Apology from Yoshi

Oh and gating a MSQ-scenario in a single instance everyone has to go through is so pathetic it almost renders me speechless: you don't properly expect a flood of players and yet you force all of them into 1 scenario.
It really seems most if not every game company only employs people that are not or cannot be critical towards decisions from higher up: You can't convince me that their whole FF14 stormblood team couldn't foresee gating the MSQ behind a single scenario is a good idea.

As far as complaining and forgetting it goes: I will remember such massive blunders. And unlike a lot of people I make no arbitrary distinction that it's "only a game".
The other poster comparing it with a midnight screening was spot on: in that case you would go berserk when the movie is unwatchable due to the cinema's inability to foresee a rush a people - but when it's a game you suddenly caress the company with silken gloves and even defend their avoidable mistakes.

Btw: those 1000 characters for a post is a joke.

My experience in stormblood is exactly like that thus far.
The amount of frustration is unbearable, I'm just hoping on the 20th that the expansion will actually be playable by then.

For someone who got past Raubahn, it isn't just him.
The next instance with Pippin is the same situation. Every job quest is also like this.
Honestly, they should've started transfers before Stormblood early access, not at the start.

My frustration levels are high right now. Been trying for over four hours to get past Raubahn. Nothing but "A system error occurred during event movement.".

On my server there are probably only thirty people total still trying to get past Pipin. Everyone else seems to have given up for now or is still stuck on Raubahn. None of us have managed to progress in the past four or so hours (that we know of, folks don't seem to be telling if they do manage to get past).

With frustration levels high, I wish SE would actually do something and not just say try again later. Its like they don't even care.

NO NO NO NO NO !!!!! We need to hold SE to a higher standard. This is not some sort of new game, or new product, this is an extension of an already up and running game. Did they learn NOTHING from the launch of ARR and its 18 hour log in q's??? It is absolutely absurd, that anyone would give SE a free pass like this. This is not a "new" thing.

Yep.

Even if you get past Raubahn there's another solo duty shortly afterwards. I can't speak for how many there are beyond that but I imagine there's quite a few.

In less than an hour it will have officially been an entire day where this issue has existed. Some people have stubbornly tried to advance for most of that period. Others, such as myself have gone away and returned later in the hope that things will have improved only to find that nothing has changed.

It's also the weekend - a time where most people have extra free time so things aren't going to be smooth until at least Monday if this keeps up.

Don't be so harsh guys, it's not like they knew how many preorders they took, nor could they expect that people who pre-ordered would actually play the game at early access.

Took me 23 hours to get past Cold Steel and In Crimson combined. Just confirmation we are still leaking through...emphasis on leak.

the wave will pass in 1 day or 2 depends on how ridiculously over populated your server is.

our server had a "line"... a freaking "line up here for your turn" line to do the MSQ... but it was gone after 1 hour and I didn't even need to try to get it.

the fight itself is way too long... that's prob what is taking up the DF server. should make it shorter... and let everyone in and out fast.

Easier solution, flag the quest as completed so everybody can move on. Post what the story said or post a video to watch, lore fixed, situation fixed, we move on. its time for serious solutions, there is still a huge mass of people at the quest spots stuck hours after they released a "fix" to allow more people. This is at 3:30 AM and there are hundreds waiting on my server alone. How bad is it going to be when the sun comes up? Write an SQL script to flag the quest completed so we can more on, please!

You do know that on the 20th more people will log in that will try to do this? So how exactly will waiting help us? Also if most of us will wait we will just be in the same situation again. If they do not change anything about this we will be going at this for days. This is not a bug, this is not a "oh sorry servers crashed please wait for 3 hours", this is something that might take days. And its something that should not even happen if they had thought about it? Why make a solo instance at the start of an expansion? And lets not forget that quite some other stuff is also not doable thanks to the instances being full.

I feel like with today's technology, gaining access to this info should not be this hard. I have been at this for over 20 hours now. A simple queue system for solo instances so people could have a place in line and do other things at the same time would have went a long way at reducing frustration. I really felt like they did not properly prepare for this.

People are justifiably angry and there are no words that can describe my disappointment as a paying customer.

It should be common practice to assume the worst possible situation and properly prepare for it.

Some people took time off from work just for this.

For me there is literally no other content I want to do at the moment. I was expecting a weekend of progression and leveling with my FC. I already have all the classes I am planning on playing in SB at 60. MSQ are enough to get to 70 one class it seems with side quests being great for additional classes. For some of us, there is effectively no other content. We want to progress and not being able to just kills our will to play.

So much salt for a problem that isn't new to FFXIV. Like you had to know that this would happen when everyone and their mom could get in on early access. Just praise your god there is an afk kick system implemented. You really don't know how much it sucks sitting in que when there is no afk kick system like in the old days of ARR.

I am of the opinion that the salt is more justified due to how this isn't new, meaning they should have been better prepared for this like having a solo instance queueing system.

Would that fix the issue though? If everyone has their own individual instance, wouldn't that take up just as much if not more resources?

It's been two years since Heavensward. Most people in my medium-sized midcore FC haven't been around that long. And for a lot of us this is our first MMO. So plenty of us didn't know.

