11 minutes after servers were up and EVERY HOUSE was gone on Balmung. New and old wards...
Signed. 2 new pages worth of signatures in the time it took to log into the forum. Kinda tells ya something.
Signed. We need 50 wards minimum.
/signed I don't care how, just fix it please.
Housing is a légitimate expectation in any serious mmo : signed² !! :(
There's no sane explanation for 12 wards instead of 20, or 24, or however many it takes to let people get a house. With the amount of stuff in the game that is housing focused now, it's completely unacceptable to put it behind login queue roulette with a window of 10 minutes where anything was available.
This isn't the 90s. Server scaling is easy now. Spin up a couple of VMs to double the ward count and move on. That doesn't even require changing to truly instanced housing since we already have wards. It's hard to see any explanation for it at this point except Japanese stubbornness in refusing to admit that artificial scarcity on something you can't even legally sell by the TOS is a stupid idea.

I think the most bitter pill to swallow will be the one where SE does nothing until the next expansion, gives us another twelve wards of housing and this whole ordeal happens again. I missed out the first time and it sucked, back then I didn't have the gil. Now I do and the reason I can't get a house is because I got stuck in a thousand-long queue. Meanwhile Yoshi claims housing should be for everyone. Sadly if they haven't fixed the problem after this long I can't see them fixing it in the future. It's really discouraging.

this needs fixed if they want this game to continue to grow every time they add wards or anyhing to houseing at this rate it will be a PR nightmare every time they need to fix this now if they ever want there sub numbers to compeate with wow

Kinda makes you wonder why bother grinding out making money for the only thing you wanted from the SB expansion when all you really need is pure luck during the queue.
Signed. They need to both rework the housing system and add more wards. If all the plots on a server were filled in under 14 minutes after the server came up this morning, you obviously have a major housing problem.
Moogle here, 10minutes : all gone :'(

Crafting and decorating is what I enjoy most in that game, and I absolutely love japanese architecture, so when they announced the new Shirogane housing I was over the moon.
I knew it would be really hard to succeed with everybody trying but i got determined to succeed
_I took a day off work to be home on the 10th of october
_I could barely sleep because of the stress the night before
_I spent 3 HOURS refreshing the damn launcher to try and be in the first people to login
..and it failed ! I entered as soon as i could, and everything was long gone. Sold out
I pay my monthly subscription + extra money for retainers + a lot on extra mogstation
So, I think we loyal players don't deserve such frustration and despair
It's ridiculous and cruel, and even if you don't want to make houses available to everybody, there should be a way for those who are really trying to get one.
And i don't count begging strangers to sell theirs for 10 times the price.

I'm so upset that they don't seem to care about what players have been screaming about this problem:(
SE: Lol hey get Shirogane! Shirogane, Shirogane, Shirogane advertising here and there......
after 4.1 patch notes
SE: lol but we only have 720 plots per server XD

The housing issue is a complete joke
Signed!
Not being able to get a plot because i get the 1016 error while nr 100 in queue... I know it's just a game and all, but i'd been really looking forward to the Shirogane housing, like most other. This error and all just killed it for me, all the excitement to play again this patch just disappeared. =/
If y'all got a house you wouldn't even be bothering with this housing sjw stuff. Lol so transparent.
Signed!!!
And this is my exact experience today. Sub 100 in the queue and lobby error. Feel like I've let my entire FC down and the months we have been saving for have been for nothing. Meant to be doing a full server alliance for the new raid later but this has sapped any motivation and excitement I had for this patch.
Some good news is that Japanese players are experiencing the same thing and are being vocal about this issue as well.

We need more wards.

Personal House should be instanced(with no demolish for the instance) and limited 1 per server(all characters on that server have access to the house). if he/she has more than 1, he/she gets a warning to transfer the "main/bigger" house to the instance and the others demolished to free the plot.
I liked the idea of the instance have 1 size, but this could be upgraded with Gil.
The current wards should be FC only. And add more wards based on the population of FCs of server.
Uhhh?? That's kind of the reason why we are complaining...? Because this is a BS system and everyone should be able to obtain housing for a game they pay monthly for? What a concept.
I appreciate the home-owners speaking up about this problem too, and acknowledging that this system is broken. I mean, it's stressful to any normal adult who has to actually work this into their busy schedule. Womp.
Gladly Signed

A solution needs to be found, be it instanced housing or additional wards.

