I started when NA launched and I just leveled solo most of the time so it took me awhile, I hated solo but FFXI being completely new to me I was lost and confused until my friends came to play. Funny thing was even during the LOLDRG days when I did worm my way into a party it always ended in "So glad we invited you instead of that DRK/SAM/WAR!" I never understood the sudden hate I mean it went from everyone beind kind and nice to people seeing my class as weak and useless and not even a "real job".Quote:

I'm done with this topic after this post, its just gonna end up page after page of wow bashing and I usually don't involve myself in the bashing of other games. I'll reccomend WoW to people but I'd reccomend FF over it ONLY because of personal experiences.
In all the time I played WoW I made lots of friends but thats it, they remain "WoW Friends" outside the game they mean little to nothing in my RL. In FFXI however I have made great RL friends, I've went to a RL wedding between 2 of my long time FFXI friends and the EGLS we ran with, I've been to NY and spent a couple days hanging with a friend from my social LS and his family. Hell I even have friends in China(not RMT) and Japan that I planned to visit next year. -

But ya it got easier cuz well the cry for it got louder then the actuall mmo players. The anti mmo crowd are infact taking over mmo. And making them into kiddy games.
Games should be fun and easy to jump into. But... should only be tailored to its audince of choice. NOT seek out other crowds just for $$$$ -

I was lvl 1 and just checking out the server. I made my way into stormwind (as usesually is the hub in WoW for ally side) ( this was just after the summer event last year nearing brewfest) I saw an opt to role play. The town was attacked by some horde guys. And i just ducked in the garden pub. I came out asked if they was gone. Then all the higher levels encircled me and bullied me calling me a Wh#re, street trast, horde spy, a Horde Wh#re. All because I was level 1 and human female. I was just testing out the server after getting my account back on after it was hacked years before. (i had quit due to play time) I took this to the server forums and pretty much ppl made excuses for it and I found myself on a 3 day ban. Yet eveyone else was ok. : / -

Almost every aspect of FF11 is harder than WoW, if you don't believe me, you have never played WoW or you have never played FF11, one of the 2. Until they nerfed CoP, there was nothing in WoW that even compared to the difficulty of just a set of missions in 1 of FF11's expansions. -

Well I just played WoW today for the first time ever, also got 2 of my LS to sign up on free trials too and it was a lot of fun. FFXIV has spoiled me with graphics so at first I was like wtf lol. It feels like an online Fable to me atm, we spent all day running around doing quests got to level 12. I actually really like the quests, after hearing how bad they were supposed to be I was surprised at how much fun I found them.
I didn't like the battle system as much as I like FFXIV's though but it was ok I suppose. Have a few stupid restrictions on the trial though you can't send /tell's to someone unless you are on their friends list, also can't say anything in any other chat channel apart from party but you also can't invite anyone to a party either if your on the trial. In the end one of my friends somehow managed to get a random person to invite her to a party and then she explained and got him to invite us and then left just so we could play together. Seemed like a bit of a stupid restriction to put on it for a trial ><
Other than that though had a lot of fun on it today and it will keep me busy until the servers go back up, well as long as they go up within 10 days anyway ^^ -

People don't like it because of the simplicity the game brings since WotLK, it was a good, hard game back in the day, but the devs bend to everybody's will for the most part and hold your hand through the whole entire game, hell, even raid bosses they hold your hand. The community is also another thing, it is full of kids from 4chan.

FFXI main problem is its design is so blind to other kinds of gamers that years later they had to add a level sync to make up for the lack of people. Now they also watered down all other content and made xp double(among a lot of other things). On the other hand if you make things too easy your game will also fall easily(since WoW already filled that spot). WoW community attitude problem(in my opinion) comes from things being so easily obtained so if you don't have it its like "You must truly suck! They practically are handing these out to us! Still not for me but it went back to making Hardcore players feel better at endgame instead of just focusing on Casuals. Dungeons are also a lot more fun now since it requires tactics to beat them. My main problem with WoW is it change classes around too much. I can never enjoy my class because soon as some say 'OMG THEY ARE OVERPOWERED!" There is a huge nerf bomb a patch later. Players will have their preferences for games they play, develop prejudices for other games for one reason or another, played or unplayed.
In my opinion, Blizzard has set genre standards for what interfaces should be: Flowing and intuitive. Blizzard has incorporated popular user customizations and suggestions to evolve its interface.
To put a different perspective on this: WoW is the Justin Bieber of MMORPGs. Do guys hate Justin Bieber? Or do they hate the way his fans behave and the way his fans belittle non-fans and their musical interests? These guys start to associate negativity with Bieber himself and in turn, anything Bieber does, guys hate it, whether they listen to the song or not.
WoW community very different prior to the South Park episode that made WoW mainstream. Other MMORPG players didn't care about WoW bashing until WoW became Justin Bieber. And in my opinion, WoW bashing tends to bring out such a negativity in people that I find it detrimental to building a new community. I'd rather we be united in our hopes, goals, and love of FFXIV. -

Second WoWs community sucks, I played it a year and never found a decent guild. Never found my niche group, never found a decent group of rp'ers. I was pretty open when first trying the game. Wasn't bias and first thing I got when being nice to ppl was to stfu. All I did was say Hi to someone. And ask a few questions
third WoW's UI imo an eye sore and not ultra easy or fluid. The way ppl talk about it is like anyone can pick it up. I'm not a pc gamer and I found it hard to get. I also thought it was pretty ugly and hard to controll your character well. I like and understood ffxi UI better, and it is nice to actually see the game. Not a row of abilities up in your face.
I'm no game newbie by a long shot, but WoW isn't as easy to figure out as pp -
