Over-priced Microtransactions!!! PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

I absolutely feel like just about everything in the cash shop is overpriced, so I'll never buy anything from there. I would like to see the current price model fail and be replaced by a better one. The only way to have that happen is to not support the shop.

doesn't really make sense. The items on the mogstation don't come from no where. They have to be created by SE. If they need to work to provide us with something it's fair for them to expect payment. Why single outfits or mounts cost half as much as a full game is a total mystery, but there's no reason to expect the devs to give out anything new that they create for free.

Square Enix is killing it right now. I'm such a sucker for good games and always buy overpriced vanity items in support of good games. It's only overpriced if you're one who has grown accustomed to the stage four rectal cancer that is mobile games, a cancer that is aggressively spreading to console and pc platforms. Cheap games have cheap shops...

To say something needs fixing implies that it is broken and I can assure you, it is far from broken.

The Cash Shop seems to be doing fine. Overpriced? I don't know. It depends on how much money you have and how much you are willing to spend.

Should it all be free? No. If SE can make money by selling Vanity items then they have every right to do so.

So after a moments thought, I have come to the conclusion that the best way for SE to notice threads to type in big bold capital letters "FIX THIS NOW!"

Afterall, nothing screams that there is an issue like over the top thread titles.

Dear SE, I live in country with 300$ monthly payment which is at least 5-6x times less than in EU or NA, so every item in Mog and actually even subscription are very expensive for me and other players from here, please fix it. /not joke about salaries sadly/

Speaking seriously though , I agree that some items in Mog are probably overpriced. Hovewer, they are optional and do not affect your gameplay, so... /shrugs/ They do sales from time to time, you can always wait for it.

I think the mounts, emotes, fantasias, etc are all fairly priced.

However, I think they need to either reconsider the glamour and housing/old event item prices or sell them in bulk/a collection. $5 for a wind chime that looks like a vendor item? $5 for a single poster?

If they added Rainmaker (the hairstyle) to the mogstation, I would have to disagree about none being essential. But that's just because I'm shallow and that hairstyle is soooooo sexy.

If this were a F2P MMO, you can more or less double every price on the mogstation. Look no further than Black Desert. Their outfits are 30-40$. And unlike FFXIV, Kakao Games purposes does not release new outfits beyond generic stuff to incentive purchases. So imagine all the generic 1-50 gear being all we have unless you shell out 30$ for a single outfit. Now you have a F2P MMO.

Well, comparing to worse is still no justification for a company being greedy. Like I said before, it's a question of point of view, but the actual system just make no sense to me. If it were a f2p, I would be OK with a cash shop and optionnal item, but it's not. I'd prefer them to increase a bit the subscription fees, or release less optional items and put them available to everyone, instead of putting them available only for people who can afford them.

Any hard content become easy at some point when they are past raids, and I would be 100% for that. And it's also better showoff, if they are hard to get you can show the glamour telling "Hey I had skills to get it" instead of "Hey, I have more money to spend".

Also another things on optional/promotions items, SE seems to forget that North America is far from being USA only (USA is after all just 33% of the lands of North America), but their promotion for the NA server was made for the US Amazon. Yes, you still can buy on amazon.com instead of .ca, but it's not every sellers that will ship to Canada. In Europe, they make it for multiple country since there is lots of country there.

I mean the easy fix is to not buy any. But you don't have the willpower for that, we all know it.

Ranked PvP rewards would like a word... aswell as the hunt-achievement-tiger, the rewards that are locked behind PvP-achievments or the mentor-roulette-mount. A lot of content actually doesnt become easier with time, in some cases it becomes even more difficult because people arent intrested in it anymore so they stop running it alltogether (Diadem, anyone?) - and rewards for ranked feast are even more limited and locked behind limited time and limited amount.

Wait for a sale.

