Just one think to add : don't make the confusion between a language and a country.
French is an international language spoken in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada (Quebec), many countries from Africa, etc.

In 2050, 85% of the French speakers will be located in Africa and they will be almost 700 millions (!).

France has 65 millions inhabitants.

The fact that they spoke French does not talk for their nationality, sorry.

As for communicating, I will tell you this, I never seen an English speaking person make an effort to speak french or german or try to make an effort when they had someone that was playing in a duty on an Englishspeaking server that didnt know another language other then portuguese, I saw the worst attitude ever from English speaking people that deameaned that person without regards...to a point I left the place, I did speak português I do speak it, write it and read it, on top of french german and English...so yeah I am in a position to be able to tell if someone is a complete jerk.. all I want to know in here is...can you show us what was said exactly ? besides, you were in an inferior numericaly speaking so yeah, maybe there is somethign to say there too, dont you think ?

@OP: Chat is not necessary in nonraid zones, and even if you want to chat across cultural/language barrels, you and they choose not to use auto translate, which puts you both partially at fault.

Let me sum up would you?

You came here with a screencap which was irrelevant to the topic (the OP issue already found a solution at this point) and with a theory about FR people, "when it comes to being rude, they take the cake by a long shot".

People provided you with enough examples to prove that you are biaised.

When i did show you actual facts, you stated that "this is not about the worlds population numbers".

But indeed it is: you sustain that speaking French = being French, whereas only 25% of French speakers are actually French. (Facts).

You think that only EU players are on EU servers, which is wrong (i have friends from Qatar on Moogle. I wish Qatar was in the EU so we could have some economic growth).

Also "narrow minded" is not an insult afaik and yes, you look to be. Especially when you refuse to take actual figures into consideration just because they are against your theory.

Ow, i did look at the screenshot, which had 1 DPS mention “Courir” and the tank mentioning “Sale merde :)”. But, that’s it. Other than that, i only see improper behaviour.

Let’s face is, based on the comments you made in that particular post and later posts, you do seem to have an issue with French players for some reason. Otherwise you wouldn’t be saying things like:

There are no facts that most of the bad or rude players are french. That’s just a fabrication based on the opinions of others. And you’re right, this is not about you but we do feel that you base your replies on the wrong kind of arguments.

Have you ever considered that the “us” you were referring to, are simply individuals who are judgemental towards the French? Our skills, attitude and willingness to cooperate with others to improve these said traits is what defines someone as a “good” player. Not where they are from or what language they speak.

If a player can only resort to insults or childish behaviour, then they are simply rude. Nothing more. You can either ignore them or report them, but don’t lower yourself to their level and try to counter with (passive) aggressive behaviour yourself (even though the situation sometimes demands it). It will only escalate the issue further.

There are no real winners in a fight.

Well, truth be told... I’m happy that we can have a discussion like this on the forum, because it means that this is an issue we are currently being confronted with. By posting about it in the General Discussion forum section, we can make these issues known and talk with one another about it.

Since this is a community related issue, only we (as part of the said community) can actually do something about it. That being said, we can’t solve things by simply pointing our fingers towards something or someone.

We can only solve it if we act upon them as part of a community. A healthy community is a community that can support its fellow members and work together in order to keep it healthy and active.

With the introduction of the Duty Finder, this has become an incredibly difficult task since the DF removed the “need” for social bonds to be formed in order to tackle content. The chance that you will meet up with the same people again is rather slim, which will give people the opportunity to behave like jerks and get away with it.

But, if you look closely, there are groups of people who come up with community run events, which attract the attention from the people around them. This is but a small thing that makes people group together and do things with each other, rather than jumping at each other's throats because they weren’t performing their class at their optimal performance.

We can’t fix someone else's attitude, but we can find friendly / like minded people to work with. Not against.

One way of doing that is to add content which will not be placed within the DF, but can still be fun to do with a group. For example the “treasure hunter dungeon” Maps they are planning to release in Patch 3.3 (which may reveal an entrance to a dungeon instead of a chest). Poppable NM’s. Or maybe a reintroduction of “Hamlet Defense” / “Beastmen camp invasions”.

All I said is that a ton of people here had the same theory, and you seemed to have taken it out on me for whatever reason. Also no, I'm far from being narrow minded. And yeah, it's not about numbers. Lol. In fact, none of what you said is relevant, maybe what I said isn't either, but I was talking from my experience, and my experience dictates that the majority of rude players have always been French, which doesn't mean that the majority of the French population is rude.

You have a different experience than mine. This is normal and I respect this.

But you are saying that "all that I said is irrelevant" which seems to be a bit extreme in a discussion.

I gave actual facts, like speaking French =/= being French. How is that irrelevant, when France is only 25% of the French speaking world?

This is based on real things and that seems irrelevant to you, right.

But you, you just shared feelings based on nothing but your own experience, and biaised statements such has "the majority of rude players are French" (above) based on nothing, so im not sure that you are the right person to decide what is relevant or not.

Yeah, based on my experienced it is, and I'd be lying if I didn't tell you that pretty much every FC I've been in I've always encountered a group of people that disliked them. Now, I do NOT dislike anyone based on their nationality, that'd be absurd, but these experiences aren't limited to me. Again, I'm part of a controversial community as well nationality-wise, and I try to avoid them at all costs. So I'm not biased, since I don't even have anything against the French, the Germans, the Italians, or the Americans. I can't be biased even if I wanted to; I hold nothing against any one of them.

Let me tell you though, that you implied that people whose only language is English are prone to be narrow minded, and not too smart. And that is something you did, while accusing me of doing the same even though I didn't.

I'm one of those people who try to speak to the others via whatever tool is at hand, and if I find a French/German/Japanese player who doesn't speak English, I'll do my best to communicate with them via the auto-translator. FFXI taught me that, and it's amazing to be able to play with people from around the world. You are very mistaken about me, as I pointed out more than just once.

So far, you've also been extremely rude and judgemental.

You don't even really need a swap there in Normal anyway as long as the healers aren't asleep. :x
