Aren't the padjal not playable because they're a special kind of hyur and are too few in number due to their rarity in the twelveswood to be playable? It'd be great if they were a third playable hyur clan though. ^^

Playable Raya-O would have been perfect for me. I'd make room for her on my roster in an instant.
Padjal are even rarer than male miqo'tes are, and with even fewer ever actually stepping out of the Gridanian area. And one of those only does it if you finish the lvl 60 WHM quest. You'd sooner get both the wolfs AND Viera before they are ever made playable.
Padjal are midlanders born from normal midlander families, elemental Gabriel makes them what they are.
From the lore book:
So basically, unless people are perfectly happy with breaking/disregarding the lore, Padjal will never, ever be playable ever. No matter how much players beg SE to make them playable (Viera and Wolfmen have a way higher chance).Quote:
The youthful and long-lived Padjal are not a race unto themselves, but rather are born rarely into certain Hyur families in the Twelveswood, the process of ageing slowing to a crawl as they approach puberty. Naturally attuned to the whispers of the forest, these horned, childlike beings serve as a living link between man and elemental. The Padjal have a long history as the region's healers and protectors and as the chosen of the elementals are sanctioned in the use of White Magic.
Padjal are not a race.
As a race you have to be born as that, not be turned in that after you was born. Padjals are Hyurs, who got turned to Padjals by the Elementals.
The only way to make them playable would be a special quest only available to Hyurs, where you have to convince the Elementals to turn you into a Padjal.
That looks like wolf masks to me. Looks rather silly if its a race, human everything except the mask-like head?
Their tails are moving, so I guess is not a suit or something, but the fact they all look ugly and literally the same makes me think that it will only be a new beast tribe and nothing more.
I'm sure that was just a mask.
Niiccce! I like it and I want it ;3
They looks a bit too human for me,take off that wolf head, put a miquote head, and thats it you got that "new race".
Those must be some gravity defying fake tails, then. Not even the very fluffy fake tail of the Wolfliege gear moves.
They're most likely going to simply be called 'werewolves' and be a FFV reference. Kelger being the leader, Quelb being their town/village and maybe have some ties to the Students of Baldesion. Maybe former students who really messed up a spell.
Puppy! I want a dog bro as a party member!
Since these are based on one of the rejected Viau'ra concepts that they showed off, think it's possible that they've made use of some of the others too?
I just want to one day meet the legendary Viangaa
Would rather have the Viera or hyur with fox ears/tail.
How would another lalafell like race with fox ears and tails work out? :D
Hope we get to see in full how that new wolf race/beast tribes looks. ^^
Well after all that arguing back and forth...
I want them to be playable. I've always liked playing as the more animal-type races in games.
They'll probably never be a playable race though. The number of players who would play them vastly under-number the players who would. It would be a waste of time and resources.
They were designed initially to be a playable race. But SE went with Au Ra instead. Now they happen to show up in game. Who knows how far along they were in creation. People BARELY play female Roe... but they are there. I don't even know if SE makes that kinda choice based on how many people will play that race or not.
