Colored Cactuar, yes please.
You guys realize that the OP suggests replacing the proposed "special mount" reward for those that pay from December to 2.0 with colored chocobos instead - not just simply adding colored chocobos...
Colored chocobos are basically a given in 2.0 and the future of chocobo breeding regardless of whether or not we get a "special mount" for these months of payment. You want to waste the opportunity for something like a "special mount" to receive something that's guaranteed to be out in time?
Honestly, I'd prefer having something that will never be available again than just getting something early.
I wasn't proposing anything. Only pointing out that having monster mounts doesn't have a FF feel. Don't really care what they are gona give to ppl who stay and pay.
I just wish they'd stay more with the franchise and less with the other mmos. Most mmos have the random monster mounts. FFXIV could have the ultra customizable chocobo system and give some special something to the ppl who stick.
IMHO i think they are just giving monster mounts to make sure some ppl will stay when they start charging. Because that's the quickest thing they could think of and knew it would please the other mmo crowd. I'm probably right on this one.
(My opinion)(^_~)
Oh Sakaguchi... where are you !?
I made a similar Quote about this exact thing in one of the other Mount Forums and I 100% agree with you.

I support this thread !
The word 'instead' is what drew the most attention outta meh :P
I'm still not so big on the idea that if it hasn't been done in Final Fantasy before, doing so now would make it a 'copy' of everything not Final Fantasy. It limits creative growth. Dragoon never fought with a dragon it couldn't ride before, but look how much love XI's wyvern got even though it made the class so awkward it wasn't until many retroactive version updates past the job's introduction that it actually got any respect.
That said, Square Enix hands out goofy shit all the time to people who give them money. Hell, remember last week when I was saying, "When's the last time you saw a HARPSICHORD!?" as evidence that some things really are limited-time? Guess what they announced as the in-game bonus item for buying their new soundtrack as if to backhand me for that comment! It's back from 2004! lol
Like everything I assume the idea of change will polarize the community - but, as I tend to fall on the logical side of things, I don't think it'll break the lore if when times get tough, we get tougher, and the survivors of the calamity train some monsters to survive. Doesn't make it World of Final Fantacraft, imho.

Meanwhile, in a perfect world where the most logical aspect of everyone's
argument actually counted for something...

I thought Yoshida was trying to capture the FF feel!
Chocobos are to FF as Peanut butter is to Jelly!
But seriously this time...
I wish Yoshida would really consider about the versatility of chocobos and how to apply them to FFXIV.
It would feel a lot more like a Final Fantasy with chocobos primarily because they, like moogles, have become an icon of the Final Fantasy name.
Having a Gobbue, Ahirman, and Drake mount feels just so... weird and out of place?
I realize that a dragon mount isn't new to Final Fantasy because Kuja had one, but then again... Dragon and Drake are two different beasts.
I'm just saying, I'd like there to be some relevance to the mounts Yoshdia picks rather than seemingly pull them out of the ether. If he is trying to recapture the FF feel as he had stated before then he needs to stick to the FF lore. He needs to consult the FF lore first before looking for outside help.
As far as drakes go, the Amalj'aa already ride them. I don't recall anybody complaining about non-chocobos being used as mounts when the Operation: Pulling Fangs storyline made that pretty clear. Why can't I sit on that same saddle as a lalafell? Racism, says I! Racism!
"Oh, put it back in the deck, Moose."
YOU PUT IT BACK IN THE DECK! LALAFELL POWER!
/is dragged off squeaking like an angry rodent
LALAFELL POWERRR!!!!
My thoughts exactly. It doesn't make any sense to limit Final Fantasy to only things that the franchise has done previously, and it has never limited itself this way in the past.
New creative additions are just as important as old nostalgic traditions when it comes to preserving the Final Fantasy name.
Dual saddle for Chocobos!!!
I agree with this. As this was about a gift to players for loyalty, I think the colored chocobo should not be the reward. Colored chocobos should be part of the game for every player, not just for those of us who stay on till 2.0. Armor for all your mounts, current and future, that would be a great reward. And I'm cool with the mob mounts as well, although riding a Gobbue... meh. A Peiste would be cool tho! Or a Boar! Or to be funny a Giant Crab! I have a feeling I would love to ride a Giant Crab into battle lol. But only if they make it walk sideways! And lastly to anyone who wants a Purple Choco, I'm with ya, I want one too!
ANYTHING but monster mounts for the love of god
FFXIII had different species of Chocobo. The gran pulse versions were really awesome. They should make a comeback in FFXIV instead of stupid ahriman and whatever else stupid monster got the go-ahead from the dev team
Pretty sure nothing quite has the full go-ahead yet. Those were merely test ideas for special mounts.
Because for each "different" chocobo piece, you increase the amount of resources used by the system on top of having used resources required to give each piece of armor different looks based on the shape and size of a model they're being applied to.
Why make them breedable? what would it acomplish? This isn't really a farmsville, and its not a single-player game either, you'd hardly have anything but another thing to pointlessly gain EXP in.
I'm all up for different colors, but different sized limbs and breeding options seem just like a waste of time considering its just a means to getting from point A to point B faster.
Whoa now, some people like to think more of their chocobo than some kind of soulless transport slave.
More relevantly, though, it's more than getting from A to B, since they will also be equippable and combat capable soon, as well as possible being able to carry items and other uses.
Customizing chocobos through breeding wouldn't just affect their physical appearance, but also their abilities and stats, which would affect transport and combat alike. Not to mention how cool it is to have a chocobo personally tailored to your tastes, and uniquely different than your friend's chocobo, etc.
Umm did you ever play or know anyone who played XI? They had breeding in there and the way you bred your chocobo determined a LOT of these above aspects. So unfortunately, you'll need to come up with another synopsis as to why this shouldn't be done. Oh and btw, there was no XP for you while breeding; it was basically a very intense and challenging mini-game.
Pft. Why destroy the FF lore for that feature? Different colored chocobos always had things others couldn't do. I do agree with you partially but I think there should be a the rare colors who have access to abilities that other do not. Such as making Black and Gold and some other colors ultra rare and give them special abilities that others do not have. Personally I would love to raise Chocobo and sell them and then like crafting have a super rare chance to get that HQ mount.
I say bring in the special goobbue mount for a dedication reward im a Huge fan of various monster mounts. I do love chocobos and think we should have diff colors to have fun with/breed but I would also love the monster mounts specifically the goobbue ^^
I require a Donkey mount.... forget purple choco's and rainbow fish
Some people can consider it all they want, I'm sure at least one person here has a Chocobo as a religion, opinions are different from fact, Also that "soon" is more than a year from now, and you don't need breeding for different stats, that's what the armor is for bro, you don't breed you a new lallafell every time you want stronger stats, do you?
Umm, did you ever play God of War? They don't have chocobos there at all!
See? I can call out different products as well, XI is not XIV, it's not the same engine, it's not the same game, and though this has gotten my post deleted on more than numerous accounts, I won't stop saying it to people that like to call out names, You are free to leave and play XI right now if you want to, nobody is holding you back. as for "needing a new synopsis" how in the HELL, does "its difficult on the system resources" relate to "a different game does it differently durr" or even contradict it to that matter to where i should consider another "synopsis"
Forget the monster mounts. If I want all the sillyness that comes with that I'll go resub to WoW. I want to play FINAL FANTASY. The standard means of transportation are ships, airships, chocobos, and various mechanical devices. Not random monsters that appear in the world.
This is incorrect. There is no lore in XIV that says different colours mean different abilities, and it has not been this way in every Final Fantasy game. Check out FFXI sometime.
I don't think it would be very fun to feel like I need to breed and ride a red chocobo to accomplish something when I favour green, so I do hope if they add abilities they don't make them colour specific. I would like to customize my chocobo to be exactly how I like.
Can't we have both? ._.
I don't know about breeding, but raising is coming.
They aren't just a means to getting from point A to point B faster, they are battle buddies too.Quote:

