I retract my prior statement of a tank fairy, but it'd be interesting to see a fairy attacking a mob, possibly a DD fairy similar to Carby. Maybe casting at ~60 potency every three seconds.
Mostly want Aetherflow IV, and a Mend and Maim III trait.

Ruby Carbuncle, I miss having my healing Carbuncle from FFXI.
Aero, Aero II
Stone, Stone II, Stoneskin
Fluid Aura, ...
I'd like the balance of elements to be restored most of all.
So if we could include a wind-based haste buff, that would be nice. Or a water-based mana restoration spell, only able to target an ally.
I don't want an AoE Stoneskin. We're not preventative healers, we're reactive healers.
Just stoneskin the tank... Jesus.
I think you just set the White Mage Combat Awareness Movement back 50 weeks.
Seriously, though, too many WHMs get caught up in thinking that they're purely "reactive" and therefore expected to wait until HP is missing before they begin to lift a finger. I used to say "reactive" as well, but I realized that players took it way too literally and entirely gave up on being proactive.
Haha, I get what you mean, and the phrasing doesn't help my case...
We're pre-emptive healers then. If that makes more sense.
Pre-casting is something any healer should be doing, though we can't heal damage before it's dealt.
Stoneskin is an exceptionally powerful tool in our kitbag, but its not something I feel defines our play style.
For Scholars I'd like to see a male fairy.... say Helios? He could have something that refreshes MP recovery rate for the team, another skill that refreshes TP for the team, embrace and perhaps an aoe debuff that last 10 seconds that will reduce all damage from the effected enemies (not sure on what percentile this should be). Not sure what I'd like to see for traits with the expansion.
For White Mage: I'd like to see reflect (Obviously not work like past final fantasies), but more so a single target spell that will allow a person to negate one magic attack, excluding Ultimates aka Primals & Glaysa in ST. Obviously I think this should have the same recharge as maybe Benediction. Another ability I'd like to see, instead of asking for an AoE SS, what about an ability similar to BLM swiftcast, but something that allows WHM to multicast single target spells like: Regen, Cure, Cure II, Stone Skin on the whole party, maybe even toss in an extra cost in MP per party member affected. IE WHM activates (we'll call it Multicast) then casts cure instead of cure being 100 it should be 160 for a party of 4 (and obviously higher in 8 man).
I'd like to see a trait to buff regens rate or amount recovered too.
Disclaimer: The above is just an example. I'm no numbers guy in this game and I am aware that the MP costs are not set, but they rather scale with your level/item level.
hmm WHM, i liked the idea of a spell to make next spell aoe , but what about just a Stoneskin II or Reflect (aoe funtions like stoneskin with differences like Refecting magic damage as well as prevention of both m damage an p damage. More offencive spells like aero 3 an stone 3, maybe a new water based spell each being aoe , and then a Holy 2 instant but not aoe? or Aoe but ogc does damage based on mind an heals near by party members.
edit: Reflect being OGC with a recast akin to benediction "300.0"
what job would benifit with a water based mana restoration spell if it only can be used on allies ,when sch, blm an smn all have no problems with mana at all in no shape?
Aside from there being another whm in the party which is very limiting on part that spell .
BRD's, PLD, BLM 5x Flare, recently raised ally with no aether stacks, WAR using Flash, other WHM... Etc...Etc...
I'm not bothered so much about what the spell effect is, because I think White Mage is already the strongest class. (Please don't nerf us...)
I just want them to balance the elements.
No shields, no more dps and I think it'll be fine.
Some of the other suggestions are really good though.
I see your point, That would be very usefull, can't count how many times i've wished such a thing after raise. I personally would like to see a Reflect of some kind aiming at magic in the fashion of stone skin aoe or not it would be nice. mind telling which suggestion your liked?
The best suggestion so far (in my opinion) is Pray.
- Weak AoE HP/MP heal
- 100 Potency - 60s Cooldown
It stays in-line with the WHM theme of restoration & AoE.
Stop suggesting:
- AoE Stoneskin & Esuna
- More DPS
- Clones of existing spells
- Mitigation
Reflect
Sounds like a great spell. Nullify 1 spell and reflect % of the damage back.
This would be good for Scholars & not White Mage's.
HoT + Cover
How about an additional HoT that works similarly to Cover? Tethered together like you're physically tending to wounds and protecting them.
Asylum [FFXI]
Increase resistance to detrimental effects.
Instead of 30s,15s,7s sleep, it'd be 15s,7s
^I'd say this was more suited to WHM than SCH, mainly due to it not mitigating damage as such, more purifying. Also SCH use poisons. :x
Reraise
Feels like it'd break the game a little :/
For sch.....
A aoe spell that works as regen and resurrects those who dies. It would be like a 3-4 minutes cooldown
. A cooldown single target spell that reduces dmg taken by % For a minute.
Another stack For aetherflow.
Another fairy.
And when u equip the sch Stone job it switches the int trait bonus to mind.
K thx bye
Holyga. 1000 potency.
Burn baby, burn.
posted some good ideas on the front of the thread, i wonder if it is little laste though because the expansion is probably complete now. they are proabaly just fine tuning somethings.
I think it'd be a lot of fun to see the new healer class have a healing spell that bounces around 2 or 3 party members like chain heal. An ability with a brief reraise effect would be pretty cool too :). Also, completely spitballing here, but a sort of overdrive ability (ffix) that gives your character a brief change in appearance (wings or floaty shoulder moogles for whm, for example) and increased regen or access to a special skill would be super cool.
AOE Esuna II. PLEASE, for the love of the Twelve!
I'm extremely curious,
why is everyone asking for AoE Esuna?
Is it because "many people get hit by avoidable Statuses, and I can't cleanse everything!" ?
