Why do people play Lalafell?

I actually felt like that with Charr. Once I stick to a race (In FFXI I too was a knife-ears), it's hard to imagine myself being any other race. That being said if the new race coming in the expansion is as beastly (Burmecian's?) as I imagine them to be, I'll be chugging some Fantasia.

I don't get the appeal either not sure why so many people want to play a character that looks like a child. I don't find them cute or anything, then again I don't find children in real life cute or adorable. They just don't appeal to me at all.

PS cat people...you are the real pervs...your cat-girls look like 14-16 year old teenagers (read jailbait), that you typically enjoy flaunting in very skimpy outfits...and their emotes tend to be hyper-sexual/flirty too. Also, it's even become so normal that it's a big joke...but many of those 'cat-girls' are played by guys in real life. Meaning grown men are playing dress-up princess with teeny-bopping flirty charcters...so that's not at all creepy. At least most lala-players tend to stick to their own actual gender.

And Look I get it, people play what they like/for reasons on their own. But I'm getting a little tired of the 'people who play lala's are pedos/pervs discussion'...especially when it comes from people who actually play the 'sexualized teenage looking' character type. (Cat-girls)

So yeah, cat people, keep throwing rocks at the lala's if you want, but there's really nothing sexy about them nor do people choose them for those reasons. Cute does not equal sexy.

When I was a lala, I was her b/c she was cute and silly. I switched to roe (for camera angles) but also because she actually looks like a woman...a woman who could hold her own in a battle. Oh, and her emotes tend to be far from sexual...in both cases. I didn't decide to play this game to flirt...I play because I like it.

See this thread is going in a good direction. To be honest I never thought of my character like that, its obvious where your head is at though.

I played a Hyur for over a year - just switched to Lala, everything I do is now hilarious. Commendation farming is about ten times easier and people seem to just throw them at you at the end of every instance. Being a Chibi version of Kakashi probably helps that though.

I did it for the fun factor and just to freshen up the gameplay experience.

When I made my Lala, I wanted to make the cutest character who will take on the world's biggest monsters with a heart bigger than her body. Therefore, Delenia Forcentis the Paladin was born!

Camera angles aren't the best of things, but I'm so used to it now I wouldn't have it any other way. Bring on the dragons, the big epic monsters, anything - I'll take them on even if they are 5 times bigger than I am!

Lalafell emotes are some of the best things ever too.

I like lalas because they are short like me.. XD (Only 4'11 ;___;)
it makes me feel more comfortable being small..
I think they also fit my personality more~
it's all a matter of preference though, why does anyone pick any race? :confused:

I agree with you there.

Also every DF Ive done and theres been an obnoxiously ADD run ahead of the tank and pull more even when I pulled whats pretty much limit of the party to handle comfortably, they have always been lolafails. Not saying all lolafails are like that, just all like that are lolafails from my experience.

a lot of lala's have horrible personalities from my experience. also they can be damn hard to see in certain fights lol. i know quite a few people that didn't want to learn shiva ex with a lala in the party because it's annoying to try and find them some times.

Because Lalafell hugs make the world go round.

I agree with the above posters. I dont really get the appeal at all. They don't look like tiny adults they look like children. It's also super creepy when players dress them in skimpy clothing. But then again, " to each his own."

I am sorry to see that you have had horrible experiences with Lalafellins, but please keep a open mind to us, like all players we are different from each other. I think the fact that people wont take Lala with them to dungeons, because they are too short is silly. I have never heard someone say that to me and if someone does exclude another player, because of their ingame race... then I will feel very sad for him or her.

I don't look at my lalafell in a sexual way nor do I see it as a child. To me, my character is a chibi version of my real life self. I also just like being short in games. o.0 Plus.....the moogle hat and goblin cap look awesome on a lalafell. XD

Most Lala players don't see their character in a sexual way, IME, but there are a lot of male ones who seem to think it's Epic and Hilarious to make inappropriate sexual remarks and talk about how their character is a pimp or whatever which is kind of weird and gross though. I dunno why it attracts so many players with this weird 'I'mma pimp' complex.

...Oh, right, the in-lore drug and prostitution cartels.

It wasn't a party of Lalafells that kicked me out of DF parties numberous times for having the audacity of trying to learn certain EX and Coils. It's not just Lalafells that attempt to keep content in game to themselves.

I finally looked at some of the videos in this thread... and it made me want more... and I found this video and THIS is why it's great to be a lalafel.

Lalafells definitely have the best emotes. ;)
(They're also cute, though that part is somewhat countered by the fact they don't show off cool-looking gear as clearly as the other races.)

That said, I never much liked the lower camera angle, and leveling my lala's archer class is annoying. (She squeals with every shot fired. My Miqo'te and Hyur don't do that. I haven't actually worked on archer with my Elezen or Roes, but somehow I rather doubt they'd squeal like that.)

I have a male Miqote and he shouts when fighting in melee or shooting arrows, the same is for my male Hyur. I think the whole squealing depends on which voice you picked during character creation.

I had already done it...but that video makes me so much more happy that I did.
