize to people who took off. If you gave me adequate notice I wouldn't be so pissed.
"Sorry guys we can't do another Ultimate this expansion because then we'd have to delay Endwalker"
"Ooops we gotta delay Endwalker anyway"
Well thanks for nothing I guess.
