dont be rediculous, there are plenty ways of getting the cotton, with some patience even the dumbest player could get one within in 1-2 weeks

I'm not being ridiculous at all, it shouldn't be as difficult to obtain these things as they are now because it's for VANITY GEAR! As in, it adds no ingame advantage whatsoever except that it makes you look pretty. Such items should be easy to obtain for as much of the ingame demographic as possible without shoehorning in dumb artificial difficulty. Ergo, I don't think the items should be rare because there's no point for them to be. If it was a craftable item that gave you an edge in coil or PvP or whatever i'd understand the mechanics put in place to limit the amount being pumped into the game like with coil lockouts and such for coil gear, but since it isn't then it's silly to make these things rare items. SE should just make the desynth swimsuits and the waterproof cotton obtainable through the upcoming summer event and be done with it instead of this asinine artificial difficulty mechanic.

I had never thought of this and was also getting annoyed that vanity items were so hard to get but you are absolutely right!

What do you think would be the point to keep a crafter up to date if everything was easy to craft? Check out the talks about the supra tools for exemple.

Crafting doesn't help in raid much (crafted tanking jewelries are great tho) nor doesn't give anything "BiS". So what is its place in the game? Glamours. By making it progressively harder to make, they keep the crafter's jobs alive and updated.

I mean, before 2.3 I never really relied on market board for anything. I just crafted my stuff myself, spiritbound my materias for novius myself, at this point what's the point of gils?
Now you gotta pay a fisher and a cook desynth'er to get your stuff because you can't possibly do everything anymore. That's when an economy starts runing. Wasn't the community complaining because economy is dead, gils worthless?

Well, like how hunts are SE's answer to "open world content" community asked for, desynth and glamour beeing hard to make is SE's answer to our "economy is dead".

Another fish has been found that can desynth to Waterproof Cotton: Sweetnewt, in Lavender Beds, probably catchable from 11pm to 3am (maybe just 1am-3am). It has only been caught in Fog so far, and the bait is a mooch off of Ala Mhigan Fighting Fish (Midge Baskets have the best chance of catching them).
