Hunts aren't huge on siren during my hours, they still aren't. I also sense "entitlement" to something which effort hasn't really been put in to obtain. It is to say 'you haven't really deserved something if you haven't put effort into obtain it'.

Actually that is the thing ddos is a thing and according to se was a problem during the first two weeks of causing server interruptions, which would indeed effect your ability to clear potd solo, but hey this thread is about hunts lets keep it that way.

No i didn't HAVE to. I didn't want to do any other content in the game to begin with lol (I might have quit if I hand't found the 'fun' of S ranks, some might callit boring or tedious rng). Popping S ranks is the only thing that keeps me logging in, otherwise I'd go play another MMO). I don't like dungeons, I don't like raiding, I don't even like beastment dailies or stuff like Gold Saucer. I do enough to keep being able to qualify for content as it comes out (in case for whatever reason I'm feeling productive and want to run an EXR). I did the current 24 man like twice and will be lucky to q for that before reset. I don't care about mounts. MAAAYBE a little about minions and a little about crafting.

I will confess that my favorite times in WoW was when the big Galleon and/or TRex w/lazors popped and hundreds of playes including the other side would zone in and mass chaos ensue. To a lesser extent I liked hunting rares like TLPD

So I guess it can be summed up as: I like open world content/bosses

Don't get me wrong, you're free to enjoy whatever content you want to enjoy, I'm just explaining why getting this mount is almost impossible for someone who plays a reasonable amount of time.

Why use the term "sniped"? I mean, is it dick-ish they didn't call it out for others to possibly show up? Yes. But are they entitled to tell others if they find a hunt? No.

I'm not condoning the behavior but hunts were never meant to be zerged anyhow.

The term "sniped" is usually used to refer to a hunt that is both not called and not reported on the tracker.

It's largely the latter aspect that annoys me, because it often becomes a vicious cycle where the S rank is repeatedly killed without being called/reported for several spawns in a row.

The main issue I have with this achievement is that we have no guarantee we will have hunts in two years. The zones freak out if forty people gather for a hunt now, and I can't see them continuing to have things that force so many players into a small place. Hunts and boss fates are the biggest offenders of this. When they make very long-term achievements, there is no guarantee that they can remain doable or continue to exist if they need to revise the game. So they shouldn't make them take generally longer than a year of play.

Because this was a requested mount from a lot of people, yet thanks to the requirements most of those that asked for it will never see it. Also other then the PVP rewards, nothing in this game is that hard to get and it breeds even more toxicity in hunting thanks to the need to kill so many S ranks while at the same time most of the older ones die way too fast.

I mean why is it fine that some content can be done unsynch thus mounts and stuff from savage are obtainable by the casual players yet this one achievement should stay as it was just that some handful of people can have their special reward. 2nd, i agree on the fact about how many ppl requested this mount and then how many ppl will never get it for themselves. yet someone who owns it thinks he has the right to say its not impossible (well,...you did get it, right?) and that we should stop crying. the FACT many ppl asked for it and the FACT many people will NEVER get it, is the point being discussed here (even though it might have been formulated differently by OP)... and maybe not how special you are that u got it and the rest doesnt. All i did was throwing in some options yet i felt i got some critique my way from said person who owns one. I never agreed or disagreed; just gave some options.

I still stand behind what i said about 'what i think' post and that SE actually shouldve given a different mount for this. Maybe a super massive mount that shifts forms every time you call it- the forms will be the S' of course! yet they failed in supplying the demand in a correct way and kinda did; here is your tiger mount, have FUN getting it! /shantottolaugh (< when are getting that emote btw?)

It's meant to be a long time achievement but I do agree.

Plus it's a bit underwhelming tbh

Oh dont worry I can understand that someone might not want to make something more achievable for others if they got it while it was still the old way. And normally I am not a fan of making everything easier to get just so that everyone can get it (I am looking at you veteran rewards). But there are some cases where I just feel that the achievement is way too much. Is it completely impossible? No! But for the majority its kinda in a way and I just find achievements bad which can be barely done, especially if something is behind it that a lot of people wanted.

I mean I am someone that was working on getting to PotD 200 solo. Yet nobody achieved that yet because there is only one job that even stands a theoretical chance to getting there and you need tons of RNG on top of that. So even if in some kind of strange way I would reach 200 solo I would still post that there needs to be a change. It might be possible (still not really sure if its even possible thanks to the time limit) but it does not change the fact that for me this was not thought out well. (Heck I am not sure if they ever tested if this was even doable). So this title might be something that will never be reached. The same with the Gold Saucer ones and a lot of PVP frontline ones.

