i think someone already confirmed that this is paladins final outcome for their relic weapon. don't quote me on that though.

I want too see the new Thyrus, I always hated its look!
This will probably require us to beat twintania 10 times, Nael 7 times, an the final coil boss 5 times. It will also require us to grind all of the turns at least 100 times to get some random useless drop that has 1% of dropping.. and you have to roll on it too =D. Dont forget you have to complete 3 different fates in every map region, kill 15 of the rarest monsters that take 5 mins to respawn and run the thousand maws of totorokokoko .... 1000 times. This is merely one.. of 10 enchantments you will need to complete to get the final form. Each enchantment scroll requires 2000 of the latest tomes.. which means.. yes you guessed it.. you will have to wait 5 weeks to max and get each scroll. But thats not so bad... I mean it will take you just about 5 weeks to complete each enchantment scroll.
Bloody brilliant... and a good way to get people to keep their subs ^_^.
Finally new models for the relic weapons.
To get the final relic, you must have a Nexus for every other weapon first. During a full moon. Standing on X13 Y20 in the South Shroud. While doing the Manderville in a full alliance. And having penta melded gear.
Not a fan of the look, and is it really called Excalibur? I mean this is not King Arthur, hmmm

You do not question who the owner of the sword is, but only the means to acquire it!
I personally like it, especially my Nexus. To me its 1 of the best looking WHM weapons.
It doesnt look boring as a "simple staff" such as the Yagrush or T10 weapon and looks much better than most WHM weapons. especially if you compare it to the Omnirod or even the Ironworks staff. ( Seriously all Ironworks weapons looks awesome except the WHM one ).
PS: Tbh now that i think about it, apart from T5 and T9 WHM weapons, i dont like the look of most the WHM weapons. :(
I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all, but for this beholder that weapon looks like crap. I'm sorry but I swear who ever designs some of the end game weapons must always be hopped up on LSD.
Anyways If you look at the FFXIV art book cover that is on the Loadstone (The Art of Eorzea) the male Hyur holding that sword in the center looks more like what I would expect for the next form of the Curtana. Albeit nothing is confirmed though. /shrug

Can't really see that as anything else. idk if this is going to be in 2.5 or in the expansion (i would guess 2.5 or earlier, this is kind of early to be showing off leaks like that).
i honestly doubt the final CT raid is going to have weapon drops, and i doubt odin would drop anything like this, so thats where my guess is pointing to.
Yep. The new swords they added to replace daggers a couple of updates ago were great, as are some of the Grand Company options (Twin Adder specifically). Endgame swords though? I can't actually think of a good one... Holding out for a Fencer Class/Job, the most they can do to ruin those swords is make the hilt ridiculous... I hope... If Red Mage ends up wielding slabs on metal like Paladin does, my facepalm may rip a hole in realities.
I have my doubts that it is though. As the Curtana has no relationship to Excalibur (assuming the sword in the OP's post is indeed Excalibur). Given the Japanese love to draw from foreign history/culture in their games (especially SE with the Final Fantasy series) Curtana was a ceremonial sword used during the crowning of a British monarch. Curtana also draws links to the swords Durendal and Almace in French folklore in the Song of Roland. I can see Curtana becoming the Almace or Durendal, but Excalibur wouldn't make sense.
Either way that sword looks like it was made of wax, and someone left it near an open heat source for too long.
I like the look of the sword, my only question is will it do more then just have high stats, this is excaliber here it needs to have link status effects like: when being in a party with excaliber equipped, party receives +10 def to all party members and +10 magic def. Plus for the pld who wields excaliber learns the skill: knights of the round table, a devastating atk that does 1k to any trash mob or boss.
If the stats are good, and it's not next to impossible to obtain, I'll probably get it... but then I'll glamour my same old Carnage Blade over it.
I actually Like Super Sci-Fi blade. But to answer your question, I assume it's because SE likes things over-the-top, almost like they're addicted to the Rule of Cool. That and them competing with other franchises that are similar addicted to making stuff look cool.
Bleh. Thus begins the era of overly-ornate guff and there goes my reason for wanting to upgrade from my Nexus. R.I.P Curtana - You will be missed.
I'm not sure why you think something looks like a level one weapon if it's not shining enough to burn out your retinas, or doesn't have a completely ridiculous design. The swords in that picture have simple, effective designs, and yet they still look ornate, magical, and unique.
Weapon stage: Excalibur
Req: transmute 12 zodiac stone
Zodiac stone: Desynth a Nexus level weapon for a 1% chance to obtain zodiac stone
RIP...
Kind of sad we don't get things like this anymore... Didn't get one for Yoshimitsu, nor the Primal Focus weapons, doubt we'll get one for Excalibur et al.
PLEASE SE!! Give excaliber (knights of the round table) skill and (aura effect) to pt's or raid pt's. That would make excaliber worth getting. I mean it's excaliber, in ff11 excaliber is one of the best or is the best weapon to get but also takes the longest to grind. So throwing excaliber in ff14 you must match its grind with high reward and not just give it away to players.
So from what I could gather. people here hate special snowflake weapons?
