Still, pretty amazing fight, such a refreshing thing to see come out of SE. It's a little sad though that no "regular player" is going to experience this fully. Its not super duper hard, but it's pretty tough. I'm sure though, after sometime when people are completely decked out in gear + materia it'll become that much easier. Though, they don't make a materia that makes your situational awareness increase, so....iunno
They are going to nerf this fight for sure soon, because like Keftenk said: no "regular" players will ever be able to accomplish it at it's current stage. In the very very very very low off chance that we don't manage to get that last 5~10% down before that happens we will all personally take embarrassing nude photos for the community.
I have a question richardd. I just did the rank 50 quest where you have to kill the NM to get the inferno lamp. Do i have to kill the NM before each attempt on level 50 ifrit?
It doesn't and you don't even need an inferno lamp aside from your first kill. I think patch notes says if you kill w.o lamp you just can't loot chest.
Unless his regen is insane in P4 (we don't live long enough to see really) the fight is beatable in its current state with pretty much a flawless execution.
P4 only increases the "area" of his skills, theres still room to be safe. P4 is just like P3 but with less room to manuever and you still need steady consistent DPS on ifrit to push him through regen to death.
If they ever nerf Ifrit in any manner, I hope its only that they remove his Regen and keep the rest of the fight the same.
the regen slows when you hit P3~P4. Also note that in P4 Eruption is larger/faster and it pops twice underneath 2 separate people. Plumes is larger but just as easy to avoid if you are within sear range of ifrit.Quote:

And yes the fight is definitely beatable in it's current state (obv) as we've been @ 5~10% numerous times. The execution has to be nothing but flawless indeed.

Doubtful. Yoshida said that his idea for endgame was to make the new content where only hardcores can beat it, then when the next patch hits nerf said content for regular/casuals, then replace that with another hard fight.
Either way, have you guys noticed a difference using Fire Resist Materia? Debating if I should use that for survival or just go nuts on offensive materia where I can put it.
Fire Veil is extremely low chance it seems from gear as we tried to SBPT a lot of it early on. We don't use it but we know the exact mitigation elemental resist gives. Sear damage is best mitigated in other ways though :3Quote:

Have you guys tried using the company issued tonics and ethers at all? At first, SE made it seem like they'd be extremely helpful in Company Missions, but I think most of us forgot about it pretty quickly when we could kill the Darkhold with our own strength.
Yeah, I am optimistic that animation lock will be phased away soon. Action rehaul could be "it".
If they make the fights require constant mobility the locking going to hinder the game too much in the long run.
Well, they didn't rehaul the combat, UI, servers, areas, economy, nor did they add jumping in that game either...
I'm only optimistic because they've changed the engaging and a-a animations though. So they can do it.
Digging new dmg, it seems like the tear of most damaging moves now is shadowseer> mrd final ws> lncs (not sure what moves for lnc and arc)> arc. I could be wrong of course. But mrd's last weapon skill, and all its aoe ws are good for keeping chains now.
Its nice to see people shouting for lnc, lets now hope its not like lets fill this party up with lncs, then we're back to square one.
You know whats equally as nice? Seeing AM's do 500 dmg to Ifrit luls.

Drops only from belts? The trend we've noticed is that Materia "loot pool" from spiritbinding seems to be that if it can be equipped on the piece you can get it, if its not, you don't.
Example: Swordsman STR/DEX is Legs only, and the only thing we've gotten it to form off of is pants.
Other than that I don't think I've noticed a different pattern in any case.
