How about, FFXIV: Cataclysm? :D
I keed, I keed...
Okay, here's my questions:
Will the PC version of FFXIV 2.0 have true 64-bit support, or are we gonna continue to be stuck with WoW64? What about DX11 support?

I know new races are coming and I know we'll have a one time remake of our character, as promised.
I would like to make sure we'll be able to re-change our name? Not because I have something to hide, but because I'll be going from miqo female to miqo male. I know its a small question but early notice would be wonderful. I have a name that will not fit a male character. Thanks :D
Thanks for being more transparent with your goals, but, to start charging me for your beta is revolting. I won't bother to log on anymore if it's gonna cost me valuable meal tickets. You will lose a lot of players in an already tiny community come December.
It's funny. I'm not even surprised that the subscriptions are being restarted. I almost expected it even if it's a bad choice. To be real: I'm starting to see SE as a maker of bad choices. You know Stars Wars: The Old Republic releases in December? I will be playing that, Diablo 3, and GW2 until the mythical version 2.0 is functioning. I'm shaking my head right now thinking about how SE is gonna compete with the heavyweights. Did you know GW2 and D3 won't even have monthly fees? All this disappointment and frustration is coming from a longtime FF fan who wants the game to succeed. Imagine what the non-fanboys must think about paying for this game.
Speaking of successful free games, if the plan is to take ideas from other places, learn to make money without charging monthly fees. There are some fine examples to emulate like League of Legends, AoC, or GW.
Take care. See you again! December 2012. Yes, please.
To all the people criticizing SE for the billing - They have financial analysts and modelers there I'm sure that are calculating the NPV totals for them activating the sub system now and how it will help them with the project. With this I'm sure they are also modeling what the player base loss will be. This is basic finance, so I really think SE knows what they are doing here and have planned this to be the sub starting period for awhile. Am I happy? Nah not really, but im sure from a fiscal point of view its what the numbers add up to and say. If starting it now lets them take on this huge project and such, they so be it.
We critiqued Yoshi for not really knowing what to do and seems her was a little magician behind the scenes. Congrats. You definitely just pulled a trump card out from no where with this. Caught my attention.
Will FFXIV 2.0 have more focus on open world or instanced content?
To Yoshida-san:
- With Version 2.0 over a full year+ away, can we expect any high production value (cinematics, original assets), engaging Story Adventures (along the level of a "Chains of Promathea" (プロマシアの呪縛)) while we're waiting for this relaunch? (besides the obvious "last days / apocalypse" ending right before the Version 2.0 / PS3 launch.)
- Will there ever be a Summoner Job in FF XIV?
- Will you be considering any long-term goals that players can slowly work towards (without losing progress), like Relic Weapons from XI?
Thanks!
- Please consider allowing Player Effort and Skill play a factor in melding in the Materia System (even if it's only increasing the % rate of success slightly). Right now it's all random luck / gamble with no Skill involved.
Thank you for providing so much information about the future plans for FFXIV and of the design philosophies that are going in to it. It certainly looks like this game will shape up to be a true masterpiece. I also love the fact that there will be pre 2.0 story that only us veterans of the game will get to experience. Will the veterans get a commemorative set of free to equip earrings before 2.0 launches or find that our faithful chocobos have one morning taken on a golden hue?
As for my questions:
The balance between challenging content for "hard core" players and stimulating adventures for "casual" players is difficult to find. There was not much mention in 2.0 of what is coming for solo / duo players. Are there still plans to ensure that adventurers can still enjoy the majority of Eorzea without being forced into dungeons and raids in large groups?
Will gaining an estate through the Free Companies be purchased similar (in both ease and method) to the company chocobos? I hope the estates have a garden for botanists to grow and study new plants...
Are there any plans to integrate more aspects of the game into the Lodestone? Including possible ways to interact with our characters while not being logged in to the game?
Keep up the fantastic work :)
Are there plans to revamp the crafting system? Or even making it a shorter process for recipes you've already mastered?
How about just being able to convert more items into materials at a time? Breaking 1 fish at a time is giving me arthritis :(
When will we see better billing options?
On the note of billing:
While I wouldn't mind paying the 12.99 for the game in Nov. What was your deciding factor for making that the "time to pay" initiation since the main party features of the game (jobs and the like) are not being added till Feb? Also since we are basically playing a 50% complete game can we pay 50% of the bill until the release of the official game (ver2.0)? Compromising will keep you the most subscribers, S-E so please don't throw out this idea so quickly.
If the price we pay for having "world-less" partying and economies is that all content has to be instanced ... I'll pass, thank you very much.
