Female Hrothgar as a playable race. Show your support!

please, se! give us female horthgar!

Square Enix, please give us Female Hrothgar! I'd prefer them with lion-y faces, but I'll take what I can get.

Absolutely in favor of male viera and female hrothgar... gender locked races are silly in 2019, a world where inclusion is very important. It leaves people out that prefer playing another gender but enjoy the flavor of a race. Lore for male viera exists... time to come out of the wood works males for the greater good! If Hrothgar are soley based on ronso then female Hrothgar already EXIST in physical form in FFX. I'm also sick of gaming companies making sexy and beautiful female races but leaving the male ones to be the "brutish" ones. Why cant we have brutish females and graceful elegant males as well? I'd rather have more options then less in mmorpg character creation.

Genderlocking is something that was abolished in Final Fantasy 14 and 11 for multiple reasons and should not be introduced again. The devs may not have intended to, but genderlocking reinforces gender-norms and sets a bad precedent for the game and MMO's as a whole. Having both genders is an important step in the correct direction of providing ways for EVERYONE to be able to play what they're comfortable with in addition to feeling represented. "Lore" reasons can and should be changed in the face of a massive amount of paying players wanting representation. Not to mention FF14 truly is a different game and world than FF12.

We understand these things take time and money but genderlock needs to stay abolished. So, please Square, if you must add male viera and female hrothgar later please do it soon.


Personally, I DESPERATELY want and would love to play female Hrothgar. I've been wanting a strong, female beast-race character for a LONG long time and a lady Ronso? Oh my god HELL YES. I was absolutely enchanted with the Ronso in Final Fantasy X and seeing both genders was a breath of fresh air for me at the time. Please allow this in FF14 too!!

A female Ronso WOL would fit the mold perfectly. A courageous, powerful force and striking avatar as Hydaelyn's savior, warrior of darkness and a warrior of balance.

Please add female Hrothgar as a playable race! I would love to be a more beast like character! I usually play as female and would really like to have this option!

Since I want to play as a male Viera Dragoon, I think it is just fair, that both a male Viera as well as a female Hrothgar should be implemented as soon as possible!

Long time FemRoe and I would almost certainly change if there was a female Hrothgar option. As it stands I will probably make a Hrothgar alt but I won't fantasia my main.

Just genderlocking 2 races is stupid, imo

Im so tired of females being delicate and cute, Ive surely have known tons of woman whose avatar would totally be a feral race more so than the cute kitties. Not hating miqos or any race, but variety should go both ways and females already were stripped to the opportunity of looking fierce with the decisions made with female aura so...

We truly do need more buff ladies.

I'd have actually considered changing my miqo'te to a female Hrothgar. Oh well.

+1 Gender-locking has always been a huge negative for me, It makes no sense and removes options from the player base and overall diversity.

I'm all for Female Hrothgar, And whilst on the topic i feel that the Male Hrothgar are far too indistinguishable from Roegadyn based on what we have seen, If we are essentially getting Ronso then please can we get there correct anatomy and not a re-skinned Roe.

Appreciate all the staff at SE and the huge amount of work that goes into everything they do, however this falls short of the high bar set by the rest of the games content.

As there is already precedent for female Ronso/Hrothgar, I think it is only reasonable to include them. As there is no Hrothgar/Ronso lore even present in FFXIV yet, it seems needless to lock the female counterpart with lore likely being the reason. Further, I think it provides females and female-character players a chance to play a look that normally is not provided in FFXIV or in MMOs in general - very rarely are feminine characters given a beastly look. Please let us have this option!

I have a few of questions regarding this race as a whole that I hope get answered at some point, which are as follows:

1. We know next to nothing about this race, and despite this, the announcement of Hrothgar being a playable race seemed to have come out of left field. Granted, the Au'Ra was a surprise, but we managed to see one in the game (Yugiri) before it was announced that we could play as Au'Ra. With that being said, will we get some lore sometime soon?

2. Not only did we hear that this race would become playable, but we also found out that it, like Viera would be gender-locked. Again, there is a lack of lore, which would explain why only males are playable. It would be weird if females didnt exist or scarcely exist...in fact i think that would be very weird if they didnt. So I gotta ask: will we get some more information regarding why they decided on hrothgar being male only?