But you just made a great case that Square-Enix would know about the problem beforehand, and thus had adequate time to arrange temporary extra resources.

I agree with others that a problem like this cannot be solved in the short term without being gouged by capacity providers, making possibly legally questionable last-minute arrangements, or even acquiring a large value of equipment that will go to waste once the problem died down. A surge-type problem heavily punishes unpreparedness. But the unpreparedness is not to be excused.

All I know is this.... it has been more than 24hrs... and the expansion is STILL gated too me.....

I can't access any new zones beyond the 2 starter zones.... in both zones, only 25% of the map is playable. You don't have access to the rest.
I have no access to Primal battles.
I have no access to any new dungeons.
I can't Fly
I can't Dive under any water
I can't spear fish
The ONLY thing I can do is doing OLD content that already existed on a game I already owned. Oh sure.... I can lvl Rdm and Sam... again in old content
Or I can't just sit in the small new map space and just grind Fates... That's not fun to me.

HW was not like this...
And I do not care how ARR was.... these problems were supposed to have been fixed. This is 4 years later. W/E happened in ARR should not be a defense now!

It just seems like SUCH a stupid move to GATE all the expansion content at the START of the expansion!!! Everyone is doing the same things, and everyone will bottleneck. There is nothing else to do but MSQ and Fates!!
Hell if you waited till AFTER at least a few dungeons were unlocked, and other content was unlocked, it would have increased the chance that people would be doing different things. This is just dumb!

This "solo instance congestion" has been a problem for ARR, HW, and now SB. Though never like THIS... how could they have not seen this coming? How was it a surprise?

at this point I would GLADLY be happy with just being able to SKIP THESE MISSIONS, so so I can get on with the content I just purchased! If it's SUCH a problem... LET ME SKIP IT, till you fix it!!

If Yoshi was REALLY sorry, they would have actually done something... implement a queue or just freaking flag it done at this point or even make the mobs health so tiny you faceroll it so people finish with quicker. Instead they tell us to try later? What the heck is that? This hasn't helped me over 24 hours later. This was a HUGE waste of time for many people.

A good question: Has anyone succeeded in getting through this quest in the last 24 hours?

I want a second apology, telling me to CALM DOWN!

We don't need apologies, we don't want them. We want this situation resolved yesterday, F2P mmos with tiny budgets and a 2 man team doing a crappy job would've done something about it already.

People are acting like they're not trying to fix it. In the apology he states they're working on a fix. Yeah, its taking a long time, and its super frustrating, but its not like they're just effing us off. To be honest, "wait and try later" is honestly the best thing to do since we know they're trying to sort it out, even if it is taking a long time. I mean, you can stand in a line, have fun doing something else, or mash Raubahn into paste trying to get in. Or, you can come here and join the established chorus of negativity. That seems the least fun to me, but to each their own. Besides, you know they'll compensate the hell out of us for this. I mean, they mailed me dyes years ago that I never lost just because a small handful of people did. I got game time when the game was down. They will definitely take care of us, don't worry. ^_^

my only complaint is that they are throttling it so bad that hardly anyone is getting through and, well, its only going to get worse. Once it SB launches on tuesday it's going to be 10x worse than it is now and then what? All of us early access players are STILL going to be stuck trying to do these instance missions. they better solve the problem fast otherwise there will be more outrage

Why on earth would you gate the entire expansion beyond quests that eeeeeeevryone must do, that eeeeeeeeeeveryone is doing the moment they access the new area, that eeeeeeeveryone will obviously do at the same time, So early on upon reaching the new area, when your servers cannot handle the rush of players at the same time in a single player instance????????\

WHY would you have the solo instances SO early without content to filter people out along the way?

They should have had such solo MSQ instances AFTER everyone opened both new regions, unlocked the ability to search for all air currents, access to primal battles, access to all gathering nodes, and such. THEN there would be no bottle neck. Because people would have been spread out! This is completely a self inflicted wound, because they designed such a thing BEFORE thousands of players could spread out...

An apology means nothing if they can't fix the problem.

I could accept the apology if it was one that promised something was being done. As it stands, they just seem to be shrugging apathetically and waiting for the problem to fix itself.

No real excuse for this when you consider the early access launch was entirely preorders so it isn't like they didn't know how many were going to be waiting from the get-go. Grade school mathematics would have told the server capacity vs. exceptions. Instead of reinforcing the infrastructure, SE chose to do pretty much nothing and now over 24 hours later, the servers are still melting down. Heaven help us when SB goes live and we have more people thrown on top of that.

You will, come Monday. There's no way this launch would have gone over 100% smoothly over the weekend. There's just too many people to handle.

You could have leveled in the meantime, since in HW the MSQ would only get you to around Level 55/56. Spend the time bridging that gap, like I did. And yes, the story is one of the main features for me too, but I expected something like this from the start. Because many people don't understand that spamming something is like DDosing a server and it only makes everything worse.

This is completely, 100% spot on and I've been saying it in the FC as well. But then you'll always get the fanboys who say "This is normal launch stuff". No, the "launch stuff" is a direct result, a cause, of bad design.

This wouldn't be happening if two bottlenecks had not been implement in the first hours of the game.
