Constant 90002 Error

Your bandwidth (often mistakenly referred to as speed) has little to nothing to do with it. The electrons travel the same speed for their respective media (copper, fiber, etc.). The bandwidth plan is a metric of the payload and not the speed. Think of it as a comparison between traveling in a car versus on a bus down the same free way. 4 people in a car may arrive in the same time as they would on a bus traveling the same highway at the same speed...provided they don't run into any traffic jams, detours, etc. that might slow them down.

Anything beyond about 128k of bandwidth is really only used for the initial loading of a zone/instance or perhaps a popular hunt mark/fate (depends on how many players are fighting). For the most part, the game play can run just as well on adsl-lite as it can on gigabit fiber--so long as the latency is consistently low and you have at least 128k of bandwidth in each direction.

What matters most is the latency factor. More importantly, how consistent it is. The game runs on a 300ms or less cycle (lower in instances). If your latency is spiking high enough to exceed the "heartbeat" cycle or is drooping packets then you risk the pausing/rubber banding/skipping and session dropping because if too many retransmits taking place.

Well, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with FFXIV though. I currently use Telenet (Belgian provider) and I see several 90001's and 90002's a day.
What I've noticed, is that it's not an instant disconnect. Once the 90k is about to happen, you are unable to receive/send /tells, /fc and /party chat. Most of the times you have no idea this happens, but you might feel ignored sometimes though.. :p
After about 5 minutes of not being able to talk in the chat anymore, the 90001/90002 occurs (while perfectly able to play during those 5 minutes), but you are able to login immediatially after the dc again. So also no "You are still logged in" error.

I've never had this issue during FFXI, WoW, Maplestory and never had a disconnect during any of my games on Playstation 3/4. Only FFXIV has this problem. It occurs on both my pc version as my PS4 version of FFXIV. This clearly has something to do with FFXIV...

On top of that, my girlfriend is playing FFXIV right next to me. We're both on the same network and sometimes I receive a 90k while she doesn't and vica versa.
Also, I've tried WTFast today (some people hinted on the forum this would help preventing 90ks, but just got one a few minutes ago again :( )

I have been getting this constantly since transfering to Balmung earlier this year. Seems to be happening once an hour or so. Very frustrating as a DPS in the duty finder to have to re-queue after waiting 20-30 mins or when in the middle of a chat only to realize I've lost five minutes of conversation. Haven't had any other game/application drop connection. Only FFXIV.

ISP is Charter

This is a new one on me and it's been constant ONLY ON MY MAIN CHARACTER I can log in to other characters, other servers and data centers without issue but trying to log into my main character and it's 90002 very frustrating and obviously not an issue my end or any of the hops along the way.

Yeah I'm getting this at least a few times a day.

This happens to me all the time and Square keeps saying it's my ISP. But for a long time I didn't have this issue...something has to have changed on Square's side...Please fix this!

Your ISP can change their routing once every 14 days/weeks/months/etc. according to their policy. Without a proper diagnostic of your routing to know for certain it is hard to say. But history has shown that most of the time there are problems in route to the servers--something that is established and maintained by your ISP and the peering partners they have chosen to use...nothing SE has any control over.

I've been getting this error extremely frequently, too.

I started playing about 11 days ago and, for the first week, it's worked fine. But for the last 4 days it's been kicking me out within 5 minutes of logging in and, when I do manage to play within that 5 minutes, it's extremely laggy.
Sometimes, on the night of a blue moon when the planets align, I can play it for maybe 2 hours (give or take) problem free until it kicks in again and starts giving me 90002. I'm not particularly knowledgeable on things like routers, ISP etc, but I've tried resetting my router, turning it on/off, and restarting my PS4 but nothing's worked. I can't even try going wired because that's not an option right now. I can play every single one of my other games as smooth as hell, but not this one.
This is particularly annoying because this game is subscription based, so every day that this plagues me, I'm effectively losing my money and interest in the game which SUCKS, because I really like it...
If this carries on I'll probably end up having to cancel my subscription until it gets sorted. I don't see why it would work fine the first week and act like shit for the rest.

well the game right now is extremely unplayable. whether it's on ps4/ps3/pc the lag is all over the place. I am paying for the game, and i get the poor customer service. wtf is this? I have played this game over 900 days. I didn't have this 90002 error until two days and it is making the game suck. I want to know what Square-enix is going to do about it?

