Does anyone else think they should age up the fem miqote/au ra character models?

They need to age up the forum so we don't get silly threads like this one.

I don't think they should age up all au ra or miqo but I would like an older face option in the list.

I love seeing the differences in opinions on this forum vs how most people feel about smaller male viera. All the people who wanted small male viera were "creepy and gross" but I guess its okay to do the reverse.

I personal believe all the races look fine and let people do what they want. If they are being creeps; they will be banned at some point, otherwise people just want cute small characters. There are smaller and younger looking adults that would like to have a option represent themselves, I looked younger well into 22. I never thought Au Ra girls looked like children because that's not where my mind went.

If you can show me where everyone posting in this thread said small/delicate males were creepy, you may have a point, but I recall only one rather vocal poster really sticking with the "creepy" descriptor. There may have been a handful others who described it in a less-than-kind way, but I think you may know who that one person that I'm referring to is.

Some of the comments were so hostile and malicious, they were removed by the mods, so it's not like you can go back and see them all.
Even if we're not talking about the hummingway esque viera or even the alphinaud model, people were still vitriolic to those who just wanted slim viera.
I don't expect you or most of the people in this thread to be aware of all these posts, but I was sort of in the middle of it all, and I can tell you for certain of the hypocrisy I've seen.

You know what? I actually wished we could play the child versions of our races - yes im a perv call the FBI pls, lol *sarcasm*

Its rly silly to push your own confort this hard to wish wo something this drastic... like i hate roes, buff men look ugly and i feel uneasy if they are almost naked, so please force em to wear robes 24/7 xD


Just let ppl enjoy what they like, this is after all a place to flee from the real world and its BS as well... dont have to drag this here too...

The people that are "unsettled" by it are in the male Viera support thread not on here. Yes, one person has been the most vocal but there have been a few that agree with them. Its just so silly.

The reason some people call the "small veira" faction creepy is because of the character that those people use as the "prototype small Veira analog" which is Alphinaud. you know, the 15-16 year old Elezen child scion? Yes him. Tell me that's not remotely creepy.

there were many different interpretations of what they could/should look like. Some people didnt like, some they did. Some did want prepubescent, and some wanted adolescent, and some thought that wouldnt be a good idea. People are not uniform in their opinions, or their desires.

So what about all the dudes playing as Female Blood Elves, Night Elves, Dranei and Humans on WoW? Would you have a problem with them as well?

Assuming this isn't the potential bait that it is and it's someone projecting their insecurities instead: I have no idea what you're talking about. Au Ra and Miqo'te women have face models that represent a potential age range from late teens to late thirties, further amended by which face parts you apply.

We're also ignoring that tons of baby-faced individuals exist in real-life, and that human beings continue to evolve to be more neotenous with each generation. I myself am 31 and still look like a teen girl. So does Amanda Seyfried (33), Isabel Lucas (34), Taylor Swift (30 in Dec.), Ariana Grande (25), Selena Gomez (26), Abbey Lee Kershaw (31), Sofia Boutella (37), Cara Delevigne (26), Shailene Woodley (27), Reese Witherspoon (43), Brie Larson (29), Priyanka Chopra (36), and tons of other famous women you can Google at any given time. Those were just pulled from a quick skim through my Insta follows.

While we're at it let's just require everyone to be a Raegadyn so they all look and act like big bulky eastern european folks because... I have no idea WT-heck the issue is here...

When I lived in Korea for half a decade, I got used to women as far as in their 30s giving me emotes akin to things that I would say inspired the Miqote and Au'ra... I could go South to Latin America and get the same routine. Probably also get versions of it in Italy or Spain but I'm not certain there...

Flip on some Korean or Japanese talk shows or Telemundo some time and note that... NOT EVERYONE IS AMERICAN OR BRITISH...

So mostly... I'm just looking at the OP and seeing cultural bias.

I don't think all our characters need to have the British Stiff Upper Lip as their entire range of emotes.

The OP also plays a human with late teenage facial feature avatar.

Again you missed the point and jumped into assumptions people spoke against teenage male viera cause the lore state that they multiply and they should be adult looking as the female viera based on Fran design, and yes is a creepy behavior to insult and pull the same sexist, racist cards over and over again to force the company do the male viera in your way not respecting the game design concept.

Miqo-te and Au Ra were implemented and there was no behavior such as aggressive based on insults towards the company staff or other players with different opinion on their appearance.

So quit excusing the creepy behavior towards those who want more adult facial features with tribal references for male Viera, am one who is praying for a more adult model for Viera to match the females.

The same doesn't happen with Miqo-te both gender are similar so similar that have no way to distinguish gender when both dress the same dress, Au Ra apart of the height they are similar too so similar the only way have distinguish is their height difference.

The fem au ra emotes really need some work too. They act like little girls. When you pair one of them up with other characters that are like twice their height... it just looks wrong. Makes me concerned for the younger people who are playing this game and seeing young girls sexualized like that. That might be normal in Japan, but the rest of the world isn't as cool with it.


Or at the very least, change how the skimpy gear shows on them. Like make more modest variations. They did that with Lin in Xenoblade X.

It sounds like you're projecting and there are qualities that the characters have that are normal in a lot of contexts. They have vaguely realistic proportions, all anime style characters look young for way too long and the nature of the emotes are pretty wide. You're wanting there to be a problem where there isn't one. These are stylistic choices and verisimilitude does not matter in fantasy settings.

Personally I like the concept of young--teenage heros, it strikes me as being heroic seeing someone young doing the impossible for the sake of the world, I play lalafel for much the same reason

Honestly I would be entirely opposed to having "older facial features" forced on my character, the characters already all look to be in their early to mid 20's to me, with some options for female au'ra putting them in perhaps the late teen category, still older and taller than any of the other teen characters

I am having difficulty telling if I should take this topic seriously or not, but for the sake of argument I will do so, were they to add /options/ to make a character appear older that would be fine, but I'd be the first to admit that given the option I'd play a teen elezen or a padjal or a young male viera the moment that it was released based entirely around the fact that I think it would be awesome from a story standpoint to see my "too young and innocent to be dealing with all this" character fighting god-beings and dealing with the emotional impact of the storyline, imagine most of the things that happen to our warriors of light from the perspective of someone that age, and them growing up due to those experiences

I did much the same in games like dragon age origins, my character was very much played as a paragon female human noble who was suddenly thrown into losing everything and carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders

I don't honestly think that being a grizzled seen-it-all veteran fits the storyline for this game, at least not until you reach the stormblood storyline, maybe I'm biased

I've seen hypocrisy from the pro male viera camp. I've yet to see it from the other side. I'm not saying it doesn't exist mind you, only that I haven't encountered it.
