Not Steam, unless it also ran on PSN at the same time. Mog Station fine.

The other problem with telling people in countries outside the named ones to wait and see is that if they do, and the other countries' offers are worse than the UK's, they'll miss the first issue of Gamesmaster and lose access to the mount and first batch of rewards. This staggered rollout and region locking of the US/JP/EU codes has been the worst part of the campaign to date and now the EU codes are finally here they're still withholding the information some people need to make a decision. It's annoying.
Please also remember that a lot of Europeans playing this game don't speak every single language in Europe. Participating in, say, the French campaign might be harder for them than the UK or Australian campaigns (or vice versa).
Some people dont even speak or read english! this is an eu campaign set in the UK but not everyone can understand the language... so we are forced to buy a magazine we cannot even read if we even wanted too LOL come on thats just spiteful
To compare with JP promotion, any soft drink that sold out don't lead producers to be afraid to produce more, especially for drinks you can keep in store for a few month, but a magazine, they always plan short productions and are very carefull to reprint in case of sold out. That's a great difference.
If it was at least possible with digital versions it would have been fine (not really, but better anyway) but it is printed versions only.
Why on earth anyone in the marketing department thought that people would be happy getting their codes over 3 months... let alone the final hoop of sending a photo I don't know. I get that you're trying to verify the purchase but this was a stupid idea, I don't want to send a personal photo of myself to any organisation...
This is 2016, how many people buy physical magazines these days? Why over 3 months when NA and JP regions didn't have that restriction?
I suggest everyone impacted contact SE in as many ways as possible. This is horribly unfair.
It's amazing how they always find something for getting their players upset.
Japan: 7-Eleven - Widely known company, heavily accessible, as 7-Eleven is everywhere in Japan. Great promotional reach. Product required to obtain the promo codes is reasonable - water is a popular product in Japan.
North America - Amazon. Widely known company, heavily accessible as most North Americans have an Internet connection. Great promotional reach. Amazon offers loads of items to buy and you had to spend 20$ to get the codes.
Europe - GamesMaster Magazine - Completely unknown game magazine in most of Europe. Severely restricted access. Time gated by 3 months and has an extra step requiring you to take a picture of the codes to get the mount. Awful promotional reach. Most of Europe has never even heard of this magazine. And the campaign isn't even covering Europe as a whole.
I'm starting to wonder if you're the one not understanding what a promotion is...
As an Australian player, the fact that we'd have to wait even longer is ridiculous at this point. If it wouldn't be so expensive I might have sucked it up and bought the magazines if I was actually interested, but frankly, they'd likely be used to replace my bog roll 'cause I don't give a damn about the content. I'd rather not pay $45ish AUD, given that the NA promotion cost a minimum of $20USD for something the buyer actually cared about.
As a side-note though, the fact that you need to send them a photo of yourself with the codes is a stupid idea. There's nothing about who ownership of the photos would belong to after being sent. I personally would not be happy with a company I've never heard of having a photo of me, even if i obscured my face, and using it without my permission. There are easier ways of verifying identity anyway.
If the AU promotion ends up being anything like this, I'd be unlikely to participate, no matter how much I want the Chocobo and maid's attire.
Maybe because it's accessible? I did say already that a promotion, to be successful, has to be accessible. As it is, it's not, making it unfair for a good amount of players.
Yes it's a promotion, but a very bad one, because of said reasons I mentioned twice.
PS: Yes I heard the amazon promotion was exploited...but the real question is, how could Amazon be exploited to begin with? Couldn't they have fixed it somehow?
I honestly can't even blame the people for exploiting stuff (like housing in this game), because they actually found a flaw in the system, a flaw that should be fixed by the owners. Sure it's bad, but it's not their fault if the system was flawed to begin with.
It's like with glitches: do you feel bad for using them for winning a fight in a game? Sure you do, but it's not your fault if your game is buggy!
mirta000 is allowed to have his/her opinion like everyone else.
Community reps, please leave a message in this thread to acknowledge that people's opinions on this farce have been noticed. Even should it lead to nothing, it does help.
Regarding the whole send in a photo at the end... why can't the mogstation simply see we've added the 3 codes to our EU account and just automatically add/send the chocobo mount? Why the need for actual humans to get involved in verifying/sending out codes manually as well as the whole privacy issues with what happens to the photos afterwards?
Assuming they actually print enough magazines for us to get them...
What promotion? This is a demotion campaign...
So could I, as someone that lives in the US, have gotten the codes from the Amazon promotion and given it to someone in EU? Would that have been possible?
Nah, the Amazon codes were locked to NA only.
It's technically a promotion in the sense of the word, but a horrid one that benefits noone interested in getting the items, and objectively worse than every other promotion for the same items.
But wait a few minutes, we still need to hear "lolz guis is a promosins, ur dumb" another twenty times or so to 'prove their point'(?) .
Ideally would be good for a rep to step in and at least let us become aware that the public outcry on this promotion is being heard by someone.... anyone of higher authority. Surely this cant be the last result to get these items... come on S.E we are good people we pay our sub WE are the reason YOU are in your successful position right now... dont forget the fans Yoshi... http://i.imgur.com/LJPIiKQ.jpg
I saw the bit about the photo, someone actually volunteered for me for the 'selfie' as i've never been comfortable sending photos of myself to people I've never met before... I'm finding this who thing very disappointing. Is that really all they could come up with as a promotion?
