I believe there was something on the lodestone about this, though the title was misleading as it only mentioned Windows (PC) version, but it includes details of what to do for those that have preordered the physical PS4 version. I can't confirm for you if this will work as I'm playing on PS3 and thus have an entire extra can of worms to be stressed over, but regardless I hope the link I've provided below helps.

Whilst I am not amused at how the Heavensward download for EU PSN is being handled, I'll wait a bit longer before unleashing the full extent of my frustration as I would like to hope at least that things are better than they seem until we have evidence (or lack thereof) to prove otherwise.

I still don't see any mention of HW on the AU PSN store at all, and with probably only one update left between now and early access, I'm not holding out much hope.

The AUS PSN store is virtually identical to the EU Store as they are both handled by Sony Europe. So it will be up on the 19th in Aus as welll

considering early access starts on the 19th, that's pathetic. It's going to take hours and hours just to download/install it - and that's assuming no technical glitches of any kind.

and that will probably be the case for everyone regardless of where they pre-ordered from as well all still have to wait for SE to take the servers down and release the content.

Are you saying no download version at all is available yet on any platform, and won't be until the 19th of June?

If that's the case - god help them.

Not necessarily. There are a couple games that were scheduled for release on the 5th in EU yet there they are on the AUS PSN without having to wait an extra day

Its true. They often time things a day before so it lines up with release in europe. Its why certain games are accessed slightly earlier in aus

Sorry if this had been mentioned elsewhere (14 pages is a lot to read through!) but it's worth noting.. I don't think you need to download a new launcher or even own heavensward to get the patch files the same time as everyone else. Even if you only own the base ARR game you're still going to be prompted to download the heavensward patch, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see all the new race characters and jobs running around, even in old zones.

Everyone will be running the same version of the game regardless if you own heavensward or not so you don't need to worry as much about the download servers being taxed too much on the 19th.. You can still preload once the patch goes live (I presume during the extended maintenance on the 18th).

As for the PSN versions.. I would hope its going to be much like every other digital release and unlock at midnight on the day of release. People seem to be assuming you will have to wait until PSN updates but every other digital release this year has unlocked at midnight (to my knowledge) and FFXIV should be no different. I would imagine the PSN download will just be an unlock code on your account anyway, you don't need to download the whole game again from scratch just because of an expansion pack.

I understand lots of people are anxious you will lose time playing during early access, but don't lose sight of the things I posted above that are true of any MMO xpac release and digital releases in general. The only thing that will stop people from playing the game will be if SQEX didn''t buy enough servers for the influx of people.. Let's hope they learned a lesson from ARR early access :3

acording to the new information given to DIGITAL psn for early access (found on loadstone) you can (if your NA or JP) pre download the client and the information on the 17th, so the servers won't be as full on the 19th but it still means NA and JP psn users will get a slight headstart in comparison to the EU/ AUS players.

Pre-order codes are still available, at least from GAME and Amazon. The code might be redeemable with the PSN update which would be the 17th or 18th for EU.

It's the only option for me to get the pre-order items as I'm on holiday for early access and official release (planning fail lol). Hoping there is an option to upgrade to digital CE via mogstation like there was for ARR.

I'm just posting this in case people are looking for other options ^^

it was confirmed the DIGITAL CE would be available as a upgrade on a later date on LLXX i beleave, (either XX XXI or XIX) however the that will only gain you the Gryphon mount as well as the minion and possibly the dark knight helmet the fantasia bottles are a pre-order CE bonus.

however no date has been announced for this so it may be until the 2nd 'rebirth' festival in august before you can upgrade.

We realise that our update on digital pre-orders for the PS3/PS4 versions of Heavensward in EU was a rather unwelcome surprise, and would like to take the time to go into further detail on the situation. We also know you have been eagerly awaiting input from us on this topic, but we wanted to make sure we could give you a comprehensive update, and address as many of your concerns as possible. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you all.

Australian Customers

First off, all the information we have mentioned in this thread before, or mention in this post, also applies to Australian customers and those in PAL territories, unless specifically stated otherwise, when we talk about the EU.

Upgrade Issues (PS3 -> PS4)

Please also be aware that the (now resolved) issue, where users who had participated in the FFXIV: ARR PS3 to PS4 upgrade campaign were unable to pre-order Heavensward on the North American PlayStation Store, should not affect EU account customers – we have gone to great lengths to confirm this with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

Heavensward Pre-Orders on the EU PlayStation Store

At the same time, we did our best to liaise with Sony and get pre-orders on the EU PlayStation Store up and running ahead of the launch of Heavensward, but due to several circumstances outside of our control, this proved not possible.

We are aware that, to many, the NA and the EU PlayStation Store look like essentially the same thing, but they’re actually completely separate. We should have communicated this more clearly beforehand and apologise for any confusion caused.