It just does not motivate me to do them because in my eyes they are not possible in a reasonable amount of time and some good dedication. If I want to get them now I would have to constantly try to get each S rang and on top of that hope that the old ones are not killed too fast. This will get worse with the next expansion and if they dont change a thing about them. So imo this achievement might be less possible the more the time goes on.

I'm a member of one of the biggest hunt linkshells on my server. One of the members has the tiger and she started hunting in patch 2.3. It has taken all this time to get it. That is insane!

There's always a few things in every MMO that are very grindy. This is one of them. I'd rather see it left as is even if I won't get it for a few more months probably.

As one of the players who have it, I can confirm I have no life and that it took me 3 years to get it.

The tiger is small, smaller than other tank style mounts and largely not worth the effort.

Thanks for confirming my decision to not give a crap about the mount then. No way am I going to actively grind for years for anything. That is the kind of activity that turns a fun game into a second job. Screw that!

yes either that or make the S ranks spawn sooner

I also have to vote leave it as is, I do feel games benefit from items that less then .5% of the community can obtain.

On a side note though I do not think this item is meant to be a grind, just something one obtains over the course of their time playing the game. Sure if you want to grind for it more power to you, but I highly doubt SE made this mount with the intention of people to endless grind towards it. Pretty much feel as if the item is simply meant to be a natural progress for those that do hunts.

What I suggest is since we have all these achievement tokens now let us use them to purchase mounts and minions like this one that are out of reach of the majority of players that way those of us that did get all the veteran rewards before the change have something we can spend the tokens on. With how toxic the hunting community is on servers like mine it would be a nice thing to let us keep avoiding the mess that is hunts on our server.

I am by no means a veteran hunter--I started towards the tail end of Heavensward when I ran out of things to do--but I can imagine even someone who started hunting from Day One of ARR must find the requirement of 2000 S-ranks for this mount to be punitive to the point of ridiculousness. I wouldn't mind one bit to see this halved (or even quartered!) given the speed with which ARR S-ranks die, once found. If I take into account the rate at which I currently accumulate S-rank kills, being a somewhat active (but not religious) huntress, it could take me upwards of TEN YEARS to attain this mount.

I stand at 198/2000, and cast my vote in favour of having the requirements eased, please and thank you.

Depends what you think qualifies. I've hit a few nodes, I've jumped off a few cliffs, I've caught a few fish, here and there.

I don't dedicate myself to doing so however, because I'm not particularly keen on a system where I could be doing everything to make a mob spawn only to not actually know about it when it does, and get none of the rewards for doing so. That's like being that guy back in 2.x running off to do other FATEs to try to make your book FATE spawn faster, only for it to spawn and get killed by other people before you can make it back. No thanks.

Nobody says you have to be able to catch every S spawn. The majority of us (that aren't robots) don't, anyway.

Could you say what is so unreasonable about a 6-8 hour respawn timer, considering the S ranks are only worth about a little over twice the rewards as an A rank as it is?

I don't know how true this is, but I've heard some talk that certain mobs in the (are we ever going to get it?) Eureka content will count for S-rank and A-rank hunt kills. If that's true and they're farm-able in that zone, then those requirements probably make more sense in that context.

Problem is, I don't know if that's even true, how farm-able it would be even if it is, and... will we get Eureka before we die of old age?

Besides, if they lowered the respawn windows, they would have to do something about the requirements for some hunts. Like the ones that require leves as S Rank spawners burn through leves like crazy. I have burned through 60 leves before in ONE window on ONE hunt (Lampalagua) with no dice. Or hunts that spawn on moon phases. Or hunts that spawn on rain phases. Or hunts that spawn off of treasure chests which are heavily time and gil gated. Or Nuyunuwi and his one hour of unfailed FATES... Or the fact that some hunts will go 48 hours unspawned because the RNG on spawning is ass...

I don't know about Hyperion, but even in Balmung we do not have enough S Rank spawners to ever keep up with something like that.

Just let the hardcore hunters have their mount. It doesn't need to be nerfed, it's just something to work for if you really want it. There's no time limit or anything, just because you cant grind it out in a week doesn't make it poorly implemented.

I'm new to the game, but one of the things I immediately picked up on was The Hunt. I've enjoyed it so far, and as a completionist I'd love to get these achievements.

Realistically, that achievement is impossible without living in the game. Assuming you get 3-4 spawns every cycle, it would take real life years. That's not rational design.

Please look into changing it.

