I put most gil on retainers due to above reason. ^^;
In addition, long time ago, I read a post here about a players had been banned as RMT,
eventually he got his account back but with gil deduction(I remember 1/10 left), however, his retainer(forget 1 or all) was not affected.
Roughly 130K. Used to have a little under a million but I decided to make a penta-melded i90 neckpiece for my tank. Then again, the only reason I even had that much was because someone thought that the carby lamp my retainer found was worth 800K gil...
500k, but I just spent 1.5mil on materia for my novus
Have about 90k ish right now and been as high as 4 million... It's stupid how much you have to invest in materia for crafting classes
Over 21 million. I've spent the last year maximizing my income (mostly from Gil drops, rather than playing the market game) and minimizing my expenditure with the hopes of buying one particular plot (Lavender Beds, Plot 30).
House I want is 37 and a half million, pre-depreciation, on Excalibur.
They're currently still up for sale, but yeah, I don't expect that to last as the price continues to depreciate. Should be fine for 2.4 though, still find the whole housing debacle to be ridiculous though, even if I'm in a pretty good position to get my own house.
200k, I.. umm.. bought a house so I'm broke now. But I anticipate being back over a mil or so easily at the end of the week between crafting, gathering, and spiritbonding. I Settled for a small house because I really do like them. Not unhappy with my waterfall side property at all.
I Have 2 Mil, and i just finished my Novus.
I dont really bother gaining gil, im just doing my roulettes everyday, and have pretty basic "luck" with my retainer.
Last time I checked with my retainers i sum about 5 Million. Novus was expensive nearly maxing out Crit, and my FC recently bought a house....
The Tank Bonus was a really nice extra income, as I did the daily Roulette A-Z with my Paladin or Scholar (depending on the Class Bonus, of course)
Due to Nexus upgrade, my alt classes really will starve until 2.4 obviously.
Retainers also bring nice Stuff from day to day, which sell for a good amount.
But as I don“t care about personal Housing in any way, where to spend my Gil anyways...
17,8 Mil. :)
I have like 2 close to 3mil but that's because I sell a lot of crafting mats on the MB and SB the heck out of low level stuff as I lvl my crafting class so I have a bunch of low level materia to spare. I'm also a ridiculous hoarder so I have random things that suddenly become valuable over night.
60 Million and climbing.
Well, before I got to the tier IV materia stage of doing my Novus I had a little over 5 mil. After that, and buying a personal room in my FC house I ended up back below 1 mil.
Currently have a bit over 2.5 mil, but I was lucky, and found a Savage Might IV on one of my retainers, so that netted me an extra 550k. Otherwise I'd just have a little over 2m.
Though, now with the Nexus quest, I'm kinda wish I had held onto that materia. /sigh
About 27 Mil but almost all of that came from 1.23 in the form of cracked materia, I've probably sold at least 50 Savage Might IV materia that I converted from cracked materia. I make gil very slowly in ARR and the constant requirement to meld top level crafting and gathering gear, not to mention I just started on relic, is a massive drain.
My favorite way to make gil used to be gathering but they took that away as an effective source of gil and in ARR I find all the ways to make serious gil tremendously repetitive and boring, yes, even more than 1.23 gathering.
I've been saving and managed to get up to 2.2 mil, but this is the most I've ever had. I'm not good at playing the market and am still leveling up some of my DoH jobs.
2.4 million atm
About 3.5kk
ALOT. But that's because I sell runs and you can easily make 1-2+ mil a day from that.
35 million ( not joking )
planning to hit 50 mil before 2.4
Hmm... around 150k at the moment, and the most I've ever had (in ARR) was around 500k. I have all level 50 crafters, but the market on my server is catered solely for people capable of doing 3-star melds. The problem with that is there's a massive time investment required to get to that level, and a huge gil investment to boot. Neither of which I can afford at this time. I do own some of the master books, but I'm nowhere close to getting the tools.
My biggest problem is that if you're low in gil, you can't make the investments needed to get out of the rut you're left in. In order for me to craft the items worth anything, I'd need to spend a small fortune on materials and, more lucratively, materia to get my equipment up to standard. Having tried to spiritbond my own materia, I gave up after countless elemental materias showed me spending more than I was earning. The matera 'merging' is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.