Some of NA did get screwed just so you know :/
The Canadian part of NA.
They only had the promotion on amazon.com so I ended up paying $15 more in shipping, import tax, and exchange rate to get my items. So I paid $15 extra just because couldn't buy from amazon.ca
So technically to get my items, since Canadian, I spent $35 instead of $20. It was a very small item too.
I had purchased my item to get the codes (and received my codes in e-mail) before they added game time cards since they added them like 15 hours after the promotion started so I couldn't morally cancel.
Even though Canadians kinda got shafted depending on what you ordered; I still think the EU one was a bad idea. A magazine purchase isn't too bad but WHY do they force you to send in a picture? That's messed up and I definitely would not do it. I hope they don't force you to show your face cause that is a pretty big invasion of privacy otherwise. If it just needs to be a picture of the codes it isn't too bad but the 3 month wait is just unfair :/
Thankyou again Square Enix for making it clear we are not valued as a player base over here in the EU.
Not only do we have the injustice of being made to wait so much longer than many of the other regions, we have to participate in this drawn-out BS.
Not only do we have to pay £15 for the privilege of buying the Maid issue of this crappy magazine, we then have to buy the previous 2 issues and send photo's of ourselves with the codes (?!?!) to get a Chcocobo mount.
Not only do we have to pay almost twice as much cost as America did with their Amazon campaign, we don't even get the bonus of being able to buy ourselves a nice treat in order to be eligible for the codes.
We just get 3 magazines that are probably just about good enough for me to line my cats litter tray with.
Had this campaign been announced 2 months prior, we could have paid the £15. Instead we are now expected to pay closer to £25, a similar price to the HW Expansion...
Nah. I'm good.
That is really off-limits and very disappointing. Comparing the events in NA as well as Japan it is a big joke and absolutely digusting to force your client/player to take a selfie with these magazins. I was looking forward to the maid costume for so long now and recently i start to dislike people with these promo items. It feels like a punch in your face, thanks to SE. Do it another way or make it possible to buy in the cash shop. I bet a lot would buy it even it's 30 € or $, whichever currency. I am so dissappointed.
Nice! I was actually looking for that picture myself. Never forget the fans indeed.
I sometimes feel they completely forgot about that list (regarding many aspects of the game). Maybe it's time to bring it back and go through what each of those points actually mean, but I digress...
I agree with the anger and annoyance over this campaign, I'm originally from the UK, so you guys have my sympathy. Quite apart from anything else, in this day and age, paper magazines are literally a dead medium, so why choose that instead of a retailer tie-in with a EU based retailer that operates across EU such as...say... Amazon.
Perhaps someone in the EU marketing team at SE knows folks at GamesMaster's publisher...? Stranger things have happened.
P.S. GamesMaster magazine has a circulation of less than 18,000 according to Wiki, though that is dated 2013, and I would imagine that the number has shrunk further still since then. SE, why the hell did you choose such a poor and non-inclusive marketing tie-in for this campaign when you went with universally accessible Amazon.com for the US?
Actually, it's a really poor campaign for the UK as well given the truly crap circulation of GamesMaster magazine. I'm fairly sure that the magazine would sell out before all in the UK wanting to take advantage of the offer were able to.
Just wanted to add that this isn't the first time we in the EU have been treated rather unfairly in this regard. Might I remind everyone that the Heavensward Collector's Edition cost about 40% more in Europe even after all applicable taxes were taken into account for the NA version.
We never got a response to the rather epic thread over that farce. I somehow doubt we'll hear anything about this one either unfortunately...
I know this doesn't help make this situation any better, but regarding the 'selfie' portion of the promotion, I would think it would be possible to send in a picture of the three magazines alongside a piece of paper that has the email you will be using written on it. This will still confirm identity and purchase proof without needing to send them a picture of yourself, for those who are camera shy or skeptical about sending in a picture of your face. Overall that's all the photo is for - confirming you've purchased all three magazine issues. I don't think they'll be too picky about what the picture actually includes, as long as they can confirm identity....worth a try.
personally i would have rathered paying a reasonable amount for all the items on the mogstation. im australian and i would have been happy to pay AU$40ish for the bundle. i have no interest in the mags that they come with
I have to post here to express my disappointment with Square Enix with this promotion. (and the person(s) in your company who signed off on this idea)
You are making EU subscribers wait longer (months), pay more (forcing purchases/shipping payment x3 times) and they get their privacy invaded too (photo really?).
In comparison vs the NA/JP accounts this is really unfair to your EU account subscribers. Please reflect on this Square Enix.
<slow claps for SE> you’ve outdone yourself this time.
http://gif-finder.com/wp-content/upl...doing-that.gif
I feel bad for EU, SE really need to stop with all these promotional in game items and just mogstation everything worldwide... Or better yet put bonus items back to special seasonal/holiday quest in game, not like we get very many of those anymore it seems.
After all these years of being shafted as a gamer in the EU, you'd think you'd get used to it. But nope, stuff like this still manages to get me angry everytime. It sucks.
I tried to write a big post about how I'm disappointed about this, I set aside some very valid and objective points as to why this is wrong and can't even post it due to the forum's 1000 character limit. Now my hand hurts. So yeah. I can't even express my concerns on this properly.
How is it possible that the marketing department of a company like Square Enix approves of such a sad excuse of a promotion and nobody spoke up and said "Guys, I think there might be some uproar if we do it like that"...
Well seems like we EU players are really being valued by SE.
