Are you serious? Some guys already on last Mile for this?!
I'd say the images are a good photoshop troll or a leak from devs ;)
However, spamming levi ex seems nice up to now for me
The author admitted he missed out "bright light". Bright right below brilliant in ranking.
You should generally get what is the usual light for the content you participated, although for some reasons, which people are speculating either a low % RNG or diminishing returns will yield you a lower light. And there is a low % chance to get newborn star in ST compared to the usual "blinding"
Nope. The images are extracted via data mining.
Ah ok they parsed the .dat files from the FFIV folder, alright ^^ Then it sounds serious.
The step isn't terrible I guess. It just saying play anything really and the weapon will upgrade. The thing I don't like is not being able to see a progress bar. People already found out you need 2000 points, give me a bar tell me x/2000, I want to see it.
I've got a theory on the "newborn star" and all the other seemingly random upgrades - I checked some of the Reddit posts, and the people who said they got the "newborn star" notification posted 19 hours ago. I jumped into ST twice just now, and both times I've gotten "newborn star" notifications.
What I'm thinking is that for every X hours - possibly dependent on the instance or activity - the activity will gain a boost for one hour, giving everyone a step up from the usual for that hour (blinding to newborn star for ST, for instance). It would tie in well with the somewhat vague quote posted on the patch notes:
Perhaps if we can track this pattern, and have people record whenever they see an "upgrade" to the amount of light, we might be able to determine when these windows pop up.Quote:
A weapon’s soul attunement level will rise by a set amount determined by the activity being performed. This amount, however, may increase each time a certain period of time passes.
If its set on a 24 hr timer (daily reset) then this is what to do.
1: do ST first thing, should get a newborn.
2: Do Ex dungeons should get blinding for awile.
3: It will drop to brilliant then to bright the more you collect.
4: eyes bleeding, take a rest til next reset, hopefuly daily.
Ive run every dungeon today, they all where giving blinding even sastasha. But after awile it started giving brilliant. So i tried some other dungeons and they all where giving brilliant, even did another ST.
So from what i can gather the more you do the less you get. Doesnt matter what dungeons you do after your first dungeon of the day.
Yeah it's just that everyone else gets something different that stands out and looks really cool and thyrus just gets more of the same. I don't doubt it will take an examination to even notice it's nexus and not zenith
Also I got a theory of what I'm thinking the patch notes hint means, quoting for reference:
A weapon’s soul attunement level will rise by a set amount determined by the activity being performed. This amount, however, may increase each time a certain period of time passes. Thus sharing information with other players will be invaluable in planning the most efficient method of attunement.
This to me sounds like a rested exp bonus kinda thing. It might explain why some people are getting newborn star and some aren't . I don't know how it is exactly but it could be that if you don't do any DR stuff or just haven't logged in for a while that you will have a boost when you finally do start for a while.
Though that wouldn't explain why we would need to share with others to plan efficiency unless it's tied with the specific instance and not our characters. Idk just my theory
I am thinking your Ilvl to the dungeon Ilvl is the key.
I ran st, t6 and some expert roulette yesterday and never got the newborn star. I have seen some folks say they got it in different dungeons. some who have not. The only thing I can think of is Ilvl.
So I am gonna test this out when I get home and run some content and try to get my guy to the dungeon ilvl or as close as I can. Maybe some other folks can test it while I am at work.
To help you with this test, I got bright light as ilvl 106 in turn 4 five times in a row. Many are getting less than bright light with a lower ilvl so maybe your theory craft is a bit off.
In all reality, knowing SE and how they do things the most likely answer to how light is distributed is RNG with different rolls (chances) for different content.
Read through alot of these theorys and i've not done ST in weeks tried for first time in awhile after update yesterday, at about 2 pm gmt, and got blinding i've done it 5-6 times since all blinding, my ilvl is 109, so i personally think its RNG, completly random, i think by talk with other adventures about it, it just meant talk and work out what activities will yield light and in what degree.
I've also done content on my own and with 1 or 2 others with novus weapon equiped we all got exact same result several times.
ST gives the best result, but i'm not sure if doing things that give lower light but are quicker is better or what, for now i'm gona do as many of my roulettes daily as i have time for, and rest of time, mix fates, maps and ST
I also think there is a little RNG into it; that wouldn't be a surprise.
I can see the rng in getting a newborn star, but if you run st 5 times and get blinding light I dont see that as rng. That is assuming newborn star is the highest amount you can get.
Has anyone seen progress on their relic looking thru the zodiak glass?
I'm not sure I believe this is the case. If you are suggesting it works anything like the experience based rested bonus we already have in game, there is no way this is correct. For the last month and a half, the only instance activity I have done is coil 6-8 and 9 progression (no win yet). I have had no reason to do primals, dungeons and I don't care for ST drops, so I haven't run any of those until yesterday. The first thing I did was pre-make a Bray HM, and I got a bright light at the end of the dungeon. People on this forum had been reporting getting a "brilliant" light from there. My first ST gave me a blinding light, and I ran 2 back-to-back Tam-Tara HM and got blinding light from both of those as well. No roulette was used, I chose the things I did outright.
That being said, I won't waste my time in ST anymore if I can get blinding from Tam-Tara consistently. The ST run took 45mins because of a Scylla wipe and the T-T took a bit over 15.
The theory about it being a certain time of day could be correct, but that's just way to random for me to feel comfortable about going off of. I work, I'm sure a lot of other people work too. So I can effectively never get a bonus because I have to work at the time of day this magic increase is effecting Eorzea? Maybe multiple times of day there is an increase, but if you have already collected one then you forfeit any more for the day?
Has anyone done enough ST, to see a newborn star light comment, then later on see it decrease to a blinding light comment, then even later see it increase back to the newborn comment in the same Earth (not Eorzea) day?
I can't imagine anyone wanting to run ST that much in one sitting, so I'm not expecting an answer but it may be a good thing to test if your masochistic enough :p
Just get blinding from the FL