The situation right now is ridiculous. Square really needs to do something!
Social Justice Warrior? I believe you are misusing the term. This is a fervent request from the game's community to make content more available to meet the demand of its player base. We're asking that everyone have the opportunity to access all the aspects of the game and not limit it to the minority.
Individuals have access to Apartments/Personal Houses/Private Rms with the EXACT SAME functionality (aside from items/space for decorating) whereas a Free Company needs a house for access to Workshops, Airships and Private Rooms.
There is no real "social justice" cause here. This is us trying to express our interest so that the game developers will be able to justify the resources and economics of developing more housing solutions. That this topic MATTERS to us. That it is worth their resources to up supply to meet demand.
i tried to share this post in reddit only to get down-voted to oblivion anyone want to help me share the word there that this thread existes?

:( I was really looking forward to the mansion in Shirogane but /everything/ on the server was gone within like 10 minutes.

Even on a "small" server as Lich, all the plots was bought in 10min.

I owned houses (large, mid, small), and I still DON'T see any point in having NOT instanced zones. (Not on my current server, but the previous one.)
Server resources? Quit joking around. The whole server resource thing is just a lame excuse. Yoshi stated several times that the lack of instances is simply his fetish.
SE reminds me of a person with a heavy case of schizophrenia. They hate RMT and traders. But they don't sell gold, and they do this with houses too. All of these simply promotes RMT, gold selling/buying, backstabbing/scamming.
So what are we even talking about?
THEY promote bad behavior and sellers.
Ps.:
- Having instances will not eliminate "uniqueness" of houses. You can easily see who spent more money, time and effort on his/her house.
- Just because you have more houses, that won't mean people won't visit. No one visits other houses now without reason. People visit their own, friends or FC houses. This would not change one bit.
- Most plots that are purchased are simply resold or kept empty. If you visit a housing zone even on a Legacy server - it's just empty plots. WOW, SO UNIQUE! \o/
- Adding instances would get rid of scammers / re-sellers and also kick the people who bought them up by the dozen in the balls.
- Claiming this rarity makes housing unique is silly. Almost all bots you can get for FFXIV have teleport hacks. You could whip up a code that teleports into a zone and buys a house within hours. So what are we really talking about?
- I was on LiquidSky at launch using a Pro package. It's basically a server and has 1gbps solid connection. I know how networks work, but still - network speed or delay wise - I was #1. Yet I managed to land in the world server crash and then it was all sold out. I was like 1 minute late and it was _all_ sold out. All.
Bottom line - and yeah I said this already - this practice only protects the RMT people, bad behavior, and resellers. Not seeing much point in it.
i'll sign it.

If I didn't cancel after each three-month payment, I would be cancelling today. This was it for me - I love Ivalice, but it'd never be the real Ivalice in the game. Main Scenario quests aren't a huge deal when I normally wait to do them in the final patch, as I'm not a Savage raider. I was excited to have a chance at a house. It's something I always enjoy in these games, but FC rooms and apartments are too small and lack the options a house has. I'm bad at making gil, but I finally had enough for a Medium plot, and I didn't even get a chance to do the rat race because of a version check error. If I can't do the thing I was excited to do, then I don't see much of a reason to play once my remaining time runs out. The bottom line is that I pay a sub for this game, and there's part of the game I can't do and likely never will get to do because of limited resources imposed by the development team.
Edit: Additionally, the lack of this is hurting the game for everyone, because RMT has increased dramatically over housing. There's some talk on reddit and elsewhere about how the price of gil has basically doubled; it's almost like the scarcity of housing has led many people to purchase gil because they needed it to get a house today or likely miss it forever.
More houses SE.