I'm getting 90002 errors only in dungeons and I can't complete 1 without losing my connection. Even after a clean install of Windows, using a VPN, port forwarding, optimizing my connection, updating drivers and everything else I could find online. I can mine/log for hours with no issues, but I can't finish 1 dungeon. I'm losing my mind and I don't know what else to do but unsub until this problem is actually addressed. What is happening?!

I'm getting this as well. 4 drops in 2 hours. Durandal server.

We get dc'd all the time with 90k errors. My husband and I both play on PC and PS4. We get disconnected constantly at different times, never at the same time. We're also on TS with our raid group, we'll get game interruption DC but not TS dc. Sometimes he'll get DC'd and I'll still be in the game with no connection issues and vice versa. It's especially terrible on Sundays aroud 9:15 pm ATL time.

We're both connected to the same modem on a hard line, no wifi. We never get dc'd at the same time. Is this still an ISP issue? It would make sense if we dc'd at the same time since we're both on the same modem connection but it never happens. Somedays I'll go without a single DC and my husband will dc every 30-45 minutes the same day, it's really weird.

It never has been an ISP issue on your end. The issue revolves around SE's data center's and their ISP.

Dude, stop talking about routing. If ISP's and their routing was the real issue then you need to explain why other games, mmos, etc are running fine for the people with problems on FF. This is an SE issue with THEIR ISP, not player's.

Every single game, every internet service, etc in North America runs fine for a majority of the players who seem to be only having a problem with this game. How is that their ISP's problem? Sorry, you're absolutely wrong.

I haven't had 90002 errors for weeks, but all of a sudden it's been happening for 2-3 days straight every couple hours. I just got it twice in 10 minutes now. I know it's not my ISP, otherwise it would have been doing it for weeks on end. It's on SE's end and it's driving me up the wall. I missed several nodes I needed the the last two days and it's put me behind schedule. e-e

I have been playing for over 6 months now and have not had the constant 90002 issues until today out of no where. I can go anywhere between 2 hours to 5 minutes after logging in before I am suddenly disconnected. I have ensured all my settings are set properly. (even though this should not have been necessary as I have not changed anything from when it was working properly)

While playing, I do not experience any lag or latency issues of any kind. I find it odd that in my past from disconnecting, I usually see the disconnect symbol over my head and everything freezes on my screen for a few seconds before the game finally boots me. These disconnects are sudden and immediate as if I am simply getting booted off the server.

I find it hard to believe that my ISP is the cause as I don't seem to have this problem on my alt and my roommate who is on the same LAN that we are both wired in to does NOT experience constant 90002 disconnects.

I play on Primal > Famfrit

I would like to know something official from SE about what the problem is and what attempts are being made to resolve it, but I see from the rest of the thread that this isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

I found my issues to be router issues.

I factory reset my router and configured it back up and all seems fine now

Has anyone received any fixes for this issue? I have only been playing for a few days. For the last couple of days, the game has been unplayable. 90000, 90002 and 2002 error codes every time I log in. Usually within a minute or two. Very frustrating.

The PS4 isn't compatible with some router settings. Login to your router through the PC.

1. WPA-PSK/WPA2 > WPA-PSK

By default, many routers are set to both and WPA2 has priority by default when both are enabled. PS4 will not work with WPA2, thus causing the immediate boots (although PS3 oddly does work when set to both.

2. AES/TKIP > TKIP.

Set to TKIP only.

3. Port forward/trigger.

The PS4 should not be able to connect smoothly, but if not, you can attempt to include port forwarding. Don't have the port numbers at, though, but I think you won't need it.

Same is happening to me, only since the patch update, crashes every hour or so, really frustrating :/ Hope they fix this soon! I'm on PC and everything was working absolutely fine before the patch.

With me it started about a week or two ago. I can't go an hour or two without getting disconnected with a 90002 error. My connection has been rock solid in the past up until recently.

Help- constant 2002, 10105 and 90k error
Guys seriously whats going on, granted i have been away for some time but over the last 5-6 hours it has been real bad, first i encountered this in antitower relogging didnt even help resetting router didnt even help and further once u log out we tend to get constant 2002 and 90k error with the ocassional 10105 error.

it feels as if we went back in time toward when the game was first released, it didnt help that no maintenance is being done, seriously guys ive been from early access till now and for paid mmo it seriously cant be this bad. now even when i ocassionally can log in if luck is on my side i cant do anything, cant access retainer, quest dungeon or anything, trying to tele out of town either cancels itself or i get another error and back to main menu, trying to go out to the world and attacking mobs lag is bad then system hangs and back in main menu.

