See guys? Daddy said it was okay to do that. Now behave and stop fighting with each other, you all have the same opportunity.

I don't see why people need PLing at all. Learn how to play the game and if you don't like long term MMO gaming why are you playing in the first place?! 2-3 months to hit max level is not a long time for an MMO, not to mention all the time your going to need learning how abilities work, stats, and your role in a party... The idea is to play the game for 2-5 years, if you want to hit max level in a week and make the ultimate character in 3 months whats the point of even playing an MMO?
I think a lot of the counter points fueling this debate are done by teenagers who picked up the game for 10 bucks and are playing cause its FTP. I doubt they'll be paying once p2p starts...
This thread is an amazing time sink, lmfao.

LMAO at least post this with your real account you coward.
Remember when people exploited SP gains from healing, and SE issued a statement saying anyone who did it on purpose and was caught would be rolled back or possibly banned?
Good times.
Players that have been exploiting the elemental weaknesses of monsters to do more damage should be banned for using an exploit.
yes
without the level differences, thats how the game works, and how its programmed
thats no mistake
your trying to find something thats not there
hes specificaly saying that the level differences between players DOES NOT affet incoming sp(outside the party bonus that is, since you dont recieve that 1 person whos higher then yous)
i remember that
but that isnt the case here
heres whats happening
1) they have stated that they made a mistake and didnt expect something to happen(how much exp we gained basicaly with mass aoe linking and chains)
2) they have stated the biggest issue is the afk leveling
3) they have acknowledged this will be fixed next patch
4) they state that power leveling will still be encouraged and available(just not to this extent)
i dont see a reason to ban anyone, but yeah i remember the launch issues, that was something different entirely since they addressed people on it and they still did it after being told not to
How SE sees it "Ban Potential Customers?", no need for anymore than that!
I used to have a lv 50 PL my 20's on puks in mines, it wasnt as good XP as it was now but you could just do same before lol.
The only beneficial now is that you get bonus's and theres no penality, the penality before wasnt 0 exp it was just a reduced percentage.
if you didnt noticed, this game is still in testing phases and you are giving suggestions on how SE will punish players who did PL? iam pretty sure SE will hold a meeting on just to hear your suggestions and fulfill your needs on how to punish players in *beta phases*
I don't know if it's been brought up, but in ffxi when SE discovered the duplication exploit from salvage they did widespread banning of accounts/characters... I don't think anyone felt the response was even remotely fair.
I have mixed feelings about SE's stance on powerleveling, but calling for punishment for the people who are gaining from it won't really solve anything. If it's an issue working other than intended then SE's only prerogative should be to fix it asap, not to mete out punishment to the people who have used it.
Are you freaking serious?
Pretty much this. I think PLing was a huge and foolish oversight by Yoshida, but nobody should be banned for it. Square screwed up - it was their fault. Nothing wrong with people using it (short term anyway, long term it's bad for the game) since it's WITHIN THE CONFINES OF THE GAME, but obviously this little oversight needs to be patched and Square needs to move on from this screw up.
Devs said its perfectly fine. The only upset ones are those with a full compliment of 50s or those without the friends willing to help. We suffer for these players now.
Power-levelling was initially brought up by players on the forum as a reaction to the changes to the claiming system being announced - the changes we see now after 1.19.
The idea was, now that players could attack enemies claimed by other parties/players and the exp & rewards would go only to the player/party that first claimed it, low level players would engage high rank mobs while a high level friend that is not in a party with them would be able to kill it with ease - effectively allowing the low level player to gain a large amount of sp with very little difficulty and in little time due to the assistance of a high level friend.
Upon seeing astute players on the forum bringing up this situation, Yoshi responded with his stance - a stance he confirms to stand by even today - that a certain measure of PL is fine and should exist. Therefore, at this point if you feel sour about PLing in general, or think it is horrible and should not exist or whatever, then you are plain and simple out of luck. Either you will accept it and stay or find another game.
The issue with how PLing is being done right now - the issue they wish to fix is in regards to the exp inhibitor due to large gaps in level between party members not working. This inhibitor existed before 1.19, where one could still PL in the way it is being done now, save the AOE claiming, but not nearly as efficiently. However, as this inhibitor is not functioning, a level 50 is able to kill things off with ease as level 20s gain massive exp while in the party. Furthermore, this allows for the low levels to simply remain still and/or AFK during this time and gain levels.
This inhibitor will be re-introduced with 1.19a, making it ineffective, perhaps to the extent it was pre-1.19, to have a level 50 player in party kill things for you. PLing will still exist, however, but in the form that was originally foreseen and expected:
A level ~20 player/party will engage level 30+ mobs
A level 50 player will then make short work of the mobs engaged by the level ~20 party
The members of the level 20~ party will gain all the exp they would've had they bested those mobs on their own, but at a much better rate with no difficulty.
Players being PLed will for the most part be unable to go AFK while being PLed.
Nobody that takes advantage of the system as it is now deserves to be punished - not until SE says that they do not want players taking advantage of it. If SE puts in a system that doesn't work like they expected it to, it is their fault. Players taking advantage of what is made available to them to advance themselves is only natural.
Besides, if they felt so strongly about it, they wouldn't be waiting for 1.19a and would be going with an emergency update.
Why really?? How does it hurt you personally?
Will no one play with you so you cant take advantage?
Did/Do you have lots of free time so you can spend hours a day levelling?
Levelling is not an Important Part of an F'ing game, Its just a time-sink to allow Dev to avoid making more content and for company's to get more money in subs...
Some MMo's Have lots of quests to level with, in those its kinda fun to level.
In FFXIV is just killing mobs over and over with minimal or no reason other then levelling up...
An No It's not an exploit, go an learn what it means then come back :p
As if it was an exploit any dev team would have hot fix'd it by now,
people who powerlevel their first class are straight up broke. I know because my cousin did 20 levels and can barely afford to buy any crafted gear.
I still think, that while of course you can upgrade your gear, it doesn't offer game changing differences when levelling. When I levelled to 40 on my first character, I was using weathered in every slot and did just fine, and still am now.
They won't punish people for their mistake. People even pointed out the problem of power leveling to Yoshi and the devs and they still couldn't see this coming... so blind.
Instead of complaining about it, which will get you jack, go and take advantage of it before it's gone.
such a religious zealot attitude. Final Fantasy religion really is scary.
Nah. Of course I'd like to see al rollback. But there's no chance that will happen, because the PLers are, in my and their opinion, not "guilty". Given Yoshis' very ambiguous statement about his stance on PL, it would at least have been possible that things are "working as intended".