However, to alleviate this and avoid a complete loss of the pre-order bonuses (including Early Access) for players interested in the digital versions of Heavensward for PS3/PS4, we have worked with SCEE to find a solution.

From Friday, 19th June until 23rd June 2015, a special version of Heavensward will be made available for a limited time that will allow you to take full advantage of the early access period and obtain the bonus in-game items available to those who pre-order.

We realise that this will require you to purchase and download the game on the day that Early Access starts, but this was the most practical solution possible, and we hope that this will enable you to use your time as effectively as possible given the circumstances.

Of course, all of this won’t have any effect on anyone who pre-ordered or planned to pre-order the physical PS4 versions of the game, as this is purely an issue with the PS Store platform for digital downloads.

So, how exactly will it work?

On Friday, the 19th of June, the PlayStation Store will be updated to include special Heavensward Early Purchase versions (both standard and digital Collector’s Editions). Please note that we have been informed by SCEE that it can take anything from minutes to several hours until the update has been implemented in all regions, so we are unable to give a specific time when the Heavensward Early Purchase versions will be launched in each territory.

Once you can find Heavensward on the Store, you can purchase, download, install/add Heavensward to your account and play right away. The Early Purchase versions will be available up until the 23rd of June, during which they will be taken off the store and replaced with the normal purchase versions.

The in-game “Baron Circlet”, “Baron Earrings” and the “Chocobo Chick Courier” pre-order bonus items will be delivered to all eligible players on 23rd June. Further details can be found in our recent Lodestone post here.

Important – Please note that there will also be a FINAL FANTASY® XIV Online - Early Purchase Bundle, which includes the A Realm Reborn base game and Heavensward. As the Early Access period is solely for existing players of A Realm Reborn, this bundle will not include Early Access! So please make sure to buy the correct version. However it will include the in-game bonus items.

We would like to again sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but please be assured that this was the only viable option, and we have done whatever we could to make the Early Access period available to our loyal players on PS3 and PS4, who are just as important to us as players on any other platform. Thank you for your patience!

Thank you so much for taking the time to confirm with them about the ps3 to ps4 upgrade thing. I am aware the psn store asks me to buy the game sometimes so clearly doesn't know I own more than the trial version. I was really hoping someone would confirm this on the forums so I can continue holding out for the digital collectors edition.

Oh and a quick question, will the theme included in the American pre-order also be available to those of us who buy for PS4 in EU?

Voicing a slight concern, as I know there have already been problems with the PSN Store in the US in regards to authenticating whether you have ARR.

Will the Digital Download of Heavensward for the PS3 on the EU PSN keep in mind that there are some that originally bought the Physical version of A Realm Reborn and thus may not have the store recognise that they have bought ARR and thus may be potentially locked out of buying the digital versions of Heavensward unless they buy ARR again digitally (or miss out on early access and buy the both in one digital version).

This concerns me greatly as were already risking losing out on early access if there are any more unforseen setbacks, but to have a similar yet quite different problem occur due to a very possible situation would cause undue stress to those few of us still on PS3 that wish to enjoy and appreciate the world you work harder than I could imagine to build and maintain.

If my worries are unfounded then I am sorry for wating time, I'm not exactly an expert in how the PSN runs. I hope that when the time comes for whatever expansion after Heavensward arrives that distribution will end up running more smoothly.

Is there any chance that a price for this will be announced ahead of time? I want to get the digital ce edition, but if the price is going to be something ridiculous like £60, then I can't justify spending £30 above the amazon version just for a mount and a minion. The problem being if I wait until launch day, I won't have the opportunity to pre-order it anywhere else.

If I was to pre-order the regular version, would I benefit at all? Would I get to download it any earlier?

inccorrect, according to the lodestone they can 'pre-patch' ready as part of there pre download, so they will have the full files downloaded before the 19th during the maintenance.


also, glad to see a full explanation from the devs. thats what i think a lot of people wanted to see instead of 'info at a later date' then never seen any information, with this being your first expansion for this game it can be excused as first time 'inexperience' (a lot of companies even if they do dlc or expansions the first one for the game is always rocky) but when it comes to 4.0, i think all of us would agree with a lot more clearer communication, instead of everyone finding out on reddit that things are available and there was no information given (like the ps4 EA code was redeemable nearly 2 weeks ago, no lodestone post was made for PSN physical players. so this was a complete guess on the player part.) as well i think most will agree as well when it comes to the release and pre-order, (and i know this will be hard for a big game like this) but try to make the games release at near enough the same time, JP was able to buy nearly 3 weeks ago, US last week and EU in 2 weeks time. if it was going to be this wild it has to be a all or none mentality, to keep things in line with each other.