As far as the initial announcement of Hrothgar being a playable race, again, it was very unexpected. I can't say im against it. I think the game can use more diversity with races. However, the announcement that this race in particular would be male only is baffling. While we dont have lore or much of an explanation explaining why this is male only, from a lore perspective, again it seems unusual and ,if you apply real wold logic, unnatural.

I'm not at all angry at the announcement of gender-locked races, rather ive been thinking about things from a logical perspective. We know next to nothing about this race, and to be told its male only makes me think that this was a rush job to deal with the leak that occurred a while back. If that's the case, I don't think the dev's should have rushed to give us what feels like an unfinished product (i.e a missing gender.)

If we're going to delve into lore as the reasons why certain genders in races are more prominent, and we don't know the deal with Hrothgar, it shouldn't be too hard to add Female Hrothgar into the game at a future point in time if the dev's so choose to do so.

tl;dr it would feel more natural to get female Hrothgar at some point. also more lore on this race would be nice. please and thanks.

Adding my support here because other players deserve their beasty buff woman they want as much as the rest deserve the male Viera they want. Lift the gender lock.

I'm 100% fine with Female Hrothgar, however the dip in quality shown in the Male Hrothgar as they are is a much more urgent issue.
Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, I can see the seam where the muzzle meets the Roegadyn face in the announcement video when the light hits it from the side. It's basically a Roegadyn with a cat muzzle glued on top, not to mention the body model is the Roegadyn model with no adjustments that I can discern.

If it was up to me, I would rather keep the XIV quality standard by fixing the Hrothgar or I would scrap them entirely.

As a side note: Please refrain to derail this issue into some kind of progressive political crusade.

Agreed! I think showing a strong and proud Hrothgar femme is super important and would be wonderful.

Although I probably would not main a female Hrothgar, I would still love to see them in-game! I might make a female Hrothgar retainer, just because I've loved seeing the female Ronso in FFX! But anywho, more muscular females are needed in this game! I want to see female Hrothgar running around shouting, "HORNLESS!" just as much as the male Hrothgar! (Silly and possibly rude, but no hard feelings of course!) No more genderlocked races please! Bring on the female Hrothgar!!!

Yes please! I don't like genderlock at all, and if people want to play as a beast person, they shouldn't be limited to males! Would love if the female was just as muscular and strong.

Showing my support as well! I am really hyped for Hrothgar and a bit bumped by the fact that I will have to change my character to male as it does not represent me. I really wish, in the near future, to be able to play a bestial looking female lion while playing music on bard or entertaining people on dancer. It would be super fun for me and I hope YoshiP and the Dev Team will consider how much people want to see both Viera and Hrothgar available for both genders!

hi uhh first time posting but I just wanted to add my voice in here where the Developers can maybe see it.

for me I've always wanted to see a larger feline race with females I could play as, as much as I love miqo'te I've always loved the size and vitality of rogadayne, often I've swapped between the two races never quite happy with either. many times I've joked with friends about FF14 adding a mixed race fantasia and becoming a roe'qutie so I could have the perfect mix in my mind to play as long as the game lasted

I was not able to watch the live letter where they where announced and when finding the video for Hrothgar, I was ecstatic that the fantasy I've held onto may be able to come true, I understand that making these races is tough on the developers with more work then I could know to make them to the high standers of the rest of FF14 but I needed to speak out my disappointment and voice my hopes that we may yet see female Hrothgar as playable in FF14

Adding my +1 of support in this thread too. I strongly dislike things being locked to either male or female in a game with so much imagination and customisation.

Adding my support. I wouldn't ever play one myself but as a roleplayer I hate the idea of genderlocked races. And I personally think they should have picked one full new race instead of two half races.

Though I absolutely would not expect the missing genders here to be added before 6.0 at the earliest I do hope it happens one day. I'm surprised they did this again after filling things out with highlanders/miqos/roes in 2.0.

Throwing my voice in support but we have to admit, based on how few people play FemRoe and how little posts are in this thread compared to Male Viera, its not looking good for the "Dev Time vs Results" argument.

For similar reasons as the Viera male models, I would like to see female Hrothgar in the game. There is no real reason not to put in the effort to create a second entire race instead of creating a full gender pair for the first race.

I support banishing gender locking forever. It should not exist in this day and age. Have Female Hrothgar and Male Viera as paid DLC if you have too but make them please.

Please reconsider the stance on genderlocked races and give us female hrothgar.
