Normally I would take them at face value on that, but with no male Viera in sight, and the leaks being right about literally everything up to this point, it seems likely that they'll do something like, "I know we said Viera was the last new race... but we've gotta give the guys something! Haha it would be really cool if they did that! :) I'm still a bit skeptical, but if you end up being right about that would still be pretty awesome. Gotta see how it goes! Either way, they have a lot of time and can always build according to reactions they receive as the game progresses. My question is mainly whether they'll take the previous reactions to Roegadyn and Miqo'te as their test sample or if they're still wary, and what they plan to do with that info.

That's the thing though, we've been wanting these for years and now people are getting bent out of shape because we haven't seen any signs of male viera and it's like the worlds going to implode.

I’m going to be optimistic for once and assume that they haven’t finished working on the males yet.

I wanted to play a male bunny, I am sad and confused

Please point me to the post where someone implied the world is going to implode. In the meantime, let me remind you that "If this doesn't happen I'm going to feel this way" is not an inference to said world implosion, rather people stating how the exclusion of the male gender would make them feel. So far, the only people I've seen overreacting or "getting bent out of shape" are the people who read the topic of this thread and start seeing red. We have acknowledged that there are other fan fests. We have acknowledged the possibility of a future reveal of the male Viera. However, their complete disregard of the topic has some, myself included, a bit concerned. We're allowed to be. Just like you're allowed to come in here and chastise people. The only people I've seen "get bent out of shape" are those with their weak counter arguments or snide comments (you fall into the latter).

the negativity around gender locking is since ARR they have decided not to do that and it could lead to another potential problem thats in kmmos and that is gender locked jobs want to try new job get a fantasia for £/$ i rather ffxiv stays away from any gender locking on races/jobs

So who is "We" than when you say that you've all acknowledged the fact that there is a possibility of male viera. I'm not attacking anyone, but it's just a sight to see how people can "react" to not getting certain things. Again I'd be more than happy to have male and female viera included in shadowbringers.

But I'm glad you feel it's in your right to come out and make your own snide remarks at me as you can only make out the red in my remarks.

And yes I was using exaggeration on the quote about people getting bent out of shape and the world imploding, but again maybe it's because that's how some people are also in turn reacting to the fact that they can't get male veria, just like I'm sure you exaggerated "I will wait for more information before I start punching baby pandas out of sadness."

Not even an artwork shown. Doesnt matter if they couldnt make it to finish the ingame models. But I start to believe, they're scared of showing the male race. It will probably lead to frustration and probably affect the preorders which will start on the 6th february.

I don`t mind if gender locked, really love them, the animation and everything.

I can't believe they didn't acknowledge or even talk about Male Viera. I personally am not affected by it, but if this race is gender locked, that is a huge mistep. Even if by BluFever magic we get another male only race, it's not the same. They shouldn't gender lock races lol. *shakes head*

XIV offers an opportunity to show the male Viera and it will be just sad to miss it especially if the Viera is the last race that will be added in the game.

Not even acknowledging it at the art panel seems like a mistake. Surely they know everyone's asking.

If they're trying to build up hype, it's causing more negative than positive press in the meantime.

And if they're not including males, the extended wait is only going to make the backlash worse.

Technically they said Viera is likely the last race. That means they're still open to it, as likely is just another word for 'probably.' Not saying "it will be the last" or "is the last" just makes me think there's another planned.

Yoshi is going to get pestered at every interview about this and its one of his own making no sympathy you didn't need to show anything just confirm that Veira are or are not gender locked by saying nothing you are either building up people hopes or their discomfort or both.

Honestly what compounds my disappointment with this is the way they are dancing around it, when a company does that it's typically because they know it will anger people but are trying to get away with something anyway. Would I still be mad if they came out and said female only, yes, but it would be a much more calm anger.

"We are happy to announce the first Limited Race of FINAL FANTASY XIV, the Viera! Please look forward to it!"

Ouch. I hope there is more to new races whether it's male Viera or another race that is male only.

I know things are heating up through this thread and all, but honestly we have until July. There's plenty of time for more news and SE wants people to be excited for this. I've seen cases where entertainment companies ranged between ignorant, indifferent, and actively hostile toward customers. That works out for them about as well as you'd expect. From everything I've seen, that seems to be the precise opposite to SE's approach.

I've been wrong before, but in case it helps those worrying I really think this is going to end up being okay and fans won't be left without. Just a question of timing. And to people who are annoyed at fans who are freaking out and consider this small stuff, just wanna encourage you guys to relax too. You still have a fantastic game coming up. Focus on what you're excited for, it's not worth it to stress about other people being stressed.

There's no good reason for that, though. Au Ra were announced with both male and female and SE should know by now that people will complain about gender-locked stuff, which is usually exclusive to glamour. A race? While I have no interest in Viera at all (they look like a Miqo'te-Elezen hybrid with rabbit ears in this game), SE should know that there'd be a much bigger outcry over that.

I sincerely hope they don't gender-lock Viera. They have so much creative freedom to fill in the blank that exists when it comes to the males (since they've never existed in a game before), I don't understand why they wouldn't seize it. I just find it so strange that they haven't said a word on whether the men will even exist at all. I will be sincerely disappointed if they don't allow us to make males.

It just seems a bit silly you know? A race reveal is generally something highly anticipated that will boost sales.
So why reveal a new race 4 days before pre-orders open but only reveal the females? Why make literally no mention of male Viera in your race reveal video and your art panel where you had a segment about the new race?

Why dance around this issue 4 days before pre-orders open? Because Square wants to keep something to reveal for the Tokyo Fanfest? Do they really have this little content that they need to keep the reveal of a race's GENDER for an entirely different fanfest?

They have the freedom after all i say since FFXIV is its own game in the franchise, i mean if you look at FFXI they als had "Miqote", "Rogadyn" which were gender locked, tooked those and made there own in this game, why not make the same with Viera, its another Universe simply, homages and inspiratiosn to the franchise as a whole are ok but give me something new Square, i would had even prefered Bangana as playable race but asian market and there "cute characters", the Viera as shown now in 14 are also less beastly as there originals, same base model as always sadly with just ears anda tail added again basically, the feet are the only example so far.

Right now, your only hope is someone submits a question asking about male viera and Yoshida drawing it for the Eorzean Question Time tomorrow.