That seems like an invalid reason no?
Might as well ask for AoE Ress due to "Many people die to avoidable AoEs, I can't ress everyone!"
Power Word; Kill from old school D&D before third edition gimped it. If you insist on me suggesting something more realistic then I want a version of esuna that removes multiple debuffs and/or makes the target immune to them temporarily. There are two times I don't bother casting esuna. The first is when the tank has 5 debuffs and will be dead by the time I finish removing them all. The other is certain mobs that spam debuffs and will replace them 0.000001% of a second after you esuna.
So what you're saying is you wish you hadn't quit WoW?
Tractor, but for people that are alive. Sometimes I need to yank party members from what they're doing.
SWTOR has that skill. It was pretty handy. I used it to forcefully remove bad DPS from the red circles.
Scholar:
Sacred soil 2: 20% fo 20 seconds
Trinity: Allow of a second fairy or carbuncle
Advanced leeches: Better removal of debuffs and other effects
Gift: Allow you to give mp(500) or tp(300) depending on Disciple of war or magic
i would simply love to see an AoE Esuna/Leeches spell. i would also like to point out that spells like Aeroga wouldn't actually be magic. those type of spells are imitation magic. just like how Amon uses in Sycrus Tower. ( but yet magic defense buffs still work. lolsfail :$ )
well, something else i wouldn't mind seeing is more healing capability for fairies. i don't personally play content like Coil. and haven't played a 24man with SCH. but i can tell you that a SCH can get by without their fairy in some 8man, many lv50 4mans and almost all low-level instances. with that being said i think fairies need some improvement.
Embrace.
one of the most terrible healing spells i have ever seen. its re-cast is too long, its range too short, its potency too small. and NO additional effects. absolutely zero balance between this healing spell and a SCH's own Aldoquium, aside from it being automated. the range should be slightly further then the standard healing spell. as it is you actually have to get a step or two closer then your default range, which IMO is disadvantageous. and if it's going to have a crap re-cast, then it needs something else too. more potency or an additional effect.
off-topic : it would also be nice to see fairies move in range of the player on their own. WITHOUT having using the Place command. obviously there should be some limitations, though. we wouldn't want the thing running completely to the other side of the encounter zone.
Battle SS2 trait.
Enhanced Shroud or any sort of extra MP regen would be <3 - especially for healers like me that can be overzealous on the cure IIs :| *Admits it...*
An absurdly potent AoE Paralyze (for Frontlines) ability. Melee already have one - it's called auto attack. So why shouldn't mages?
Patch 2.5 - Frontlines: Incapacitation. {Yes please}
Some fun stuff. Like Bounding Heal from WoW where you release it and watch it bounce between party members, healing them as they get hit.
Or something positional, like your consecrate/ground-based HoT idea.
I'd love a scholar pet enkindle.
Hmm.
Eos Enkindle: All her heals apply Adlo for 20 seconds. Combine with the Whispering Dawn combo and the party is effectively invincible for a while... Probably OP, but I can't think of anything else.
Selene Enkindle: Applies Fey Light and Fey Glow simultaneously.
Not if you make it cost the same as 8 individual Stoneskins and give it a 6 second cast time. Then it becomes just as situational as ever as a WHM will have to choose whether or not the MP cost and cast is worth it. There are not many fights that allow you to stand still for 6 seconds so it would be great to use as a tool for mitigating the damage from those lovely "Boss health is at 50%" AoEs SE seems obsessed with.
for scholar:
New single target heal that's lower potency like 150 but adds 1/2/5% Damage reduction or something each cast builds a stack on the tank and when it expires after 30 seconds it lands a 500 potency heal on the target but makes them immune to the damage reduction buff for 30 seconds
A WHM spell that creates a fixed floating wispy glowing ball that heals for up to 10000 health; as players touch it they are healed instantly until the combined healing for all players who touched the ball add up to 10000. This ball would create no healing threat for the WHM.
This is a meaningless point. It doesn't matter if they can do runs without their fairies or don't need them.
They make low level runs cake, and take burden off of you and the other healer in the party.
I main SCH (account is mainly used by my brother who mains WHM) and I would never think about doing something without my Fairies, or think about the fact that I don't need them.
Embrace is actually incredibly powerful. But you seem to have a tendency of not understanding the game or what the fairies are actually there for so I'll help you understand.
1. Free healing. Has no MP cost. This alone makes it powerful.
2. Isn't connected to GCD. This along with number one makes potency irrelevant.
3. Isn't cast by the player. You stating players have to move because of the range makes no sense, the fairy moves not the player.
4. Doesn't tie-up the player. While it is being cast/on cooldown the player can still do things because they aren't the one who cast it.
5. Its automated (as you've stated). In low level dungeons and other content you can rely on your fairy to heal so you can DPS.
Giving Embrace an additional effect would almost break SCH. A free healing, that doesn't activate GCD, isn't cast by the player and is automated with a bonus effect? Right.
"absolutely zero balance between this healing spell and a SCH's own Aldoquium" I don't understand this line at all.
A spell capable of healing the stupid in my tanks and DPS when it surfaces.
Why in the world would we need a tank fairy? Soloing mobs in the world is easy without one. No matter what fairy I use I've never died. If you really want something to tank for you while you solo train your chocobo with tank skills. You can DPS, fairy can heal, and your choco can tank. If you can't survive with this almost 4 person party, you've got bigger problems than needing a tank fairy.
hrm... a heal that targets a single person and splashes heal on nearby ppl? as in
Better Single Target heal than AoE heal
Worse AoE heal than AoE dedicated heal
Worse Single Target heal than Single target dedicated heal
But still a good heal to save that emergency person and allow to heal others as a bonus??
