The term ingame on mouseover isn't cloudy, its "Overcast".

Showers is not rain. The icon for showers has raindrops falling slanted, rain's icon has the drops falling vertically. Sadly, showers is the prevailing one it seems.

Has anyone been able to confirm weather/emote/time of day for #18?
Also, has anyone completed all 20 yet? If so, do an additional 20 unlock or 60 or none?
Thanks in advance for the help.
018 "Merciful are the rains that fall, for they give great succor to the thirsting land, and comfort the old wounds of one who journeyed too far from home." Such were the botanist's words, and I would see as she saw.
Another thought... has anyone tried the 'comfort' emote during rain or showers? perhaps that is the correct emote???
Again, any help would be appreciated.
Someone in the Sightseeing discussion thread stated they had all 20 and no more were unlocked; they suggested that it was likely more would arrive in future patches. If this is true, it's a bit disappointing; has made the whole activity seem like a seasonal event rather than a game feature!
Yes, have tried comfort (in fact I cycle through all /emotes from the emote windows to be sure) during Showers - and it's likely that /comfort is the correct emote. I think it's just that there hasn't been Rain in a couple of days, so we haven't been able to confirm.
Thanks all for further clarifications and pointing out other mistakes. All updated!
I would really appreciate a source on that. Been trying to contact everyone who claimed to have done #018 without luck so far.
Also, known issues list states that entry #032 is bugged, suggesting that they are already in the game.
Maybe the 5 empty spaces on the sightseeing log are vistas we are meant to discover without any hints ?
I believe the person that said he had all 20 was simply misunderstanding/misunderstood. He most likely meant he had found all 20 spots, not that he had actually logged all 20.
As it stands now, I have a gut feeling I know what has to happen for #18, and I am just farming fire shards (which I badly need anyways) until this magical combination of weather and time decides to happen.
Once you get all 20, I assume you go back to the Ironheart lady and show her your log. She gasps and tells you how awesome you are, then unlocks the next tier of sights.

Here are all of mine so far minus 018
Well, the images for 21-80 are definitely already in the game, but it's just a question of getting #18 discovered for people so we can find out if we automatically unlock the next 20, or have to go talk to the lady at Apkallu Falls to get the next set, or what :\
It's crazy how it seems that absolutely everyone is waiting on this last spot :O
(except me - i've four others to go...)

Ul'dah: Hustings Strip (11, 11) | Dawn (5am to 8am) | Fair | /salute [Poponemu Totonemu - Malboro]
Specifics: Three silver plates on the floor in front of the stairs to the Royal Promenade.
Just confirming 5:00am onwards | Fair weather | /salute
Can anyone confirm that, in fact, it really does get rainy in Eastern Thanalan? A screenshot would be appreciated, since too much hearsay.... In the past 24 hours I've only seen showers.

#020 "En route from Ul'dah to Gridania, i sought lodgings at Highbridge. Setting out at first light, I looked out upon the wise men of old - at least they looked wiser than me - and asked for guidance in my travels." Such were the merchant's words, and I would see as she saw.
Eastern Thanalan: Highbridge (21, 20) | Dawn (5am to 8am) | Fair | /pray [Endemerrin Rosethorne - Balmung]
Specifics: Down to the bottom of the scaffolding at the eastern end of the Highbridge.
Just confirming that it is: Correct time | Fair weather | /pray
The only thing I could find was someone on reddit saying that they had a screenshot of Rain (not showers) in Eastern Thalanan dating back from November, and these posts on the bluegartr forum.
Moreover, this message on /r/ffxiv, which was the only source on /pray for #018, now has been edited to confirm that it wasn't about #018.Quote:

I don't believe there is any "Rain" in Drybone. I've never seen it yet, and I don't believe it is the key to this. I am 90% sure my little pet theory is right, and I guess I can share at least a glimpse of the pot of gold on this one *wink wink*.

That was taken exactly 24 hours ago. I was hoping it would show up again today at the same time (real time), but alas, it did not.
I'm the author of that reddit post. Went digging through my history to find the pic again, here it is: http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/o...a.png~original
It's most definitely rain, so at the very least, it was possible in the past. However, I, like many, have been checking Eastern Thanalan basically since the patch hit and have not seen Rain yet. Seems to be confirmed there was rain once yesterday though, but in the morning - someone on my server claims to have seen it at the same time as that person on the bluegartr forum.
Has to be a gimmick to #18. Perhaps it's the combination of all three worst elements: very rare weather, a very specific time and an emote we haven't had to use before. Would be humorous if /harvestdance worked, but I just don't know. Seems no-one has it and those that claim they do can't provide evidence. I have seen that rainbow before only once and perhaps it's linked. I honestly wouldn't rule anything out just yet.
If indeed we do have seasonal patterns in Eorzea as we did in Vana'diel, I expect that it's "out of season" for Rainy right now (probably summer). And that could be why it's currently so rare. Will see Showers far more often.
I've used every emote in every weather at every hour of the day and got nada. If I had known what that rainbow might mean when I saw it yesterday, I would have booked it back to the goobbue and prayed like Mother Teresa. There are only two possibilities at this point - its the rainbow, or its the heretofore unseen "Rain" weather.
I believe the rainbow appears in Fair weather following Showers during the 8am weather change, since I believe that's when I took the picture, and I have since tried it in Clear at 8am after Showers and no rainbow.
Well, maybe something with the weather patterns got screwed up during the patch implementation and they're just not aware of it yet(?) Or maybe they are but since it's the weekend and all it's not their highest priority.... Idk.
Talking to Iryoku in-game at #018. The Rain that came the other day was definitely Rain and not showers. People spammed /emotes between 12am and 8am ET to no avail.
And so we wait...
In all liklihood it's the rain we need and daytime is what i've been guessing.
Any advice on getting to the last lamppost for #010? I can get to the other two posts no problem but reaching the proper one is a problem. Where are you supposed to jump from to get to that lamp? I keep coming up just short jumping from the rock just above Apkallu Falls.
Try popping sprint but jumping from a bit further back.

#017 "The fog was so thick you could cut it with a blade. My foot slipped, and in an eyeblink I was sprawled out on a cliff, the ruins of a buried city before me. Sadly, the stinging pain in my arse detracted somewhat from my enjoyment of the scenery." Such were the adventurer's words and I would see as he saw.
Central Thanalan: Sil'dih Excavation Site (15, 22) | Morning (8am to 12pm) | Fog | /lookout [Shioban Mooney - Excalibur]
Specifics: Fall down to a ledge from the path above the Excavation Site.
Just confirming that it is: Correct time | Fog weather | /lookout
I can also confirm that it does indeed Rain in Eastern Thanalan. This was yesterday? morning and Rain weather popped at the 00:00 weather change and #018 was loaded with people trying to get it but no dice. I should have kept track of weather from then on but I fell asleep. There is probably some little trick we need to do similar to how with #011, we couldn't just sit on the stump to trigger it, we had to stand on the stump then sit for it trigger.
Hmm, I never got the "You have arrived at a vista!" message until I sat on the stump, even while standing on it.

Showers all time on the Gobbue one ..... Someone had seen simple rain there ? 4 days with showers each day (2 times at 4pm and 2 times at 8am)
EDIT : I have my answer. Hope it will rain soon at 4pm x)