It is possible that Curtana and Holy Shield (or may be every Relic) are getting different amounts of light from content and Curtana and Holy Shield need different amounts to fully attune. It may be a good idea to say which relic you got the result for.
Looks like ST likes to flip flop between newborn star and blinding light. Tis a shame, but it is what it is. </3
I obtained some 'bright light' from garuda HM, it's not in the list of points that I've seen through the pages. :( I wonder how much a bright gives.
I'm starting to belive that the time it takes to complete a dungeon/raid/trial is what gives us different rewards
Last night, I did:
Syrcus Tower: Blinding
Syrcus Tower: Blinding
Expert Roulette Tam Tara HM: Blinding
Frontlines 1st Place: Blinding
Frontlines 1st Place: Blinding
Since Nexus is a slightly modified Spiritbond, has anyone tried seeing if the Spiritbond potion affects results at all? It may be an economical way to speed things up.
I gather informartions here

I'd be careful posting dat mined info on these forums people. They will likely be handing out bans to those who do.
Today we garuda farm HM between 15h-17h we had bright, and before 15 h we get gentle, and after 17h same (25 kill). We try titan HM 17h after we have them bright where as before we had them 15h gentle (5kill). So the theory has certain time of day some boss sees increased their brilliance seems plausible
Today my Nexus thingy changed to "The relic exhibits indistintc aetheric activity". I lost count on what I did (spammed a lot of trials/experts and lots of fates). And now the relic image on the left keeps ticking from black to a little lighter than it was before constantl (while it was static in a darker tone before).

The light bonus appears to change every 2 hours. Was in a party farming Garuda HM and we were getting bright light from 9am to 11am cst. At 11am it changed to gentle light. So we tried Titan HM to see if the bonus moved to there and it did. Starting at 11am Titan HM started giving bright light. We are done now but i would assume Titan HM will give bright until 1pm cst then it will likely change to Moogle HM. And im willing to bet the 2 hours before Garuda it was Ifrit HM.
Id bet it works the same for dungeons too. Just have to figure out the rotation they go in and at what times each one has the bonus.
I'm wondering if I have to have both Curtana and Holy Shield fully novus'd before I can start nexus'ing the sword.
Ran ST 4 times as il110, got blinding all 4 times.
It does seem to work out with the hours. The following is just conjecture because I need to head to work and cannot test it. Based off of your experiences
Garuda would get Bright between 9am-11am (Hours in CST)
Titan would get Bright between 11am-1pm
Moogle would get Bright between 1pm-3pm
Leviathan would get Bright between 3pm-5pm
Ramuh would get Bright between 5pm-7pm
Ifrit would get Bright between 7pm-9pm
and again, Garuda would be back at the 9-11 slot.
So it seems to work theoretically if anyone wants to try the above times to verify if they get Brights inbetween these times. I assumed the times based on the order the primals came out.