Still, some of us have to remain poor otherwise the rich wouldn't be able to be rich in the first instance. After all, someone has to BUY the stuff they put up for sale in order for them to earn it in the first place. If we were all rich, the economy wouldn't exist.
8.5 mill thanks to people paying triple price for furns post update.
I have 1.8 mil, with about 200k for sale on retainers.
The most I've had was 3.9 mil gil but novus (and glamour gear >_>) have been bleeding my pockets dry.
I generally make my gil by having entire days of just SBing.
1.4M, but i did use 1-2 M recently, and i don't really look to get money.
Like... 700,000 Gil. Most of which gets used for leveling up crafting classes, etc. within a few days due to high prices.
3.9mil, probably will go down since I've been buying without selling lately.
Server: Hyperion (LEGACY)
Edit: I find that the you're on server is just as important as the amount of gil you have.

I tend to have anywhere between 50k and 150k on me at any one time (about 80k at the moment) and I keep all my savings on retainer (currently about 3m).
Someone asked why keep money on retainers. My own answer is basic savings psychology. If you're trying to save money, the worst thing you can do is have lots of easily accessible cash in your wallet at all times. You need to avoid having too much cash on you and leave any bank/credit cards at home or you'll find all the tiny frivolous purchases (that seem like nothing at the time) add up really fast. The same applies in game. If you have to go out of your way to summon your retainer and extract what you need, you aren't spending it so thoughtlessly. The gil I keep on me allows me to buy a few things as needed, but every time I go back to my retainer to take out more than I put in I'm very aware of it and endeavour to do better when I'm really working to save money.
At the moment (and for most of my gaming life) I'm rather lazy regarding making money or even just playing in general. Most of my time is spent doing hourly things like retainer ventures or unspoiled nodes. I was hoping to be able to afford at least a medium house with my 3m though... Maybe this'll give me the boot to the rear I needed to actually work on my gil though. I'm a level 50 crafter missing most melds across most classes but I am a master WVR and crafting mid level HQ crafting gear used to do well so I might try that again.
Personal housing should have been personally instanced however!
Currently 650k... most 3 mil. I made prob around 7 mil in total over time but spent it... most I've spent was on crafitng the ilvl70 gear for the tier 4 materia for my novus before they nerfed it. Getting my gathering gear all overmelded cost a bit as well but not that much. It does add up in the end. Do have a few high cost slow moving items for sale. Will see if anything sells.
1.5 mil but i just hit tier IV materias on my scroll so I don't expect it stay that way for long D:
spent about 2 mil since i started playing I think. Gave 1 to my old FC and back when I started leveling up DoH I had no idea how to gather, how many mats I needed or how to use the search item function, so i ended up buying multiple stacks of items. Still have 100+ copper ignots lol. They're handy now that I have started leveling other classes though.
Just over 4 million.
something between 1M and 1M100k
On my Leviathan character, counting the gil on his person and divided among his two retainers, Ganth has about 1.2 million gil.
On my character on Behemoth, Dia has a smidge over 300,000 gil.
I have not purchased my own personal private house (not that there are plots available) on either of the characters. They both have private chambers in their respective FC houses that are sparsely decorated.
All in all, really not a whole lot of gil floating on my account, period.
32 Mil plus 3 full retainers full of mats, a personal house and FC house. All by selling primal runs and 3 star crafting with every craft. Easy to make money in this game just got to work at it and want it.
3.3m, Just spent 37.5 + 1 Mil on a med. house. and made 3 mill back in 2 days. All you need is time. SB 6 sets of gear, sell materia, repeat. cook HQ food and sell it. Harvest soil and sell it. Harvest popular crossing seeds like almond seeds and sell them.
Sooooooo many ways to make money in the game. Its all about if you have the in game time to farm the gil up.
200k, but I have spent at least 500k gil on glamour prisms..what can i say..I love fashion.
just shy of 13 million
47M on my main character, 16M in one retainer, 3m In another retainer and 20M on my alt account.
And I am not a Legacy player. Started after 2.0. It's not hard to make money.
