To be clear, I personally dislike the goobue as a mount and also think the implementation of another mount just a few patches after getting chocobos and airships is to soon to be spending so much time on. If this were next Summer and the mount wasn't such a poor design choice, I would be all for it.

I can sorta agree with your first point, but the fact is that adding more mounts is also valid content for plenty of people even if these new mounts are nothing other than chocobo replacements and are just bought with company seals.

I hardly see it as "wasted work" and you fail to realize that these mount animations can be used for other interesting things such as having mounted enemies, or that they CAN make each mount different in an interesting way (like players requiring specific mounts to be able to reach certain places).

Just because you personally don't enjoy it doesn't mean others won't, no need to be so "nerd raged" over it.

THAT is completely different, those are spells and abilities(just like the video). You are just using mindtrick on em. And summoners not even close to a wild animal.

And how do you know we aren't also going to use a spell or ability to tame a gobbue? Or get a gobbue egg and "tame" him? Or you know, any other possible in game explaination they are surely going to give us about how / why we are able to mount them?

We've had people taming Dragons ,Sea Serpents, or literally every single regular monster in the game in this damn series, but suddenly mounting an enemy "breaks your immersion" and "has nothing to do with Final Fantasy" as some others are claiming?

Just admit it, the "breaks my immension" argument can just as easily be changed to "I don't like it". Go ahead, just be honest and say you don't like it, it's perfectly fine.

Honestly I think if they want to add additional mounts they should just be different types of chocobo mounts instead of random in-game monsters...

I'll use it on occasion just because the thought of rampaging through a crowd of Lalafel's bemuses me. I sincerely hope that they add a maniacal laughter emote just for it.

As for not being thematic; were shoopuf's not themeatic in X? What about the truck in VII? Not thematic? It's asinine to claim that alternate mounts are non thematic in a game's setting when the game setting allows it. Furthermore, it's stupid to require all games in the FF franchise to remain strictly alike thematically. If SE had done so, we wouldn't have had half the games we've gotten.

I can get not preferring the alternate mounts, but the frothy rants are a bit sad.

I like the idea of additional mounts simply for aesthetic purposes, but something about a goobbue mount just doesn't seem right lol. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked goobbues. I've farmed them for countless hours in FFXI and never really got bored of them. I just think they're a bit too large to be a mount.

If it was a truly unique mount, where only one existed per server and we had to compete for it, (kinda like a game of tag) then that would be cool. I'm just cringing of the thought of seeing a bunch of goobbues all in one spot lol.

I would have preferred something smaller; Dodos, Tonberrys, Coblyns (though those would probably suck to sit on) or something of that nature. Or even better, costumes for our chocobos that relate to the "LIVE" content we're seeing now such as Garlean invasions and primal fights. Chocobo moogle costumes ftw :o

Again, you're just assuming we will have no explaination at all for this. Following the "it fits the story" argument then I guess you were also against other stuff that's been implemented like Materia or Good King Moogle Mog, because both of these things were NEVER, EVER mentioned in the game's lore AT ALL until literally AFTER the patch that added them. You must also be against jobs (again, never mentioned at all), and pretty much any new feature they plan to add that "don't fit the story" prior to their implementation.

They can explain these mounts and include them in the lore, it's not a hard thing to do at all and that argument is completly invalid, sorry.