Please SE at least nerf the S Rank number for the mount.

Its not that people want a challenge or something to work toward, its just that they want it to be as rare as possible so they can "look cool" on the mount. This 'Kardashian Syndrome' really needs to be cured. Everyone fine with this absurd level of RNG kills, or trying to argue its positives are suffering from the illness.

I dont mind long grinds but when you put RNG behind it, it becomes less of a marathon to the finish line and more like being lucky on your next pull at the slot machine. Oh you were online at the right moment as the hunt spawned? You were the first one to arrive on the scene? Conglaturations, you win!

Its not RNG. There are tons of resources you can use; hunt trackers for your server, hunt linkshells, etc. Its not rng just because people have been hunting longer than you and have more experience. Let the hunters have their fancy mount bragging rights just like the raiders/ gold saucer players have theirs.

Gold Saucer has multiple ways to earn MGP however so you can't really say this is the same thing. There is an element of RNG involved with the Gold Saucer ones and all sure but you have many options.

S ranks do not give you that kind of luxury. Since they are locked behind a time gate even the most active of hunters will not always be around for them when they spawn. Even when they do spawn, depending on the time of day you're lucky to even arrive at it unless you were already on that map. I've had days where I'm actively hunting/trying to spawn these things where it just doesn't happen and then I find out it spawned while I was at work or sleeping.

Sure its nice to give the hunters something so they have more reason to hunt, but 2000 S ranks is bloody overkill. Adding in the time gate, the amount of time people can play the game, and other variables, theres a good chance for years only people who spend most of their time in game are going to acquire this. Why should people get locked out of a mount (A highly requested mount at that) just because of how S ranks in game are?

Pro-tip: S-ranks do not randomly spawn. They have specific triggers. So if theyre being summoned at 3 or 4 am then thats when your server's hunt community has decided its most convenient to do so. Maybe time zone differences ir scheduling whatever, but i doubt its to personally prevent others from getting a kill.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to put this mount behind such a completely asinine achievement needs to be fired. :eek:

Seriously though, 100% agree the achievement itself either needs to be adjusted (at least halved) or the S ranks need to be adjusted (more of them, spawning faster, etc.). It'd also be nice if they would make old world S ranks not complete paper.

That's false in two ways. One is that most S-Ranks do have a random factor to their respawn timer. Even if they show as open on the tracker, Ariyala only tracks the minimum recorded spawn time. Many S-Ranks won't really become available when the tracker says they are. Then there's the fact that those specific triggers are, for the most part, RNG based, with very few exceptions. I can run around Upper La Noscea with my favorite minion all I want, I have no guarantee that Nandi will spawn. And therein lies the biggest difference between this and basically the rest of the game - the amount of time I invest in it is not proportional to the amount of progress I will gain towards the achievement. Sometimes I'll get 10 S ranks in the span of an hour. Sometimes I'll go through a week without a single one. They're not completely random, but they're certainly not as certain as you make them out to be. And that's before we get to this point:

No one said this is personal. But this is the precise problem with these achievements that I mentioned earlier in the thread - S ranks are an open world resource. And if your schedule doesn't align with that of your server, or worse, RNG is mean to you, you can kiss this achievement goodbye. This isn't deciding to play one game mode over the other, this isn't not having the time to invest in a grind - it's the unique nature of hunts that they're one of the most unforgiving things in the game, specifically S ranks. Between RNG being mean to you and other people having the ability to lock you out of the hunt by killing it before you so much as tagged it (can be anything from early pulling to just being there while you had to take a five minute break from the game because real life is a thing) some people might literally never get this achievement no matter how hard they try.

This is going to be an extremely unpopular opinion among the hardcore hunters but IMHO it should have been 2000 A ranks and 3000 B ranks. At that point, it could have been marginally obtainable for casuals.

As it stands now, it's ridiculous.

For the love of everything, no. I think someone brought it up earlier in the thread, how that means that B ranks will begin to pingpong around the map and weekly hunts will become a nightmare. I fully second their notion. Just yesterday I was trying to find my weekly B mark in Northern Thanalan, but people scouting for the A rank kept killing it whenever they saw it. Being 50-something vs. 70s, I only managed to get credit if I was there when they found it. If they found it before I did, it was dead before I could even dismount.
S ranks are an open world resource that's problematic to reach and that's for people who actually want to partake in this mad race. If you involve the B rank, the casuals you supposedly want to help will be harmed compared to their current gameplay because weekly hunt marks are one of the only ways non-hunters have of getting those mount speeds.