Literally its like the game is broken in every possible conceivable way feels worst than even a beta or alpha test game, can someone seriously fix this debacle coz i cant do anything in game

by the way im playing it on ps4, all other games and even the psn store access isnt an issue, the issue here seems to be the servers or the failed communication with the servers

Manage to just log in but it took between 2-5 min to interact with anything from summoning bell to npc. ie between 2-5 min to just click and it respond, then another 2-5 for menu or interaction and another if going into menu and another to click on item to farm (retainers). same is for npc finally when trying to activate amdapor hard quest for it to appear on df voila when click on npc after 5 mins got lovely 90k error and back to main menu, guys this isnt peak hour and the lag is so bad even in unpopulated area like gridania it lags real bad and hangs its like really broken...pls do address this as the current situation as it stands is the game is literally unplayable

So.. this just started for me yesterday (2nd march).. and it seems to have gotten A LOT WORSE today.

Getting the 90002 error in random situations, even idling in various towns/fc house. Connection has been solid to the game for the past few months with virtually 0 dcs.. but I have like 10 within the past 24hrs. What prompted me to finally post here is that I got this error twice within the hour now. If this goes on it will really affect my dungeon/raid runs because I have totally ZERO idea when the next dc happens.

Characteristics about the dc: Gameplay is totally smooth, no signs of latency. And suddenly everything stops and pop out message shows about 5seconds after. Try relaunching game immediately again but launcher always doesnt show anything until a few minutes later too.

I am at a loss of what to do as the router isn't exactly controlled by me(it's my landlady's) so I have no idea how can I check it's settings (nor do I believe it was amended in any way because they simply have no reason to do so). Hoping it's some sort of issue that can be traced on SE's end to resolve :(

Incredibly bad 90002 error DCS since the last maintenance/mini patch.

Differences from individual router settings from person to person is usually what is the cause of connection problems, which just isn't easy to test every single configuration. Yes, PS4 is configured to identify differently than PCs and the older PSs including the PS3, so you may hit an issue with the 4 where you don't with the 3. I did too.

90002 every 10 minutes or so , please fix my sub runs out soon haven't really got my moneys worth ;/

Problem: 900002 error random, but on average, once per hour, sometimes 2 or 3.

Occurs: Inside battle instances (Sephirot Extreme, Level 60 dungeons)
-In towns (Limsa Lominsa Lower, Mist)

When: Issues started after 3.25 patch release.

Prior History: I moved in and had no issues for the first week and a half, and now it happens almost all of the time.

Further information:
My average ping to the server is 70ms to 110ms
Charter Communications - ISP
Connection speeds: 100mb DL / 4mb UL
Type: Cable, apartment

Using network monitoring software, I can confirm my ping to the game server will spike to 300, 500, and as high as 700ms for 1 to 4 seconds, just long enough to cause my connection to drop from the server(s).

900002 Error roughly every 10 minutes in all areas of the game: field, dungeon, raid, residential.
The game is unplayable at this point.

Getting the 90002 disconnect every ten or so minutes. Everywhere. If not the flat out disconnect, I'm locked in a no-sending / no-receiving state for a good 25 seconds or more every few minutes. Game is highly unplayable, and started only this evening after weekly reset; 03/22/2016.

ISP: Verizon FiOS Fiber (DL 150mbps / UL 160~mbps)

Edit: This is FFXIV-only related. No issues with any other program pertaining to the internet. Strictly connectivity problems 'twixt myself and the game.

Oh wow, my people! Someone directed me to this thread after I was randomly griping about it on my server's Facebook page. I've been getting constant 900002 errors for about a week or a week and a half now, roughly every 30 minutes, but sometimes it'll go upwards of an hour without rearing its ugly head. Wired connection, no packet loss during 900002 error, no other issues with any other games. I've broken a couple high dollar synths because of it.

This is getting riduculous. SE has server problems at least once a month and not once were we given a free day of playtime for it. Marketing much?

I'd just like to point out in this particular topic that 90002 is a client disconnect error - this means that your client closed the connection because of a local network failure.

Now, this could be your ISP.
Anybody with 90002 error, I would recommend rebooting your router, switch from wifi to wired and/or calling your ISP.