finally, when it comes to the hype built up about a Specific short event to get there hands on, this time that would be utilised by crafters to overthrow the market bored, people to spoil a lot of information, and even start making maps online to show the new areas. to those joining in, having a download/ buy and patch on the start date, while others can have a pre download, also sets players back another thing that should be universal. such as everything being downloadable on the 18th, so on the 19th all players have the chance to start at the same time. (possible difference for the JP servers due to the JP and EU/NA servers being separate.) this way you wouldn't have players basically complain, especially since the market system will be overthrown with the new HW items at absurd prices. and since these items are new the value to players will be wild.

i do understand game marketing and design is difficult, i spent 5 years on a game design team, so i know that you must of worked your butts off, butt if things are launched in this specific way, then there must be some slight changes made,

P.S. to the team who did the marketing and planning to have the heavenward event in france, you chose a very nice castle to do it in. and if they plan to do it again i recommend having the ishgaurd banners instead of the heavenward (or with) to show the fact the castle is very ishgardian.

no where did it say pre-patch. everyone is getting the patch at the same time, but not the client.

you guys i think is your very fist MMORPG i think huh ? so let me explain yeah that be a full download of heavenward region, lvl, monster and etc all you buy (your copy of heavenward or the code) is just a pass to have access in heavenward content then when we reach 2 h 00 o'clock PDT in 19 june 2015 now you can access heavenward if your register the game in your account (mogstation) of course. So again dont worry SE gonna put the pacth 3.0 2 day before the launch of heavenward. All your buy is just your pass to have a access on heavenward content. Is been 10 years i play MMORPG i begin wicth ultima online and after world of warcraft all those MMORPG do the same he deploy a pre-extention pacth before the launch. So player gonna enjoy the new content right in the start of the new expensions.

This expansion pre-order process has been atrocious.

1-Version differences: JP version being far better than both NA/EU.
2-Price differences: UK version being 80$ more than the US one.
3-Region locking the SE EU store: It was a hassle for me to get the expansion while overseas.
4-Expansion availability: Amazon and other retailers got the expansion ages after it was up on the SE store.
5-Platform compatibility: A million type of code where every console needs a spesific type of code for the game to work has been hell. In the FFXI days all you needed was a code that matched your region. Now we need one that matches the region, platform, and a code for each platform we use. Making us buy the game multiple times. What the hell is this? Seriously.
6-Early Access codes: They don't get sent, then they don't work when they do, then they work for some but not others.
7-PSN/STEAM dates: Steam 1st didn't have the game up for sale until june 23rd. PSN is still wonky on the early access.

Half of the problems on this list is due to the god awful backward way the game codes are handled. Please just make it so any code will work on any system before the next expansion is released and spare us all the hoop jumping.

They need a dictionary to check what preorder means.

I remember one of the last patches, they decided they would have to extend maintenance for another hour, simply because people complained it was "unfair" that those capable of logging on at the time might have a whole extra hour up their sleeves to cap tomes for the week.

Now you have an entire region/platform in serious danger of being days behind. Will they get the same consideration? Will maintenance be held over, or the start delayed, until this download has been available for a reasonable amount of time?

We all here know that the Japanese version of Heavensward for PS users has been released on 25th last month and definitely feel unfair for difference of the release dates between each regions despite we pay same purchasing price for this game.
SE needs to be changed to offer to all users of each region anyway. You must show sign of regret to us even if we awfully complain SE that betrayed us this time.

i still think the way this should of been handeld was by putting on the mog station an account buy for the DIGITAL version of the game, with physical equaling up to $130 (converted to the local currencies but all having the SAME base price in one currency so £90 for $130 ect.) for all regions (with the cost of import added) that way digital players on any platform could buy the account upgrade on mogstation, and there done they now have access to hevensward, while the physical users get physical upgrade code, and if they pre-order from SE's store a digital code (same as the physical) so they can upgrade to heavenwards account, none of this multi-buy for the same game buy a pass to acsses the content on a new platform fine, but a addon which is just a downloaded patch not fine.

Reading your response, i do feel for you in terms of your difficulties with dealing with sony however it doesnt change the bitterness of getting everything so late.

I really hope you and sony europe please get your acts together and reasonably allow alll players the ability to pre order ahead of early access in a reasonable time frame.

it is SE, they allways screw their costumers over. trust me we will all be screwed out off early access, because they cant get their act together even after all the complaints they have gotten so far.

mainetenance on NA severs on 9pm on a saturday???? wtf, can nobody in SE use their head for once.
and we all know that everyone is going to get 90k issues that do get on, because i can tell you right now allready they are not prepared.

i will say it again SE, if we EU ps3/4 players do not get the options to get early access.

I've been keeping any eye out for prices but so far all I've been able to find is the US prices.
The only thing I was able to find was a page suggested on the ps4 dashboard, but that just listed something like 'prices vary'