The whole World-less thing is a bit too ambitious in my opinion. Sure if you get it just right, it would be phenomenal ... but you have to get it perfect. Otherwise it will wreck whatever game mechanics touches it, just like seemless zones, Market Wards, and the new claiming system did. They were all great ideas, in theory. But in practical application with 20 servers and 100,000 players ... not so much. What would happen if FF14:Phoenix is actually a great success, and you now have 1 million players and 100 servers??
Yoshida-san, you are a remarkable development team leader, but don't repeat your mistakes or the mistakes of your predecessors. Good luck, sir.
Question: Is Hiromichi Tanaka contributing to the FFXIV project?
Background: This a question of personal interest to me. I want to know what happened to him. If no other details could be spared on his role in the current project or SE on a whole, I wanted to at least know that he still had a job with SE. That is all. ...which reminds me, I haven't read his Twitter in a year, haha!
1. Is that screen shot a true Picture of the direction of the art and new Graphics Engin?
(with its much much more gothic, dark and textured look)
2. Will we see a Dx11 version for mid/hi end Pcs along side the current/old Dx9 for low end and Ps3?
3. Is group crafting still planned?
4. Is Player Company housing still planned?
5. Is a Barbershop to change hair only being planned?
6. Better Billing options?
7. What improvements will be made to LS's and LS symbols?
8. Will we see any new zones added, what will be the total number of zones/regions after the map update?
9. Will the new Zones sizes be larger then the current ones to make of up the loss of a seamless world?
Before the release of FFXIV I remember there being an article in Famitsu saying SE plan on releasing new job classes in version updates rather than expansion packs similar to FFXI, is this still one of your aims going forward from 2.0?
Something I always loved in FFXI was the diverse classes released later on, I love how Dancer works in 11. Would you ever consider the Dancer class in XIV? I think a front line healer job that uses TP to heal would work so well in the likes of a 'Light Party'.
Further to those two questions I think what makes an MMO for me is the jobs, I love having a broad and diverse selection and that's probably why I have played XI for 6 years. I appreciate you need to keep some information back but can you confirm how broad you plan to go with new jobs and is their a set number you have in mind for XIV?
These changes seem nothing short of amazing and the new concepts for zones has me very excited. Today was the first time I had a real 'Final Fantasy feeling' about XIV and I want to thank the dev team for sticking by a title that has come under harsh criticism and a lot of blame for the recent criticism of SE.
Keep up the good work I look forward to monthly subscriptions to help contribute :)
Back at release, there was a promise of discounts for players with active Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV accounts. It never came to light because nobody has yet paid a subscription fee on XIV, but, since that's coming.. will that discount actually happen, now?
I would like to know if we will be able to purchase more retainers around the time it becomes no longer FTP?
Some people have secondary accounts in order to hold extra items for them. It would be great to scrap these "mules" to get more Retainers.
Will we have an options for multiple summons or will we have to pick one and only be able to summon that one summon? Is summoning going to be a group activity or can I do it myself?
Sorry if asked already, really havent had a chance to read but am I under the impression that you will be creating more "zone lines" like FFXI for all this new areas?
If so, could you implement a system like FFXII where a blue dotted line appears where you are going to zone since, well for me at least, lose /tells etc when I zone and be nice to either warn people (like I do in FFXI) or halt before zoning if I am in a crucial meeting :3
Sooo many questions I have to ask but shall leave it with that simple one for now~ Keep up the awesome work!
Not good at thinking up questions but wondering about this.
Will ishgard be in the game by time 2.0 is ready?
Hm.. here's one more. I mean I put it in Website Feedback and all but, hey, questions and such right?
Will we be able to change our avatar on the Lodestone (and its associated API) at some point?
As-is, it seems to be stuck to our character, in their underthings, with whatever little modification was applied to it last by an event - so in Forra's case, as you can see from the signature, scanties, Gridanian salute, Gridanian background.
Actually, I believe his attention is somewhat split. I believe that's true about him being on FF XI again now as producer but I read somewhere he still isn't wholly uninvolved with Final Fantasy XIV.
Will progress made now be saved? Also will there be a commemorative item to display our loyalty to the game if we've played since the first beta? or since pre 2.0? Just curious.. ^^;
That is true. Hiromichi Tanaka is the game's Online Business Management Divisions Corporate Executive. It says so in the credits.
In addition to that, he is still leading the Tokyo branches Development Division 3 as far as I know. Both XIV and XI are developed in said division.
The man can't lead a game project, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have valuable assets the company (and the game) can use.
Ok, here's my feedback
I don't feel the game is anymore done now than it was last sept. When 2.0 hits I'll consider this game just starting.
The UI is still awful and slow as syrup, animation locks, server lag, materia making 90% of dungeon gear worthless. Still no real AH, no mailbox, PC to PC trade is clunky and infuriating.
The only notable content you have left is Ifrit and the fight is totally shadowed by the server issues and animation locks, you fight the broken game more than you fight Ifrit.