This isn't unique to FFXIV or MMO as a whole. Every single game nowadays has some form of micro-transactions. Our subscription fee covers being allowed access to the continuous updates FFXIV undergoes. If this were a F2P game, you simply wouldn't see the raids, trials and 24 mans provided. Furthermore, if you were to increase the fees, you've now forced everyone to pay more for stuff they may not care about. Plenty of people couldn't give a damn about Sleipnir or one of five Chinese dresses. While it would be nice if they made less, especially given how many items they seemed to throw on the Mogstation this expansion. It likely won't happen since it's very profitable.

Funny thing is, they wouldn't necessarily lock them behind hard content. Just tedious stuff they know people wouldn't do. Want the Carbuncle mount? Run MSQ Roulette 1,000 times.

Not Ultimate. Coming 5.0, UCoB and UwU are still going to be synced to level 70 and item level synced (i345 for UCoB, i375 for UwU). There’s also been no indicator that BA will be easier to do come 5.0—we don’t know what they’re planning to do with it or Eureka yet: if they’ll allow some sort of unsync in there, or if it will stay the same.

All this being said, people would complain from here to Sunday if they locked entire outfits like those you find on the cash shop behind content like Ultimate. Let’s be real here: they’re never going to do that.

$24 for a mount that you will buy once but it will be available to all of your characters should you make an alt for whatever reason. Yep...totally a rip off being able to always have an account wide optional mount available to you whenever you need it.

For real though in terms of items from the cash shop, FFXIV prices are decent, especially when compared to WoW. If you can't afford a $24 optional mount then that sucks but its not going to be the end of the world.

FFXIV Mostly free w/ the Aesthetician, otherwise $10 (Fantasia)
WoW - $15 (can't change race, only your sex and your racial features not available by the barber)
ESO - $10 (I don't know if ESO has a barber or aesthetician type npc)

If you really want to go talk about getting ripped off and over priced microtransactions, go play any game that has either loot boxes or is a free to play game lol. FFXIV is fairly cheap in comparison and it's all optional.

The fact that it's the same price as a full game is why I'll never buy mounts. I understand that most of them are "account-wide" but I think having more than 2 characters is kind of the minority (i.e. the account wide feature is not very valuable). That being said, I know that it's also expensive to design and model additional features, like mounts... but I personally just can't afford them. I don't know their sales, but I kind of think that they would be able to make more money in the long run if they made their items cheaper. If people see they're in an "affordable price range," the more likely they're going to buy them.The more mounts or emotes or whatever they sell, the more able they are to pay the artists/programmers. The profit margin is probably too high, but I honestly wouldn't know. It's not my field. If the mounts were between $10 & $15 (something like that), I would definitely snap all of them up along the way for myself and even for my friends on special occasions.

That being said, I do buy the dances and rarely minions for myself and for friends when on sale. Usually for something special like a birthday present. A minion or a dance costs about as much as a decent card with a little something extra so I like them for things like that. So, the price of minions and dances/emotes usually don't bother me. If they're in the more expensive range, I just gloss over them.

Even a better deal on FFXIV than just the surface price. FF is for all characters on that server, so if you have 5 characters on that server it is still $18, on WoW it would be $25*5=$125.

Yep. You have to pay for each character individually.

I felt like I needed Cloud's bike more than life itself, but no extra moolah, so I went without. Its absence left a gaping hole in my life, but them's the breaks.

A friend recently gifted it to me, and that only increased its value in my eyes.

The price tag on the Mogstation, in hindsight, seems low.

ESO's minions (and mounts) are all account-wide.
But most of their mounts are not on the cash-shop, they are locked behind loot boxes with the so called "apex mounts" having a drop chance of around 0.05%.

About the price of mog station items, it's even more pricey for me because of weaker currency of my country (compared with usd). So, a single Phial of Fantasia (for example) can cost me as good as 40 bucks (plus taxes), which is enough to buy more than 4 big mac sandwiches. Far Eastern Schoolboy's Attire is 72 bucks for me, which is enough to buy almost 10 big mac sandwiches.

So... No mogstation items for me.

These loot boxes are also limited, and rotate often. You don't want to miss out on this seasons loot box specific mounts do you? Don't forget about the 40-50 dollar limited mount that's on sale for 3 days only either OR the 100 dollar house! Yes, ESO has limited time houses too!
