Dye-able AF Disappointment.

The reason why glamours is popular is because it allows an individual to uniquely dress their character making that person UNIQUE. "Barriers" for certain pieces of armor help deal with an issue that is now predominate in a game known as World of Warcraft which runs a similar system called transmogfrication. The problem was that you weren't very "UNIQUE" because everyone else can look like you at little to no cost or effort.

By making things a bit harder to obtain, fewer people are able to obtain that item for proper glamours useage and produces "Uniqueness" as not everyone will put in the effort to dye and properly mix-match it with other glamoured items.

Your post clearly indicates your frustration of not being able to dye these items, which indicates that you are interested in dying these items for usage in the glamours mix-match gear system, which indicates you are interested in making yourself unique or as kids would say it ,"To look cool".

So imagine if you put in the effort and dye the piece you wanted and used it to mix-match with yourself.

How many times more unique are you than others?

Go back to the first page and continue to add up the number of likes to the initial thread and every other similar thread. That is how many times more unique your going to be because that many people are not going to put in the effort to dye these rather exquisite pieces.

Therein lies the problem with your argument; both of those items actually have some kind of combat benefit to equipping them. Compare and contrast to, for example, the Spring Skirt which gives you... 6 defense and 13 magic defense. Basically, the same stats as starter gear yet to craft it you need rare components that aren't even farmable, and a crafting level so high that you need maximum materia melds and high level tools.

Another flaw in this argument is that most of the lower level gear looks the same. Many of the items are literal repeats of older gear, with only their stats as the defining characteristic. The 'glamor' items are considered so because they're unique in appearance, which is why they're coveted in the first place.

But of course, wouldn't want people looking nice without grinding the same rubbish for at least a few months would we...?

What does it matter that an item gives a combat benefit at low levels? How is that relevant, and how does that make the item any less useful for vanity? Are you really saying that a Hempen Chemise gives someone a lvl 50 a bigger combat bonus than a Spring Dress? Because, well, it doesn't. I'm talking about items used as glamours, not items worn straight. The defense/magic defense of the item does not somehow magically give a bonus to the armor you glamour the item onto. The point is, people create their glamours from items of all levels, and there are some unique looking items that can be crafted below 1* difficulty.

I got mine a while back because i was like mmmmm i want it.
So i decided to use some of my saved up gil and go for it.
Took me half an hour to find and hire crafters and buy out some of the market for materials lol.
After i got my Smexy AF augmented body i was like damnnnn i feel poor again ( 100-200k ) so i was like fck it lets make some gil. So i mined soil, marble, crafted low furniture, did DR bonuses ( healer ), crafted demimateria. At the end of the day i made about 700k+ gil because i chose to work hard for it.
Then the day after i got my AAF body i decided to get the augmented cashmere robe. So i used my gil again and bam shiny clothes ^^
Felt poor again so i worked hard and got back up to 600k and i decided to get my AF boots. So i did and bam poor again but like before i took time and went back up to 450k the following day.
Ur only as poor as ur efforts.

It is a vanity thing, crafting is mainly for vanity and raiding is for top tier gear. If you want the dyeable AF for glamor level your crafts if you want to make it cheaper.

personally i will have understand that some armor like the one coming from BC, if not CT was a pain to make dyable.... but the AF? seriously!
being vanity don't need to make it a pain to make, the trouble here, it's the will to increase artificially the life of the game. worst, it's a bad way to give a goal to the crafter!

2.2-2.3 are for me a step back and in the bad sense on many point, come back of insane grind, making get anything take age, and when you get one over, new content come out. worst the game was sold on the armory system but all this added are not armory friendly... all of this are feature that work when you can play only one class and have only 1-2 craft max. here we will get more and more and more class/jobs.

it's a nonsense to make the relic or af dyable this hard to get! since all it will do, it's make people simply abandon the armory system and go with one class max.