I understand these have all been pointed out to be fixed or worked on, until then I WON'T be paying one penny to continue to play. I already paid 80+ dollars for a CE edition to a pre-beta game. I'm not opening my wallet again until this game is up to industry standards. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I went through 6 pages scanning for it, and Bayohne directed me here because he's awesome and I'm not. Actually, I'm blind.
Before I say this, I would like to point out that I have been an avid supporter of this game since launch. I wasn't too too vocal about it, buy I always thought, "Hey come on, it's SE. No way in hell they would let their baby sink."
And, it proved true. In the face of disaster, daily aftershocks, and even though some of the devs might have had family to worry about, patch after patch kept coming. Every month the game got better and better.
If one thing I say can be translated and passed through, it's this: Thank you for your ongoing devotion and hard work. This is why Squaresoft, SquareEnix, or simply Square will always be a household brand to me.
Enough sucking up, I have one question/concern.
Is it true that ALL dungeons will be converted into instanced raids? All of them?
As in, no open dungeons at all? No competitive gameplay, at all? No random spelunking solo to open coffers, at all?
Durp.
Concerning the roaming Odin NM, just how strong will it get? Can it get to the point of being a second PW, or it there a cap after a certain number of kills?
Is Classic Summoner planned as a class or are we only getting original pet classes? If summoning primals does not have a dedicated summoner class will primals just be a massive damage summon spell with a cutscene like the older FF's or will they fight along side you?
1. While I approve of the vast and repetitive areas being broken apart, will the overall world remain as large? The vastness of XIV's world is one of the main draws to the game, for me. It made Eorzea feel like a world, rather than a facade.
2. Will we be paying the full subscription rate in the interim period while we wait for 2.0? I love the game and want to support it, but $15/month is more than I can justify.
3. I'm concerned about the "worldless" system, and its effects on the sense of community. Will the shards (Besaid, Gyshal, etc) actually be merged into a single game-world, or just for instances and "content finder"? If the latter, will we have the option to add friends cross-realm and bring them along to non-instanced areas in one shard or the other?
It's not a question, but I'm concerned about the idea of the "content finder" itself. A couple days after 1.18 hit and Toto-rak was launched, I started looking for a group for the dungeon. The party I found was not only welcoming of the fact that I hadn't done the dungeon before, but was even willing to guide me through the quests necessary to unlock the dungeon.
I had similar experiences in World of Warcraft (which I no longer play) before they launched their Dungeon Finder, but after it launched, the dungeon community has become one of the most hostile, self-serving groups of ****** mercenaries that I have ever seen, complaining that anyone who doesn't do enough damage, (or who isn't already fully decked out in gear better than the dungeon provides, let alone demands) is "wasting their time" by making the run go slower. I've even seen some players run extortion rackets (tanks who say "Pay me 75 gold or I'm going to AFK" once the run starts, for example) out of the system.
Please don't do this. Give us a cross-shard party search feature that lets people find one-another, but make it still force us to talk to each other to form the party. Do not assign us to parties with total strangers.
I havent posted before, but i had a question about the payments. I'm playing with a friend that i gave my Buddy Pass when the game was lauched and was wondering if for that person we will need to buy a new copy of the game, like it was originaly supposed to be when the free trial was over, or will the people that are currently playing on a buddy pass registration number wont need to get a new copy and just continue to play?
How do u justify paying for the game thats in your words 50% complete...I think if you want subscription dues the game should be 100%.
When can we see the more concept art/ models for the missing races? Can we see what Demi Human and Dragons look like? Will they still be playabe?
Can we have more Information on Estates?
Well, I'm super excited. I have one question and want to reiterate a concern.
First, it's stated that there will be a system for pets where "Summoned and tamed pets will not count as party members, and will develop over time. Release of a"companion" system for these pet NPCs to fight alongside PCs." Could this include our adventuring companion? I feel bad for the old girl getting shafted. It was a neat concept that didn't really go anywhere.
I also would like to express the desire to change my name if I decide to change race.
I'm ok with starting up the billing, i mean they have worked their little choco tail feathers off for over a year and put up with most of YOU (yes i'm talking to the people who complain incessantly and there is no way to please you anyway). my only suggestion/recommendation is wait till February till you start to bill. if you are going to compete for people holiday dollars with this game you will not be as successful as you would be if you waited another month or two after the holidays. also, how about charging half price got a half finished product, i will stay regardless but it would feel less of a slap in the face for some of the player base.
anyway, keep up the great work SE! i only wish i could be part of your team to help things out! Good luck!
Can you give us a better understanding of what FFXIV 2.0 actually is? Since theres a new engine and client what does that mean for all the old content? Is it somehow "ported" into the new FFXIV 2.0, or is 2.0 a heavily modified version of the original?
