We're about to find out with this new patch. In any case, from one of the articles I read on another thread it seems they won't actually be "charging" us until probably sometime around mid-January.

The saying goes "you get what you pay for" and if we keep paying nothing thats exactly what we are going to get.


And on that note, I hope that if SE decides to reward us with gear or gil or shiney new toys for sticking with them through the good and the bad with xiv, they exclude those who jump ship when they start charging.

I honestly haven't played the game in like 3 or more months because I had to sell my PC due to personal finance issues. Yah I was able to log in briefly at a friends house to post heh. Anyway, from everything i've seen and read so far, even tho I cannot play actively, I will still be supporting FFXIV as I believe in Yoshida and his dev team and all the amazing work they've done to turn this game around so far and all of the future work they will be doing. I mean this game was garbage when it first came out and would have been probably dead or in some unknown direction had Tanaka stayed as the producer. When I finally do get a PC I cannot wait to play the game and see all the handy work they've done since I been gone. Thanks guys! :)

We've been playing a live game since Sept. 21 2010.

A live game getting updates, patches, improvements and changes =/= Beta. If they were the same, then most every live MMO out there would be a "paid Beta", even years after they launch as most every live MMO out there gets content updates, bug-fixes, changes, revamps, etc. throughout their lifetime.

You can't test content that isn't there. And as of now, content for 2.0 is not there.

Now there might be a beta for 2.0. Time will tell on that. But if that is the case, when it happens, we will be Beta Testing 2.0 content... Not 1.20-1.2x content.

Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi is where it's at, lolz. I'll probably pick that up tomorrow instead of midnight though, don't feel like dealing with BT3 people at midnight.

Not only am I staying, but I'm also supporting a friend who can't afford to stay as well...

Skyrim is the ultimate RPG in my book. after playin oblivion...

but damm i really want this game to be good But its not its just a fact.. se needs to more Inovative.. but they cant be not until they finish 2.0 then they can add the fun aspect. right now they are rebuilding the base game. HALF PRICE SE at least to keep people interested.

i just preordered swtor, while i have the time to dedicate to both ffxiv and swtor easily... i'm still on a flip of a coin on staying. by december i'll have everything 50 so nothing to do, already have nothing to do really but finish off crafts and of course dungeons ...but they aren't putting out enough in the next year ...they can put all of the years worth out in 2months and i still say not enough. someone youtube the once in a life time story for me lol.

Like I've said before I bought 10,000 crysta the day the game launched and it's been sitting around ever since. I will pay to play when they start charging. I feel I want to support the new Dev team's hard work. I don't fault anyone for stepping away from the game for a while and checking back in at a later time.

I am a little iffy on staying, I love the game all that stuff but paying for the price of a finished mmo? I am not all that thrilled about paying to play a beta. Of course I am not sure if I would be able to join anyway since SE sucks with billing. I remember FFXI, they announced the verified by visa and the very next day after announcing it, they implement it but only for US PC users. the ps2, xbox and everyone else not in the US didn't have to do it. Sucks cause my card expeired and a new one was in the mail so I was unable to update my account. Do you know what it feels like playing a game for like many years only to have the devs kick you out because they changed the billing process? I wanted to pay but they wouldn't let me.
I love their way of fixing the problem they made it sound so easy. Call the support line and we will help you. The tech guy gave me some simple ways of fixing the problem. 1. ask mom and dad to use their credit card (now at the time I think I was 23, I also had a well paying job at the time, right would my parents laugh or cry?) 2. Get a new bank (thats right I am gonna change my bank so that I can play a $12 a month video game, oh yes) 3. get a prepaid credit card. So yeah, I don't like SE.

just ordered my year sub for wow.... yea i payed a year full sevice for that finished game... i should get my FREE diablo 3 when it realeases and i get FREE beta invite to new xpac. why should i pay for this beta again i forgot.

i don't have a wow sub, but the free diablo3 looked tempting to me ..i crunched the numbers but in the end i said na i'll just buy diablo3 when it comes out and try out the new mmo's coming out. i hear good things bout swtor even though it's not a game i can see myself play for long term. will be fun to try out. ....hopefully i won't feel i need to leave this game for the next year but i'm getting more and more to the point that ..that is my only option. still can't believe they are charging already and how many people actually don't mind throwing there money away to corporate toolbags. oh wells.

Hrm... I maybe changing my stance on if I jump ship or not. Hubbie wants to continue playing...that made me grumble...until I started reading some other things saying that some of the changes will be implemented before p2p to at least let us try it out. I think my verdict will hold until then. If I like the changes then I will p2p, even for a half finished game.

I just hope for the love of all things good they fix tanking...because I tell you what...friggen trying to tank on my pug and having my husband play thm....drives me insane! >_<;

Let me start out by saying I don't blame anyone for leaving FFXIV right now and returning to the game around 2.0 - subscriptions taken into account or not. I totally understand.

However, I'll be sticking around to watch the game grow. A few of my friends and I have been playing since alpha and we're all very relieved that our patience is finally going to pay off. For a year we've been telling ourselves (and our friends): "Don't worry, it's crap now but it will get better!" And now, finally, it is! I gotta say, though, it sucks that we'll have to wait another whole year... but we've been patient this long, and I expect this year to go by "quickly" with the patches between now and 2.0.

Also, we'll be getting a closed beta period for 2.0 on the PS3. It says so in SE's official roadmap: http://wdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/dow...Roadmap_EN.pdf

EDIT: I also want to communicate to the DEV team that 2.0 has thoroughly impressed me and that they are 100% moving in the right direction.

Why should we pay them to fix their broken software. It is analogous to a car salesman selling you a lemon and then having the audacity of telling you that he will fix it but it will cost you payments over the next year.

Keep in mind this "car" cost all of us 10's of MILLIONS of dollars collectively. For such a high dollar product they should be fixing it themselves on their own dollar. Also they should give the 31 million back. What a scam. Does this not ERK anyone else. WE WERE HOSED! WE TRUSTED THEIR PRODUCT AND THEY ARE STILL LEECHING MONEY INTO THEIR HUGE BANK ACCOUNTS!

Is almost the mark of what is an MMO is and after 1.20 patch release it will be more near to a standard MMO to be able to charge for subscription. Also those subscription is for the content that will come patch 1.21.

ive had my wow account up for 5-6 years whats one more year.. this game wont be able to replace anything wow offers till least 2.0 so why not is way i looked at it. 200 bucks wont hurt my pockets unless i throw it away on obsolete games.

you meen you hope they fix the 5-6 sec lag inbetween every action stoping you from being on point with threat abiltys? dont count on it till 2.0 lag and crappy gamplay will always be here
