Anyone who has already purchased the game but has never yet bought a subscription (beyond the introductory 30 day sub that comes with the game purchase) can use one of these codes. Then both they and the person whose code they used get bonuses once they pay a subscription fee.

Hi there! I used your recruitment code (am currently Level 19; wish I knew about this earlier!) and added three months to my 'free trial' subscription. I hope I did everything right and that you get whatever rewards you're supposed to get. I found the process a bit confusing, but worth a shot since I was subbing anyway.

Essentially the code gives someone a 1-month trial of the game. The trial restricts them from from /telling and other sorts of social interactions (correct me if I'm wrong). Once the person who has entered the code and decides to purchase 90 days + (or a cumulative purchase of 30 days each month to 90), the person who provided the code will get a Chocobo Mount and other sorts of fun stuff.

The Recruit A Friend announcement page makes no mention of any such month long trial. The only bonus given to the friend who was recruited is the Friendship Circlet. There's no game time included with that.

Now, there is also a Free Trial program that's not associated with the Recruit A Friend program. Anyone who wants to try the game can do so on PC for 14 days. (Last I heard they were planning on adding a similar 14-day Free Trial option for PS3 and PS4, but I'm not certain if that's out yet.) That only requires that you haven't had the game through a paid or beta version before, no recruiting needed.

Okay, so I was/am still in my 30 day trial period and entered one of the recruitment codes on this forum to my account and then proceeded to purchase a 90 day subscription. Everything went through, and when I check my account it says 'a recruitment code has been added to this account.' It also says 'Days Subscribed - 0'. But, I did not receive the Friendship Circlet. Did I do something wrong? How does this work? I definitely paid for the subscription, but I don't see it listed anywhere on my account. Is there a waiting period before it becomes active?

Again, thanks in advance! Could really use the circlet tonight as I'm at Level 19 and could use the help :).

If you pay by credit card or crysta, the payment isn't actually taken until it's due, so you won't actually be charged for that next 90 days until the 30 days you already got with purchase of the game are over. Setting up the payment at the MogStation just tells them to pull from your card (or crysta balance) next time it's due. You get the reward, though, when it's actually paid (because until then, you still have the option of cancelling your sub and not paying for that 90 days).

This means that the only way to get the rewards prior to the end of your initial 30 days is to pay with a Game Time card. Since in that case, payment has already been made through a retailer, there's no waiting until it's due before taking payment. You can add time to your account whenever you want that way, and thus earn the recruitment rewards and veteran rewards when you want.

If I use my friends code and then add 90 reoccurring sub do they get the 90 reward right away or only if I used 30,30,30 game cards?
What is the best way to get the increased exp right out of the gate (or after the trial). I will be using Steam Retail.

Your friend will get the 90 day reward as soon as you've actually paid for extending your sub by a total of 90 days (regardless of whether that's done all at once or in multiple installments). An issue with the credit card or crysta recurring sub is that, even if you set it up immediately, the payment is only deducted from your card or crysta balance once it's actually due. This means no payments are made until the 30 days included with purchase run out. In financial terms this is generally a good thing, but it delays any rewards based on that payment, like these Recruit A Friend bonus items and the Veteran bonuses.

When buying Game Time Cards, payment is made to the third party retailer you purchase it from, which gives you control over the timing. You're credited with actual payment (and therefore can get rewards) as soon as you register that card to your account at the MogStation. I'm not sure whether there are 30 or 90 day cards, though. I've only seen the 60 day ones. If 60 is the only card interval, you'd have to overshoot the 90 requirement by getting two of them before your friend gets the 90 day mount reward.

It's a property of the Friendship Circlet. Any time you're on a class that's level 25 or below and have that circlet equipped, you get the EXP bonus. (It does mean foregoing any other bonuses you might have gotten from equipping different headgear, though.) Since there's a lot of multi-classing in this game and each class has its own level, you may well end up getting your first class all the way to 50 while having alt classes that are still under 25, and the circlet would still work for those lower level alt classes.