You don't know what an excuse is, do you? I'm not excusing myself because i'm not wrong, it's the rest of you that want to turn this game into World of mobile farm cape fetish simulator online that are wrong, and their opinion isn't contrary, its wrong, it strengthens my argument by the simple fact I'm not playing WOW, or XI, Grand Fantasia or White Knight Chronicles, I'm playing FFXIV, and apparently I'm the only one doing so, since i'm the only one that want's this game improved, not converted, so I'm more qualified to comment than the rest of you people with your head buried in XI and WOW.
Just FYI, You might want to read the definition of "Unhappy"
How about both types of mounts.
If I had to guess, that's how it will end up, both coexisting in the game. Monster mounts for riding/show and chocobos for riding, raising, fighting...
Unhappy (adj) - Not satisfied; displeased or discontented
Zeref is unhappy.
I'm all for mob mounts as long as it makes sense in the context of the game. Maybe if we hatch them and train them to become mounts or enchant a spell on them.
Maybe colored chocobos will perform different feats?
Black = flying?
Would definitely be better than pimp my chocobo. You guys and your aesthetics...god I hate you all.
Some people love endless customization and if would probably have a chocobo of a different color every day. I'm more of a function over fashion type of person. Is my armor mismatched in color? Sure, but whatever. Others cringe at my fashion faux pas.
Yes, Zeref is irritated and unhappy. And quite probably a few other similar adjectives. They all adequately describe the tone of your post. What's your point? You were still rude.
No I wasn't, Calling you an incomprehensive retard would be rude, I was being honest, honesty hurts, you people seem to be quite content with ruining this game with clutter and pointless features, and than are just going to move on to a different game when there is nothing good left here, you're locust, plain and simple, and that's the truth. if it hurts, tough.
Honestly, I'd prefer not to have a bunch of different mounts just because that's my personal preference. But if that's the general consensus then I guess it's fair enough to have as an option. Attempting to passively insult someone for having a different opinion than your own isn't really going to get you anywhere.
A lot of player-suggested features around here have been pretty good imo, more so than the bad ones and they generally get shot down pretty quick.
This just isn't that big of a deal really. If we were getting flying mounts I'd be disappointed because I'm really not a fan of those, but this seems just fine to me. Just please don't let them into the cities!
